Clamp-On Installation

The TracONE mounts quickly and easily to your truck bed rails. Simply position the bases of the rack where indicated in the included instructions and secure them with the provided clamps. Each support base is held in place by 2 heavy-duty aluminum clamps. Torque the clamps down to ensure a substantial connection.

Cantilever Over-the-Cab Extension

Included with your TracRac system is the cantilever extension, which attaches to the front crossbar to provide 32" of additional length over the cab of your vehicle. With this extension piece mounted, you can carry long loads safely and easily. The crossbar of the cantilever extension is constructed in the same fashion as the other TracRac crossbars so that you get the same sturdy, aerodynamic styling throughout.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included and Optional Accessories

Included with the TracONE are 4 aluminum load stops with tie-down points. These load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment.

TracRac crossbars accept a variety of accessories (sold separately) that slide and adjust for optimal placement.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The TracONE rack system is constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect the rack. The silver electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

Review from a similar TracONE in Ladder Racks

Rack is sturdy and well built. Took less than an hour to assemble and install. Maximum height of rack does not clear the top of the cab of a 2016 Ford F-350 SD Crew Cab. If you want to carry a kayak it will require foam blocks or Malone kayak saddles made for the Tracrac(not carried by etrailer). You can not carry a long ladder if used on this vehicle. Over all it is good rack though.

Comments
Still working great as a kayak rack using foam blocks.

Review from a similar TracONE in Ladder Racks

I received my product quickly. I was very pleased with the quality and instructions. I installed this on my truck that also has an in-bed tool box. Although the install instructions were easily understood it would be very helpful to have another set of hands. I do have a suggestion w/ref to the excellent hardware supplied. Unfortunately I found in several instances I experienced difficulty because there was paint in the internal threaded areas. This I was able to overcome by using the correct tap to clear the internal threads. I love it.

Install was simple. Did not use the clamps that came with it. Bolted to bed instead. Crossbody too box sits on top of front rails. Bought the tool box mounting accessory kit and used the shims that came with that to level the crossbody box.

Great product, easy install, easy to follow instructions. My only complaint is: getting tool box mounting kit and there is no option for getting black hardware. Who would think I wouldn't mind silver clamps with my black rack, black tool box, ladder that I painted black? Black running boards, mirrors and handles changed out from factory. I painted them, but wish I didn't need to after paying I think around $600 for the 2 products combined. They should look at sending the tool box kit to powder coat. It's literally the exact same clamp with a hole drilled and threaded in it.

The ladder rack paired with Malone Kayak Saddles has been working like a dream. They still look very sharp, and more importantly they’re still very functional.

Review from a similar TracONE in Ladder Racks

I installed this rack on my 2011 Dodge Dakota about a year ago and have used it several times to haul lumber and plywood. It's easy to load on the rack and I normally use simple tie down straps, but my self spooling ratchet straps are used for deeper and heavier loads and that's where the crossbar tie downs come in handy. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and it's important to do everything they say, and in the order they say it. Attaching the uprights to my Dakota's bed rails was a little awkward because of the wheel wells, so the smaller your torque wrench, the better. The good news is it only takes 10 ft.lb. I think the rack is well worth the money and it's a ton safer than just throwing lumber in the truck's bed.

Excellent customer service and excellent product. I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma with factory installed composite bed and deck rail system. The ladder rack came with a kit for the deck rail system. We put t together and installed it in less than 2 hours. It looks great and is very functional for carrying all my ladders (24 ft extension ladder, and a 6 and 8 ft ladder) I would highly recommend e-trailer.

Really too new to rate as far as functionality as I just installed it today. 2 guys about an hour plus. Looks great. Had a few little scratches out of the box, but since I know it's going to get used for my roofing company, I know this is a minor thing. Looks great and hope it performs as well as it looks. I really didn't want a full ladder rack so I think this will work out just fine Delivery was super quick too

This is a nice rack, I don't keep it on full time, only when I need it, so I can't say how it holds up in the weather, but it's easy to install and remove by one person. It's also strong and stable. I have had other racks in the past the created a lot of wind noise and buffeting, but this rack does not, I think it's worth the purchase.

Review from a similar TracONE in Ladder Racks

Fist of all etrailer did a great job getting this product to me promptly. I am a repeat etrailer customer and will remain so in the future. This review is for the TracONE ladder rack. There are other versions available on etrailer from the same company. I bough this one because other than the load capacity being 800 lbs instead of 1000 lbs as for the Thule Pro2 rack I could not tell that there was much difference. 800 lbs capacity will be fine for my work. As for the rack: I had a custom installed TracRac on my old Dakota truck for the last 19 years and loved it. It always carried the ladders and lumber I needed without issues. It was a quality built product that did exactly what it was supposed to do, year after year and nearly two decades in use still looks pretty darn good doing it. When I got a new Tacoma naturally I wanted to repeat that success. That's not gonna happen with this rack, at least not in the long run. First: This has a painted finish, not anodized aluminum. There is NO WAY the paint is going to hold up. Maybe if you only carried plastic kayaks or surf boards it would be OK, but sliding aluminum and fiberglass ladders up onto it, or heavy framing lumber, is sure to scrape off the paint. Even assembling the rack required extra care to not nick up the finish. Second: My old rack's saddles at the top of the uprights and the bases at their bottoms were fully welded and therefore sealed. They have now been replaced by a bolt-together arrangement. There is no provision for this to be to be made fully watertight in nasty weather, and there is no drain from the uprights if water does get in there. Third: only some, but not all, of the hardware provided to bolt it all together is stainless steel. The non-stainless stuff is sure to rust in a matter of a few weeks or months. Fourth; I got the cantilever kit as well. The welds on the cantilever arms are sloppy. I don't think this will effect the performance, but at this price point it looks amateurish. Fifth: About 25% of the tapped holes needed their threads chased to assemble the rack. Mostly excess paint in the threads I suppose, but annoying. Also you will need a bit of patience to assemble the rack. Some of the socket head cap screws that they use so liberally are in difficult to access locations. You can't get to 'em with a socket setup so it is mostly by ball end driver and 1/4 turn at a time. This is particularly true on the Tacoma specific mounting clamps but it shows up other places as well, such as when attaching the cantilever arms to the uprights. Lastly if you decide to buy this rack anyway be aware of two things: One the upper saddles on the forward uprights get changed out entirely if you are adding the cantilever support. Open the cantilever kit first and use the alternate saddles to assemble those uprights or, like me, you will be doing it twice. Then, specifically on the Tacoma, the rearward assembly can't be set fully to the back end of the truck bed because the truck bed's top edges bulge inward at that point. You have to set the rack bases forward enough to miss this bulge or the clamps won't fit. Conclusion This is NOT the same quality as the old TracRac. Although It will work in the short run, I am sure that in a matter of a few months of New England weather and rugged work it will look beat up and rusty in places. I'll be curious to see what happens with those uprights after a driving nor'easter with a hard freeze following. With my criticisms noted I can say it DID come with all the parts; it DID go together; and it DID fit on my truck where, for the moment, it looks pretty good. The biggest problem is that this rack wasn't cheap! There are similar racks out there (copy-cat versions) for a heck of a lot less money that ARE anodized, ARE weather tight, have professional-looking "stack 'o nickles" welds, and come with stainless hardware, all for less money. I shied away from buying one of those because I thought TracRac and Thule were serious about their quality and I had such good luck with my old TracRac. It turns out that was a bad choice on my part. I would NOT recommend this rack nor would I buy it again mostly because of the high price and my questions about the longevity. YMMV

Review from a similar TracONE in Ladder Racks

Installed on my Ford F250 Super Duty. Excellent construction, takes about one hour to assemble with just a few tools. Instructions are good, and all parts were in the box. Looks/fits fine on my truck. The rack is about 1" taller than the cab roof. Flat items like ladders, lumber, rigid pipe will clear, but flexible items like PVC or plywood may touch the top of the cab when travelling. I purchased this unit to transport kayaks when we travel on vacation. Canoes/kayaks clear fine if transported right-side up (as they are flat on the bottom) . But I load them upside down for better wind and noise control, and the 'tip' of the boat will just touch the top of the cab. I easily fixed this by getting a few 4"-5" stainless hose clamps at Lowe's, and a piece of 2x4, and clamp that to the front bar. Not a hill for a stepper.

Item arrived with scratches which was an issue mentioned in other reviews for this rack. So, I was not surprised to find a few when I started assembly which was pretty straight forward and took about an hour. This unit attaches to the bed of my 2017 Tacoma perfectly with the included extra set of rail clamps. Excellent quality, sturdy and looks good, just what I was looking for. I would recommend this product to others just be prepared for some minor scuffs and scratches, otherwise I’d have given it 5 stars.
