E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I used these to replace odd-ball 5 on 5.5 hubs. I hate that bolt pattern. So hard to find good rims because hardly anyone uses them. In fact, I did this swap shortly after buying the trailer (read, tires and wheels were still in new condition). The dealer I bought them from was reluctant to give me much money for them. He told me that even he would have a hard time selling them because they were such an odd-ball bolt pattern. As he said this, I'm looking around at his lot of trailers, ALL with hubs with this same bolt patter. Ugh!

I wanted to upgrade the rims on my trailer, and upgrade the tires. So, went with this pattern (on two trailers). Quality product. Would def. buy again.

Excellent idler hub assembly for an attractive price.
eTrailer support is amazing!

by:

Tiffany determined which hub that I needed with minimal information from me and she was right on the money. I’m very grateful.

by:

Everything I ordered was correct. They kept me updated on the back order items suggested an alternative when the hubs gots delayed a second time. Went together great. Hoping this is the last axle and hubs I put on the trailer.

by:

I was needing bearing, but wanted to change hubs to better style (from Mercedes style to regular stud style). It was only a little extra to do the whole hub. The pre-greased already put together hubs took about 10 mins per hub to change. Most of that was cleaning spindles for install. I really like this option. Super easy, quick fix.

by:

Could not have asked for anything better bearing being pressed in just a simple of installation as you could ask for I will always go back to etrailer.com for all my trailer needs

by:

Perfect replacement for the 16 yr old original hubs. Had both replaced in 15 minutes.

by:

There's not much to say. It's a trailer hub. There are plenty of things to say about the customer service, which was great when I called in to make my order and make sure I was ordering to right part. The time of arrival at my doorstep was very quick. I thought I was going to have to order and forget about it until it arrived but not with e trailer; the order arrived within a few days. It was well packaged too.

These hubs work great. I got them because I wanted my trailer bolt pattern to match my Toyota Tacoma. It has worked out great so far.

by:

Great product and qualified service customers and delivery. Thank you

by:

So on the last trailer I converted to hydraulic disc, I used the Titan kit with actuator. This trailer is a cargo trailer for work 14'X8' and not that heavy. I went with Kodiak discs and the Hydrastar actuator. I mounted it inside the trailer to protect it and keep it out of sight. It's so quiet but works flawlessly! Even with the door open, it's tough to hear, so for bleeding, I set up a remote switch to activate the system. It doesn't leak, has plenty of power, and is very smooth coupled with my factory Ford brake controller.. It's been a year, so long time reliability is a wait and see, but so far, I'm very happy.

by:

It was the wrong ones. Other than having to buy spindles to fit and waiting STILL for machine shop to weld it, perfect, just perfect. Over a year and still can't use it.

by:

Purchased several items from you, very happy with service and pricing! Wouldn’t have been able to build our off road camper with your help!

by:

Excellent! Used these to convert from worn 4 bolt hubs with 15 inch tires to larger, higher weight capcity 16 inch commercial Transit van tires. Just towed a scrap auto to the recycler. Its like having a new trailer. Highly reccomended!+++

by:

Excellent timing and customer service

by:

Loved the personal service and the help. I tried a few other sources before going online to order from etrailer. One place I tried was an online tool dealer, and their online site was a mess without help and so was a retail location. etrailer, was quick to find me exactly what I needed and got me fixed up in just a few minutes. From now on all my trailer needs will be fulfilled from etrailer!!!

by:

They were a perfect fit to my timberland Axle-less system. A simple stud change and I was able to bolt up stock Toyota wheels to my new trailer.

by:

PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT QUALITY, EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED AND NEEDED. SERVICE WAS FAST AND ALLOWED ME TO GET MY TRAILER BACK ON THE ROAD.
I WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND ETRAILER.COM

by:

Items were shipped promptly and arrived on time in good condition. Well packaged. Good quality products that will be a new utility trailer axle for me within the next week.

by:

They came pre packed with grease and fit perfectly! Wow one of the easiest replacements I've used

by:

Look good so far haven't installed them yet but will update when they are done. Shipping has always been great, normally delivered this and my previous orders on time. Will be purchasing my future trailer needs again from your company.

by:

As always, etrailer had the parts I needed, got them to me ahead of time expected, and the order was correct. Great job!

by:

Great customer service. Fast shipping, detailed tracking, and the product was exactly as described.

by:

Very happy with the product! Fast shipping and worked perfect. What impressed me the most though, was that they emailed me a year later
To make sure I was happy with the product. Absolutely will use them again. It’s hard to find good service like this anymore these days. Very impressed.

  • Can Dexter 6 Lug Hub/Drum be Replaced with Standard Hub
Yes, there are hubs that can replace your Dexter hub/drums that you have currently. If the axle is rated for 6,000 or 5,200 lb you would want the hub part # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K or if it's rated for 3,500 lb you'd want the # AKIHUB-655-35-EZ-K.

  • How to Determine Hub
That's not enough information to find the hub, and in particular the spindle, as you have to be much, much more specific. To find the right hub, you need to know your bearing numbers and axle capacity. To find this you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper measure your spindle to the...
