Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Trailer hubs are working great despite being immersed in salt water regularly.

by:

Great quality, great prices. I converted an old gooseneck trailer from the open center mobile home-style hubs to modern 6k hubs on a budget. These hubs fit in place of the old hubs on the rear axle, which I chose not to install brakes on.

by:

This is the second time that I have ordered from etrailer. The first idler hub is still working fine on my boat trailer. I use the trailer to haul my boat to the Salish Sea off Port Angeles. The trailer is immersed in salt water every time I launch and retrieve the boat.

by:

Complete accurate and overall fast and speedy shipping, couldn’t find this product anywhere even local trailer dealers, but Etrailer.com had these, I would buy from them again !!!

by:

Everything I needed with convenient shipping and reasonable pricing!

by:

I am very happy with Etrailer, Great service and delivery. Lots of information to help me get the hubs I needed to change over from mobile home wheels to standard 6 lug trailer wheels. Shipping was fast and I even received a phone call before they shipped, because the address they were sent to did not match the billing address.
Thanks etrailer, Gary B

by:

restoring an old trailer, these went on without a hitch.

by:

We use etrailer for nearly every component of the custom trailers we fabricate. Great parts, great service and great prices.

by:

Good Product easy to install. Use the assembly every day. No problems with it for over a year.

by:

The hubs replaced my old rusted ones perfectly. I selected two day shipping when I ordered on Saturday but I didn't receive the order until Wednesday. The box was damaged and one of the caps were damaged by the hub because of not enough packing material in the box.

by:

Great service! Great products! Thanks!

  • What is Minimum Pilot Diameter Wheel the Hub # AKIHUB-655-6-K Requires
The pilot diameter of the wheel that would fit on the # AKIHUB-655-6-K would need to be more than 3-1/8 inches as that is the outer diameter of the center section of the portion of the hub.

  • How to Select Correct Replacement Idler Hubs for Trailer
When substituting new hubs you need to match several things: the axle capacity, the wheel bolt pattern and the bearing set used inside the hub. Bearing dimensions can be used instead of the bearing part numbers but the part numbers are the best way to ensure the new hub will fit properly on your spindles. Matching the inner and outer bearing numbers ensures compatibility. You can also measure your current hubs' outside-to-inside depth (the distance from the outer bore where a grease cap...

  • Can The Hubs On Mobile Home Axles Be Changed To Use Conventional Trailer Wheels and Tires?
Your mobile home axle uses a specific spindle which is not compatible with a more traditional hub like the Assembly # AKIHUB-655-6-K you found. • Replacing Hub And Drum Components On Mobile Home Axles
Mobile home axles are designed for a one-time use and it is not recommended to use them for trailers. There is not a weight capacity listed for mobile home axles. A lot of folks do use them anyway but find that the hubs, and bearings and other components are really difficult to find. You would need to remove the hubs on the spindles and use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle where the inner and outer bearings ride to find the correct replacements. The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 6,000-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKIHUB-655-6-K will work well with wheels like the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Modular White Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range D # AM32673 each of which are rated for 2,540 lbs. You won't have any issues with speed on these as anything with that bolt pattern will be rated for highway speeds and the holding weight will be above what you need for the shipping container.

  • What Spindle Fits the Trailer Hub # AKIHUB-655-6-K
I think you may be going about replacing your hubs backwards. The only way to do it is to first determine what spindle you have on the trailer and then find the correct hub to fit it by either using the bearing numbers or the dimensions of the spindle. The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-655-6-K would require a 42 spindle like the part # TRU37FR. This hub has 1.25 and 1.75 inches where the bearings ride.
