• Bearings:

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

• If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
• If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
• If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
• If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

## Video Transcript for Dexter Trailer Hubs and Drums 8-213-5UC1 Review

Today we're going to take a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 8-213-5uc1-ez. Now this hub has a capacity of 3,000 pounds, so when paired up with another it will have a gross weight capacity of 6,000 pounds, which makes it a great application for 5,200 pound and 6,000 pound axles. There are six studs pressed into place on the hub and theyre set up on a 6 on 5 1/2 pattern. If we were able to accurately measure across from one stud to the other we'd get our 5 1/2 inch measurement. Now included with the hub are the races that are actually already pressed into place. The outer race is an LM67010 and the inner race is a 25520.

You also get your inner and outer bearings. Your inner bearing is a 25580. Your outer bearing is an LM67048. You get your 6 conical lug nuts for securing a wheel to the trailer hub. You'll get the grease seal which will go on the back and that's a 10-10 grease seal for this model.

And you'll also get your dust cap. It'll fit over the outside here, but this dust cap also has a removable rubber plug so if you have easy lube spindles on your axle all you have to do is pop this plug off and then you can fit your grease gun over the zerk. And that's it for a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 8-213-5uc1-ez.

Excellent tech help, quick shipping, parts arrived and installed this weekend. As etrailer stated they fit perfect on my old mobile home axle and yes I would highly recommend them. The only thing that would have helped a little is stating the bearing seal size, in this kit it is 2.125. Bob64344

I bought these hubs to replace the 30+ year old originals on the 6000 lb axle under my late fathers homemade 4x8 trailer. The original hubs couldn't have modern wheels mounted to them so doing this allowed me to mount modern 225/15r75 tires and wheels as well as have a spare. Install was quick and easy, the fit of every part was perfect. Service from etrailer was excellent, couldn't have been better.61565

Good quality product, that came exactly as described. It came with the bearings, seal, lug nuts and dust cap. These hubs also fit 15" rims for anyone interested in using these on 15" rims like I am. 36823

• Which Wheels Fit On Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-213-5UC1
• When fitting wheels to a Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-213-5UC1, you would need to measure the wheels you are trying to use. You would measure the bolt pattern, the center hole diameter, and the stud size. To measure the bolt circle on a 6 lug application you would measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole directly across from it. So on the Dexter hub you referenced that measurement would have to be 5.5 inches. I have included a link to our FAQ article on meas

• What Size Lug Nuts Fit Trailer Hub Assembly, Part # 8-213-5UC1
• The lug nuts, grease cap, bearings, races and grease seals are included with the # 8-213-5UC1 hub you mentioned. The wheel studs are 1/2 inch diameter, 20 threads per inch.

• Which Size of Bearing Buddy Will Fit the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-213-5UC1
• The Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, part # 8-213-5UC1, that you have referenced, will use the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors, part # BB2328, in the chrome plated version and Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors, part # BB2328SS, in the stainless steel version. These bearing buddies will fit a hub with a bore of 2.328 inches. I am including a link to a video review of the Bearing Buddy protectors.

• Using 6000 lb Hubs on 7000 lb Axle
• As long as bearings on the hub you choose are compatible with the existing spindle on your axle, you can indeed change to hubs that have the desired wheel bolt pattern. The first step would be to confirm the dimensions of your spindles using an accurate measuring device like a digital caliper. Using a ruler would not provide a measurement that is precise enough. I have provided a diagram that will will show you where to take the measurements. The # 8-213-5UC1 hub would be compatible with the bea
