How To Tell If Ford Bronco Has LED Or Standard Tail Lights For Trailer Wiring Harness

Updated 04/06/2026 | Published 03/28/2026

Question:

How do I confirm if I have LED tail lights or not? I have a 2023 Bronco Outer Banks. I just installed a Curt Receiver which I recently bought from etrailer and I am ready to get a trailer. So, I need to know how to determine what type of wiring harness to get. Thank you in advance, Mark C. Hassler

Hey Mark! Thanks for your continued business. We appreciate it. :)

We get questions like this a lot as it's hard to tell sometimes if you have LED or halogen / incandescent tail lights. If you look at the taillight housing and see bulbs through the lense, or if you go from inside the trunk to change the bulb and you can remove the bulb for replacement, you have the standard non-LED bulbs.

If you don't have replaceable bulbs and instead have more of light assembly fixtures in the housing (for lack of better words), then you have LED. I did a quick google search "ford bronco led vs standard taillights" and there were a few pictures that made it easy to see. I did find a pic of one with LED lights on our site so if it looks like the pic here, you have LED!

-With LED tail lights # C42WR
-With non-LED standard bulb tail lights # C87BR

Let me know if you need more help!

Andrew N., Thank you for the response to my question. You helped me confirm that I have LED tail lights on my Outer Banks Bronco...... I now will be ordering wiring harness for my vehicle to go with the Curt receiver that I bought and installed a month ago.... Thanks, Mark

@Mark Awesome, I'm glad I was able to help you! I think the LED lights are better looking and more reliable, so that's a good thing that you have LED :) Luckily that harness is plug and play so you won't have any wiring to do.
