Hey Mitch! For your 2000 Toyota Tundra with the 4.7L V8 and no factory tow package, I recommend the following setup to get you ready to tow your Fleetwood travel trailer:

-etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # e87KR

-Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness # C55367

-Universal 7-Way Installation Kit # ETBC7

-Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR

The etrailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with a 5,000 lb towing and 500 lb tongue weight capacity. The Curt wiring harness plugs into your truck's existing wiring to give you a 4-way connector, and the # ETBC7 upgrades that to a 7-way so you can add your brake controller. You will also need a ball mount like the # e66PR for towing, and an anti-rattle # e38FV is a nice addition to any setup.

The Tow-Pro Liberty is going to be the best option for a brake controller. It is simple, reliable, and won't take up space in the cab. The main unit mounts out of sight under the dash, leaving only a small control knob visible. Since your Tundra doesn't have the factory tow package, you'll need to hardwire the brake controller for installation.

Where are you headed with the Fleetwood once you get the Tundra set up for towing?

Will be flatland for now, gulf coast. Does the break controller allow manual trailer break control as well As auto breaking? I have had under dash before that let me apply the trailer brakes by hand.

@MitchB yes, all you have to do is press the control knob, which also acts as the override to engage the brakes manually. The Gulf Coast sounds like a great place to start! Enjoy the trip!
