Question:

- I have a 2021 Kia Sedona LX - My vehicle has a Curt hitch #13115 and 4-flat connector Curt# 56332 - - Im getting a new utility trailer with electronic brakes. The trailer comes wired with a 7-way connector. My question: what do I need on my vehicle to be able to use the brakes? New vehicle side 7 way connector? Brake controller? Brake controller install kit? Wiring? Thanks

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you need. You will need a 7-way connector as well as a brake controller.

You'll first need to choose a brake controller. The option with the easiest installation would be the Curt # C51180 Echo wireless brake controller which plugs inline between the trailer and the 7-way on the tow vehicle. The Echo requires less wiring, because you'd use your smart phone to operate the brake controller. You'd use our # ETBC7L install kit to wire up the 7-way. The install kit includes the 7-way adapter that would plug into the 4 pole connector provided by your existing # C56332. The only wiring needed would be one circuit ran to the vehicle's positive battery terminal.

If you'd prefer a more traditional controller that's fully wired into the vehicle, the # RED24FR Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty would be a great option. The Tow-Pro Liberty is a remote mount controller, the actual controller mounts under the dash where it can't be seen (and you can't bang your knees on it). The braking is controlled by the operating knob that can be mounted anywhere within the driver's reach. An unused switch knockout in the dash makes for a perfect spot.

If you decide to go this route, you'd need the # RED69FR wiring pigtail and a different install kit, part # ETBC7. This kit includes the same adapter mentioned above, as well as all the necessary wiring, hardware and circuit breakers to complete the installation.
