Great product and looks sleek. I installed on my 2020 Subaru Outback Touring XT and attached to my factory installed hitch. With a vice and hammer, I had to bend the supplied bracket straight for the correct mount orientation; it turned out great though! I gave 4 ??'s because of several factors: 1) After taking a bit of time routing the 12 awg wire to the battery, I could have used a foot or two more wire; my car isn't even that long, and I took a pretty direct route. I even measured and preplanned, thinking I'd be fine. Had to use some spare 12 awg wire I had on hand. 2) As another reviewer stated, I was having problems with the 4-pin sliding out of the bracket. But, I fixed the problem by tying one of the supplied zip-ties around the rubber 4-pin edge and two of the bracket screws, which now holds it in place. 3) It would have been nice to have a set of screws and nuts to attach the bracket to the hitch; I just utilized the existing ones from my 4-pin factory installed bracket.
All in all, I'm really happy with this product!
This is a nice kit and I lucked out in that my car was used in an installation video making it pretty easy for me to install it. It works well. I did need to fabricate a mount for it though or would have had to order a extension mount kit that I didn't know I needed when I ordered the kit. It all worked out fine in the end and worked great towing my new trailer about 2500 miles in the few weeks since installing the kit. The reason for only three stars is the price. 4x what some competitor kits cost.
The things that bothered me the most is seen in the picture I've attached. How can you charge $117 for the kit and use screws that are visible to anyone looking that rust after three weeks? After taking this picture I went to the local hardware store and bought some stainless screws and locking nuts. They will look perfect as long as I own the van. A little more thought and a few $s in better hardware and this would be a 4 or 5 star review.
Had some shipping issues; however, customer service agents did an excellent job resolving them.
Actually, the 4-flat plug that connects to the car's 4 flat plug was bad. Internally the brown wire was leaking to the yellow blinker wire.
etrailer customer service answered, was knowledgeable, and took care of it.

Bolts rusted very shortly after install; would be 5 stars if it came with stainless bolts - for the price it should.
Everything in the kit was of good quality except the 12 gauge wire was not long enough to reach the battery on the 2026 Subaru Ascent. I had to add approximately 3' of wire to make it work.
This part was installed on a 2018 Subaru Outback. I did use a CURT 57204 bracket to help stiffen the mounting area since I'm using an Ecohitch Hidden Hitch. I also had to use a little more 12 gauge wire than was provided in the kit, as suggested in etrailer's installation video. Great product and very useful videos made this installation a breeze. Thanks etrailer!
PS - Use this product if you have already installed etrailer's 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector in your Subaru.
It works, but requires more than the flimsy rubber strap included with the set. I used gorilla tape but will have to come up with a more elegant solution.
This fit ALMOST perfectly on my 2007 Tacoma. I zip tied the four pin trailer connection to the tow vehicle harness. Besides the four pin, I only needed the black power wire because I am using a Curt Echo bluetooth brake controller. I ran the power wire along the frame, into the cab, through the firewall and to the battery via the included breaker. I zip tied the unused wires to the harness and wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape. The included bracket almost fit my OEM four pin mount perfectly. The holes were a bit too narrow but I just had to widen them with a drill bit pressing outward. The setup looks stock and I'm very pleased with it.

Like many other on here, my screws have rusted. I would gladly pay the extra $2 for stainless ones to come in the kit. Otherwise everything is still working good.
Awesome kit I installed on my Odyssey. I didn't end up using the included bracket as I'd gotten an offset-mount for my hitch, but one of the included bracket bolts came in handy to secure the ground wire. I did have to lengthen both the ground cable and power wire, though with better routing the power wire could likely be enough. The ground wire is thicker, 8- or 10-gauge, so ensure you're using the proper yellow connectors and heat-shrinking the connections against the weather. Seriously great kit and accompanying videos for my exact vehicle to utilize the Curt Echo brake controller.
I installed the ETBC7L 7 way adapter plug on my new 2022 Santa Cruz to be used with the Curt C51180 wireless brake controller. I was able to bend the 7way mounting bracket flange in vise from 90 degrees to about 45 degrees to match the Hyundai OEM hitch 7way mounting bracket. The wire to battery I encased all the way with protective flexible cover. I mounted the circuit breaker under hood by battery and capped breaker terminals with rubber cover that was cut off 4way plug, it worked perfectly. This is one neat little pickup with its 5000 lb tow rating with a brake controller. It was a fairly easy installation and the best way I think without cutting into vehicles wiring for a brake controller. I have enclosed some pics.

Curt wireless Brake Controller still works flawlessly. Excellent product
I installed this on a 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid that has an OEM tow hitch. After boring out the bracket in the kit a bit at one end it had a solid fit to the bolts already in place for the OEM bracket. I ran the black wire from left of center above the tow hitch bracket to the other side and came through a rubber grommet behind the turn signal. To gain access to the grommet I had to remove a panel under the car (three screws and a clip). The circuit breaker was attached to a flange of metal to the right of the battery. My only trouble was a secure attachment of the ground wire. The supplied self-tapping screw did not hold the ground wire snug. I drilled a hole and used a stainless steel bolt and nut. I drove about 100 miles using a Curt Bluetooth brake controller towing a pop-up camper. So far all is good.

Super easy to install I use a wireless brake controller so I don't have a cabin mounted one.
Cheap. When I plugged in the 7way connector two of the blades inside bent to back of connector. Straightened them out with needle nose and another bent. Don't buy!
My issue is with how to mount the plug to the car. Earlier, we bought a Draw Tite hitch to the Subaru Outback and I watched the video for the vehicle. It was informative with regard to routing the black wire to the battery, but showed nothing about mounting the bracket. When I called in, I was directed to a $34 extension which used zip ties. I ended up going to Lowe's and getting a metal elbow for less than $10, which I cut down to size and drilled offset holes (to accommodate the angle of the hitch arm) and attached it using larger self taping screws. This process took me most of the day. E-Trailer was also aware that the wiring supplied was not long enough, but didn't include the extra 5' needed.
After installing the ZCI wiring kit with the 4-way harness, this 7-way kit plugs in easily into it.

This worked out well with the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug-in w/ Bluetooth App.
Heavy duty unit…better construction than previous 7 way. Kit came with all needed items for the upgrade. Installed on a Subaru 2025 Outback Wilderness.
While it was easy to install on my Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2023, one hiccup was that the mounting holes for the braket did not line up with the existing Toyota OEM hitch bracket screw studs. If the holes were oval shaped it would have saved me the trouble of enlarging one of the holes.
1 year later and the entire thing is junk. Completely corroded inside. Don't waste your time with this if you plan on using it outside.see photo i pulled out the failed black material inside to see the broken connections due to corrosion.
Worked well for what I needed, I had to cut and splice wires because I did not get one with USCAR connector when installing the Red57AR I got it to work, the only real issue was the wire provided to connect up to the battery was not long enough.
This kit was fairly easy to install in 24 Subaru Outback. I did have to flatten the bracket to interface with the original 4pin mount. I used a rubber hammer and gently tapped it flat. Also, the brake wire provided it too short. I bought 25 feet of 10 guage strand wire and had about a foot left over. Was able to run the brake wire from the battery to the hitch plug by running it along the inside of the driver side fender (access through engine bay just above the strut cap, down the inside of the door frame, poking through the wiring harness grommet and sealing the hole with silicon, then gently lifting the floor molding
There is a clip connected to the wiring harness track that allowed me to snap the wire in place. Under the seatbelt floor molding, under the foam tru k flooring and dropping the wire through the grommet under the spare tire. Grounded the plug to the hitch. Works great. Using a prodigy of brake controller.
I really appreciate the videos for installing on Highlander's. I installed this on a 2020 Highlander Hybrid and here's some of my feedback:
1. The receiver was too hard for the screws. I broke a bit and none of the self-taping screws could get through the metal. Heads kept breaking off. I ended up using a much bigger bolt. I had to drill larger holes in the bracket, but could finally mount the bracket to the receiver.
2. Test placement because the wiring bundle is pretty stiff and the spare tire can make contact when dropping it. Also, there isn't much flexibility in the bundle with could affect where you put the ground.
3. In the hybrid, the 12V battery is in the back of the hybrid. Just aft of the battery is a rubber plug and drain hole. Using a pick, I poked a hole in the plug and fed the wire through the plug. Worked very well.
4. I ran the power wire through the drain hole and out the bottom of the underbody plastic. Then I pushed the wire back up into the cavity and tried to getting the wire to fold/bend towards the center of the car. This allowed be to route the wire to the side and up along a factory wire bundle inside the bumper. This way the wire did NOT come all the way out the underbody plastic, which is possible. Get the wire from the side was a bit tough because of bodywork and the receiver, but, thanks to small hands, I managed to grab the wire and pull it out of the cavity and run it as described above. You may be able to remove the underbody plastic which might make this a lot easier and reveal a smarter way to route it to the kit.
5. The floor of the battery compartment is corrugated, but there is space to install the fuse. I'll post some pics on the product page.
6. I used the same bracket for the ground, but did NOT use the self-taping screw for the ground. Instead, I used a screw with a flat and split washer, and nut to attach it.
7. Locally, I was quoted $200 to install a 7-way kit. I enjoy doing this work, but that was probably a better deal than buying this kit and installing myself. But, other than the drilling issues, it was very easy.
8. I'm using a Curt Echo Bluetooth brake controller. I haven't used the controller yet, but it did power up and I was able to pair it for my HyHi.
My pictures show the drain plug I used, where I mounted the fuse, the view of the kit from the receiver end, and a view behind the receiver that shows the larger bolts I used for mounting the bracket, and where I attached the ground wire.

Thanks for the great video on installing the 7 pin adapter (ETBC7L). The video was even on a Toyota Grand Highlander - my exact vehicle. I didn't like how low the video installed the Part# 18136 "no drill long bracket" I also ordered, so I made a few bends to this bracket to integrate it more into the the lower molding. This raised it up another inch or so compared to your video. You can see the height difference in the screen grabs of your install versus mine. Bottom line, you can use this bracket to fabricate for you unique situation. It still shocks me that Toyota did not include a 7pin adapter, but thanks to etrailer for finding me an alternative.

One year later, and this bracket and the adapter is still holding up great! I am in the Pacific Northwest and our vehicles are dirty 9 months of the year. I am impressed that the connection is always firm and robust.
