Video Transcript for Pollak Wiring PK12711U Review

Today we're going to review part number PK12711U. This is a Pollak Mounting Bracket for the Pollak 7-way RV style trailer connectors. This part is a right angle mounting bracket to put your Pollak 7-way RV style trailer connector on your vehicle. It will conveniently mount on your rear bumper of your truck or SUV. It's a zinc-plated construction, has a nice black epoxy coating on it, protects against rust and corrosion. Basically I just wanted to show you it does fit quite a few different Pollack 7-ways. I pulled one here just to show you what it would look like.

Basically it would just slide right in there and then you'd mount this to there. The mounting hardware is not included with this part number. We do sell that separately. This would be the mounting hardware. It comes with screws to mount the 7-way to this and then screws to mount this bracket to your vehicle. This part number on the hardware is PK11926 and again that's sold separately.

If you would like we do also sell this bracket with the hardware. That complete kit is part number PK12711U-26. On this bracket itself, again what you would do is just take your 7-way, drop it right in there, bolt it in and then your wiring would go right through here. Now also if you'd like this one is designed to use the screws to screw into your back of your vehicle. They do offer a no-drill installation for this bracket if you like. Basically what that is, that's a bracket that uses a clamp that would bolt to this bracket so there's no drilling needed.

Again those are sold separately; they're part number 18140, which is the short no-drill bracket. The part number 18136 is just the long no-drill bracket. That should do it for the review on part number PK12711U. This is the Pollack Mounting Bracket for the Pollak 7-way RV style trailer connectors. .

Good product but does not work at all in my application. I was replacing a factory GMC trailer hitch which has the trailer plug mounted to the hitch. This is the recommended mount to use but it is incorrect for the factory light plug. Factory plug is a twist lock mount that is also manufacture by Pollak, same as this mount and they should know that this will not work. This mount is for add on trailer lighting which is different. I cut the factory mount off and welded it to my new hitch and everything was good. Good product just wrong application. Pollak should know better. 411919

Very happy with my purchase of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder trailer hitch, 7 pin wiring harness and bracket. The videos really speed up the installation, especially the internal vehicle disassembly and wiring. Everything went to plan with no surprises. The parts are well engineered and good quality. I printed out the 7 pin connector schematic and used a 12 volt test bulb to verify functionality. I didn't break any of the plastic clips or skin my knuckles, which is a first for me. I purchased an inexpensive panel clip tool set, which makes removing the plastic trim a breeze. A screwdriver would work fine, but I needed an excuse to buy some more tools. I removed the blanking plugs from the external harness connectors before installing the hitch. It's easier to get at them. Don't pry the connectors off the body using a screwdriver. Use a pair of needle nose pliers on the reverse side of the clip to release them from the sheet metal. Excellent web site and videos make it easy to select the right parts. 476038

Like many others stated, super easy installation of the hitch. Only took me about 30 min by myself. It took me about an hour for the wiring harness and bracket since I had to find another bolt and nut since it only came with 3. The thing that gave me the most trouble was the wiring harness. I couldn't bring the cannon plug down towards me at all so I had to do it all by feel. The mounting bracket for the wiring harness I chose to flip upside down and bend towards the rear of the car and down so I could hide the wiring and hitch completely. The other reason was because I didn't want the bracket to catch on anything because it was lower than the bumper. I ordered the supplies on Fri and they were here mid day the following Tuesday. With all the great videos, a job that might have taken me 4-5 hours only took 2 hours plus knowing where the cannon plug was helped tremendously. If I hadn't known where it was I would have prob had to do a splice job. This job, in my opinion, looks professional. Thanks ETRAILER. 399634

It worked perfectly. Held the harness. I used different mounting screws because the ones that came were a little small. Don't get the 3 day shipping it took 5 days to get to me. I should have used another online vendor even though it was more expensive because at least it would have arrived on time. 554594

It was suggested I purchase this bracket to assist in mounting my 7-way trailer harness (item #118253) to my 2010 Honda pilot. When I tried to attach the bracket underneath and behind the bumper, I discovered it was too tall and very difficult to fit where it was required. I also found that the bracket is a 90-degree bend and will not go flush against the bumper wall. The bumper wall runs at an angle and you would need a bracket with an approx 35-degree angle to fit flush against the bumper, that's important if you want a professional clean looking mounting of the trailer harness (7- way insert) like I installed (see attached pics). So forget this bracket, Just save your money and mount onto the bumper wall, plenty thickness and you get a clean look...Maybe one day they will make the proper bracket for such an installation... 423809

Excellent product. It is very study. It won't bend easily which is nice for me as I drive over lots of stuff in the woods and on the farm. 85110

My F150 had an OEM 4 pin trailer plug and hitch. The 118242 - 7 pin connector with wiring harness is the ticket. The hardest part of the install was dropping the spare tire. The plugs connect directly to the factory plugs and the harness length is the correct length. The 3035-P brake controller connector harness was just as easy. Plugs right in to the OEM plug next to the ECM connector and the other end into the brake controller. The PK12711U-26 - 7 pin bracket and hardware kit fastens directly the OEM bracket that is on the hitch. My truck had an OEM 4 pin trailer towing set up with the hitch. The OEM hitch had the bracket welded on it to attach the 7 pin mounting bracket to it. These kits make this install very easy and professional looking. If I have one complaint, the hardware kit to attach the 7 pin connector bracket is set up to fasten the bracket directly to the bumper with 2 - self tapping screws provided in the kit. The kit also includes 4 #12 machine screws with toothed washer nuts to attached the 7 pin connector to the bracket. This is fine if your truck hitch doesn't have an attaching bracket welded to it. The kit should included in it 6 #12 machine screws and nuts along with the 2 self tapping screws. Since my OEM hitch actually had a bracket welded to it to attach the 7 pin bracket to it, I had to use two other #12 screws and nuts to attach the 7 pin bracket to the OEM bracket on the hitch. Not a big deal, just a thought. It took me about 2 hours, start to finish to install the 7 pin connector, trailer controller, and add the two relays in the OEM relay/fuse box under the hood. I highly recommend these kits. 166106

I'm extremely satisfied with the product and service. I run an automotive repair facility and it is very important that the products we use are factory fit. Etrailer did a great job helping us decide what we need and getting it to us promptly. 691624

Nice product. But comes with 4 bolts (for the plug) and 2 tapping screws to mount. However the hitch I bought had predrilled mount for a bracket. So I used 2 bolts for mounting the bracket and the other 2 for the plug. The tapping screws will go in my tool box. 682387

Used with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector (Item # 118266) on a Nissan Xterra 2011. Screwed it right to the bumper next to the hitch and bolted in the 7-way trailer connector. 665570

The bracket is the exact replacement of the OE that was scrapped off the bumper due to a elevated rail road crossing. The RV Socket Circuit Tester reduces the effort of hooking up the towed vehicle to check-out trailer wiring. Simple. Thanks. 656979

Lined up perfectly. Wish it had come with the bolts to install on the bracket that was welded on the hitch. I luckily had some stainless bolts laying around handy though. It did line up perfectly. 654398

I ordered a receiver, wiring and brake controller for my new Nissan Frontier. Christopher was great to deal with and he handled making sure my order was complete and correct. He answered all my questions. The items arrived promptly and I began the install. There were two issues - not unusual, and in both instances a call to etrailer resulted in friendly, knowledgeable folks giving me fast, correct advice/fixes/email articles that made the install a snap. I've forgotten the first women's name (sorry!) Molly handled the second issue and within minutes had the answer to why my trailer brakes were locking. She sent me an article detailing how some of the wiring from Nissan was installed backward, how to diagnose this was my issue and how to correct it. That made short work of that issue. Accept that those of us who do these installs only a couple of times in our life will have questions/issues and buy from the folks who are going to provide the experience and help to make the project quick and enjoyable. I wouldn't buy anywhere else. 655152

This was a great fit with the 7-pole connector that I ordered from etrailer. The installation video for the 7-pole connector explained how to install this piece as well. For my installation, I used longer screws than what came with the part because of the shape of my bumper fascia, but I would order this again if I was installing another connector. 651598

I had a local shop install the hitch and wiring harness. I finished up the trailer light receptacle install, routing the wires through a rubber drain plug in the RAV Tire well. Sealed up with clear silicon sealer. A clean long term install. No wire to dangle out of the trunk lid. The hitch and trailer lights work perfectly! Robert Lee Hunt 650790

Great product. It lined up perfect on my drawtie hitch. It included 2 self tapping screws to mount the bracket to your hitch, but since mine already had a tab from the factory I had to find nut and bolt to use instead of the self tapping screws. No biggie though, I had some laying around the garage. 615750

Very easy install. Installed it on a Drawtight hitch for my 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. If you install it on the Drawtight hitch, you'll need a couple of extra small bolts to attach it to the bracket that is welded onto the hitch. Bolts the same size as the ones you used to attach the receptacle to the bracket should work fine. Once installed it is nice and sturdy. 612564

Bought for a 2018 Nissan Frontier. Fit the wire plug perfectly and the Screws and nuts to secure the plug to the bracket were fine. The two screws to attach the bracket to the vehicle were way too small to use. They wouldn't work on the mounting tab on the Draw-Tite hitch or the factory holes under the bumper. I suppose if your creating new holes they would be okay. Appears to be a quality piece and I'm very satisfied with it. 586276

If you haven't already decided on a Tekonsha brake controller I highly recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 because of the LCD screen that makes it much easier to use than the previous models that require you to remember codes. If...

  • Wiring Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 7-Way with a 2018 Toyota Highlander
  • If your 2018 Toyota Highlander didn't come with the factory tow package then I highly recommend installing the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22119. This comes with everything that you need for a fully functioning 7-Way plus it includes an adapter so that you can install a Tekonsha brake controller. To mount the 7-Way connector to your trailer hitch I recommend using the mounting bracket # PK12711U and the no-drill unit # 18140. I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy...

  • Recommended 7-Way Wiring Connector for a 2016 Ford Explorer
  • It sounds like you have found the rectangular plug that is indeed used for the trailer wiring. The 7-Way that I recommend using is the Tekonsha T-One # 118272 because we have found the Tekonsha wiring products to be very reliable. You can use the mounting brackets # PK12711U and # C57202 to secure the 7-Way connector to the rear of your 2016 Ford Explorer. I have attached a video of this connector being installed on a similar 2016 Explorer that you can reference. It also shows where...

  • Parts Needed To Tow a Trailer with Brakes Using a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse
  • Yes, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 will work perfectly on your 2017 Chevrolet Traverse once you install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118271. The only the thing you will need is a bracket for the trailer connector, I recommend the Trailer Connector Mounting Bracket part # PK12711U. To complete your towing setup, you will also need a trailer hitch. I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75528 because of the increased...

  • 7-Way Bracket Recommendation for Use with Trailer Wiring 118266 for 2011 Nissan Pathfinder
  • The trailer wiring harness part # 118266 that you referenced is a 7-way which bolts to a standard 7-way bracket like the part # 319-S7-61 which you referenced. This would be a good option but it will require drilling through the bracket to your rear bumper. The most popular option I would recommend is the part # PK12711U instead which has hole pre-drilled.

  • P2 Brake Controller and 7-Way Recommendation for a 2004 Ford F-150 with factory 4-Way
  • Everything you picked out is exactly what you need for a plug in play install of a 7-way and brake controller on your 2004 Ford F-150 that has a factory 4 pole. It sounds like you already watched the install video for the # 118247, but I attached this also. The 7-way of the # 118247 is the blade style 7-way also. I attached install videos and installation instructions for these products for you to check out also.

  • Recommended Mounting Bracket for Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56226
  • For a mounting bracket that will work well with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56226 that you referenced, I recommend the Pollak Mounting Bracket # PK12711U. This right-angle bracket will allow you to mount the connector under the rear bumper of your Nissan Frontier and features a black, epoxy coating to protect against rust and corrosion. The necessary hardware is included. For a no-drill installation, you can add the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18140. I have attached...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For 2016 Chevy Traverse Without Tow Package
  • For your 2016 Chevy Traverse that is not factory wired with a tow package, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118271.
