Question:
Have owned boat trailer for six plus years on which the brakes are shot and have been the entire time I owned it. I don't need the brakes as I tow with a very large truck. The hubs and drums are rotten due to constant salt water immersion. Can I replace the drum hubs with idler hubs?

I certainly understand your reason for wanting to change them and it is possible to replace your drum hubs with idler hubs. Normally, it is recommended that if you have brakes on your trailer then you should keep them for safer towing. To make the change, you need to match your inner and outer bearings, axle weight capacity, and bolt pattern. For example, if your trailer has 3,500-lb standard axles with an outer bearing like Item # L44649 and inner bearing like Item # L68149 then the Galvanized Trailer Idler Hub Assembly, Item # AKIHUB-545-35-G-K, will work for you.
