Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the 7" Long White/ 11" Long Red Conspicuity Reflective Tape

Today we'll be taking a look at the Optronics 7" long white by 11" long red Conspicuity Reflective Tape in a quantity of four in 18" long strips, Part #RE418T. This also comes as a quantity of eight, Part #RE18T. The Optronics Conspicuity Reflective Tape comes in 18" long strips by 2" wide. This reflective kit is rated at over 600 candle power per square foot. It is also hermetically sealed and unbreakable. It does mount on flat, as well as, curved surfaces and it is DOT Certified, as well as, being rated for seven years of use. It also complies with the J1967 for vehicle conspicuity material. Now let's go ahead and go over here to our enclosed trailer and we'll show you how to put them on.

As you notice, this trailer does not already have the conspicuity tape installed on it, as it doesn't meet the federal requirements where it's needed. We're adding them to give us an extra safety feature and adding more visibility to others around us. We're going to go ahead and line it up right here along the bottom of the trailer. We'll first go ahead and clean the back area with just a little bit of glass cleaner and a paper towel. Now as you can see, the back has a split in it that allows you to easily pull it off. It also has a checkered style pattern that gives high visibility, as well as, reflectivity to it.

It lets you know right here that it is DOT compliant by having a DOT-C2 stamped right onto the strip. I will go ahead and line up where we want to put it, simply hold it in place and we'll peel back the small portion right here. Go ahead and take the backing and fold it over and press firmly in on the strip to make sure it adheres fully to the side of our trailer. Now, since four strips come with the package, we'll go ahead and apply the other three the same way we did this one. Now as you can see we've added significant reflectivity to our trailer by adding the Optronics Conspicuity Reflective Tape strips, Part #RE418T. .

Going to lake and forgot to raise jack on trailer and bent jack at trailer and jack had a 45 degree slant / bend. replaced it with a " etrailer.com jack", more affordable than Walmart and Bass Pro !!!!!! Ordered reflective strips to place on back of boat motor , back of boat and trailer receiver. Etrailer.com prices are SO MUCH MORE lower than any other place I have found and / or shop at. With such a large inventory online, I'll be shopping here more often. AND shipping and service is FAST!!!!

Have added a new wiring harness and side marker lights, trailer looks like a X-mas tree going down the highway. VERY REFLECTIVE. The NEW TRAILER JACK IS SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE custom jack. ALL IS WELL HERE.

Recently bought and refurbished trailer.
Reflective
tape went on easily and has held well!
I was able to cut to size to fit between rails on trlr.
I included a pic. at this point the trlr has close to 2,000 miles on it since installed and has been pressure cleaned once and not one loose piece of reflective tape.

I think these are great products

by:

Identical to what I was replacing on my old trailer, heavy foil metal backing, they might last 20 years like my old ones did.

by:

My experience with etrailer has been great,I first ordered a wire harness and lights to redo a utility trailer, then i thought why not do led lights, same amount of wk,so i returned the 1st set,no problems ordered the led harness, lights, and extra side marker lights, then i ordered 3 sets of refective tape,I have just finished my trailer, its only a 5x14,but it looks great,it is fire engine red, expanded metal bottom, and tail gate, with bright lights,rear,3 side marker yellow each side,3 reflective tape each side,4 tapes on rear tail gate,i added chrome wheels,it really dressed out to a nice looking trailer,I am proud of how finished, and etrailer was great doing business with multiple times with,it was nice getting a thank you from them each time and being noticed as a return customer,I would recommend anyone to use them,Thanks You Guys

I have been proud of the lights i put on the trailer, they are bright, they really dressed the trailer up,along with all the dot tape, everyone cant help but notice the trailer at night, thanks again for a good product

by:

Instant stick and great reflective qualities. Last set lasted 4 years. All smiles here.

by:

Although it took much longer than expected(not your fault), I was very impressed with the continuous updates.

by:

Works well

All the products have been great. They were installed on an older livestock trailer and they just keeping going. The white LED lights we put on the inside work too good. When I first pulled them out I thought they were too small and would do the job. They are so good we rarely use the one up front because the back one does such a great job.
Thanks for the good products.

I researched the DOT requirements for my trailer. According to DOT I should have red reflecting markers on the back and the outer most side of the trailer towards the back, also there should be yellow reflecting markers at the outer most front side of the trailer. Basically the reflectors should duplicate what lights are on the trailer. I would assume if a light fails the reflector would add some visibility to the trailer. That being said there was no yellow product available. Therefore I cut the product into red and white and placed the red portion on the back and back sides of the trailer and the white to the front sides. The only issue was separating the backing from the reflector which required a knife and reading glasses. The glue seems to be a once chance application.

by:

I ordered a package of 8 DOT-C3 reflector strips for my trailer. The package indicated 8 strips but only contained 4. I called and the Service Representative immediately corrected the problem. A couple days later I received an additional 8 strips which was the original order.

There is no substitute for knowing your product. eTrailer meets or exceeds my expectation every time. They are very knowledgeable and professional!

Item was delivered as specified and is good quality. I spend a lot of time on the road for work; and this product is practically "standard issue" on trailers of all sizes, from trailers for hauling off-road toys through 45' semi-trailers. The reason it is so common is that it works very, very well; which anyone hauling "quads", dirt bikes, horses or other livestock will appreciate.

Have not installed the reflective stickers yet; as the horse trailer is undergoing some rehab work; which will culminate in a fresh coat of paint. I'm sure that it will install just as advertised and work as advertised.

by:

Not much to say. They are still stuck to the trailer and they still reflect light.

I pulled them off to paint the trailer. They were difficult to pull away, which is good! Replaced them with the same thing after painting.

by:

lites and protectors are great … had put them on my 2 year old trailer and have upgraded to a beefier trailer and had to have them on the new one. the reflector strips are just what I needed on the new trailer since the strips the manufacturer put on the trailer were damaged in transit. the new strips were easy to install and reflect from a 1/2 block away. thanks again etrailer …...

by:

As advertised - reflective stickers. Ideal for the pontoon trailer which virtually disappears at night with no boat on it. The "etrailer difference" is that it shipped with an hour of placing the order so that even the least costly shipping put it in my mailbox in 4 business days.

by:

The reflective tape installed perfectly on the side of our camper. And they are still there after our trip from Wisconsin to Texas and back!!

by:

This is the first time I've used these cut-to-length reflective strips. Seems pretty easy.

A great product in an easily manageable length. After a year on the job they have not faded. They have not come off. This is a winner.

No issues. Holding up well.

by:

Good quality. Make sure to measure and mark , once it touches a surface, its on. Stick very well. Have preasure washed my trailer several times and havent damaged any of these tapes.

by:

Great replacement for damaged reflector tape

by:

So far - so good. Adhesive is still sticking and have not noticed any fading.

etrailer is probably the best one stop trailer solution on the web. I just fabricated my own deck over dovetail tailed from scratch. I ordered just about everything I needed for the build. The sales staff are very knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend etrialer to anyone weather your rebuilding your trailer or fabricating a new trailer, they pretty much have everything your looking for with very good pricing and they stand behind every product they sell.

by:

Exactly what I was looking for, at a competitive price and was delivered so fast it surprised me to get it in the mail. Awesome company, I'll be back.

by:

Holds up to alot abuse on my son's wheel chair accessible van ramp and has not come off after alot of wear and tear. These are heavy duty and highly reflective.

Looks great on my trailer as well.

by:

Arrived today. Love that there were 8 in the pack. I can install one on each door of the trailer I am remodeling, one on each side(trailer is 10 ft cargo trailer) and use the other 4 on our 8 ft cargo trailer. These should make them very visible even if parked.

The size differences basically come down to what best fits the trailer, but here is more on that: Red and White Marking Tape Each segment of red or white marking tape must be from 6" to 18" long. • Adding Tail Lights To A Travel Trailer. Is The STL90RB Brighter Than The PE64AR?
Good morning Gregg good to hear from you again. Between the two lights you mentioned, the Optronics # STL90RB is going to be brighter than the Petersen # PE64AR. In this case more diodes is better and 31 diodes are certainly going to be brighter and more visible that 17 diodes. Companies like Optronics and Petersen do not measure the brightness of these lights so I am afraid I do not have any hard numbers I can give you. If your goal is for the light to be more visible in foggy conditions,...

  • Can I Put Conspicuity Reflective Tape on Diamond Pattern Steel Plate
I don't recommend putting the 7" Long White/ 11" Long Red Conspicuity Reflective Tape - (8) 18" Strips # RE18T on diamond plates because it's going to be tough to get it to stick without bubbles everywhere. With that said, it will certainly stick to flat metal surfaces without issue.

  • Does the LED Trailer Tail Light # STL68RB Have Reflectors Built-In
The 10-1/8" x 3-1/16" LED Trailer Tail Light # STL68RB that you referenced is not reflective so you will need additional reflectors like part # RE11RB or part # RE18T. We do offer some light options that have reflectors built-in but nothing in this size. The Stainless Steel Trim Ring # A68SSB is purely for looks. If you don't want to install it then there is no need to as you can see from the attached installation video on an enclosed trailer.
