Video Transcript for Peterson Conspicuity Reflective Tape Review

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at this conspicuity tape from Peterson. It's gonna be a reflective tape for your trailers, and depending on your local laws, you always wanna check those, this is required for safe hauling, and just to increase visibility on your trailer. We're gonna be showing you how to remove and replace a strip of this. These come in a kit of four strips, so if you're going to replace one on your trailer, it's gonna be great for you. So right here is the piece on our trailer that's certain to come up, so we're gonna go ahead and remove this and replace it with a new strip. The one we have today is 18" long from end to end, so it's a bit longer than our strip right here that's coming apart, but we can line up this white edge pretty okay right here and this'll make a solid replacement just to make sure we're still staying compliant with our local laws.

Just gonna go ahead and set that to the side and peel this one off right here. So we've got our surface mostly clean here, peeled back as much of the sticker as we could. It's pretty strong adhesive, so there is gonna be some residue left, but we'll come back through here, spray it down with some cleaning solution and get the surface as clean as we can with what we have left. Then we'll come back through with a fresh shop towel and make sure everything is perfectly dry here, because we don't want any moisture getting trapped underneath. Once you're happy with how clean the surface is, you can get your new reflective tape sticker.

We've got a strip here in the middle where we can peel back the backing very carefully there and line it up as best we can. We want this to go all the way to the edge and be level throughout. So right about there looks good. We'll try to stick that down as flat as we can and come back through with a tool here to try and remove any sort of air bubbles we might have underneath, again, just to make sure that that adhesive is sticking nice and strong to the side of our trailer. I will come back through with a grader knife here.

There's a little gap right there between the panels of our trailer. So I'm just gonna do a very careful slit down the side right there, just to make sure it's flat right there between the panels and then they can come back and peel the rest of the backing off and repeat that process of carefully applying that to the trailer here, making sure it stays level throughout. As far as replacing that reflective tape goes, that's about all there is to it. If you are doing this along the whole length of your trailer, maybe you've got a new trailer that you're setting up or rebuilding one, I would recommend maybe going with the large rolls of this tape that you can get, and cut to your exact length. That's gonna be better for larger applications like a whole trailer, but if you're just replacing, this is gonna do the trick just fine.

That'll do it. Thanks for watching..

18" Long x 2" wide. Alternating red/white reflector tape makes your truck or trailer more visible in low light. 7" White/11" red pattern. Industrial-strength adhesive backing for easy mounting. 4 Strips included.

I think we should have ordered these many years ago. Amazing how just a little extra item can be appreciated at the beginning of and end at unloading time can make the day that much more pleasant. A real pain in the back saver/muscle relaxer. 11#'s of lift effort vs 58#. Why waste the energy doing 58 times two ramps 2 to 10 times a day when you don't have to?

A little pricey wherever you find these, but tons of uses where you need extra visibility. I used it on the rear of my utility trailer and to hillbilly some rusty chrome on the rear shocks of my classic Honda trail bike!

Still stuck to where I put them!

I cut them in smaller strips to fit on luggage carrier. I put the on the bottom (for when the carrier is folded up) and on the and on the rear (for when the carrier is in use). Very easy to apply. Looks great. Will use some on my bike rack also.

Good adhesion and very reflective. Perf ect

Product was high quality, arrived quickly and worked well!

Great fast service, always have what I need...thanks so much.

Great prices quality items

Worked Great, Added them to a motorcycle trailer I am building..

Just what i was looking for at a reasonable price.

A year later, the tape is still adhering with no problems.

It's still on.

Good quality.

Highly reflective, extremely easy install. My trailer isn't very reflective so this makes it a LOT more visible at night for very little money and very little effort. Good stuff.

Works great. Makes my trailer much more visible at night. Is holding up well so far.

Extra bright. Illuminates trailer where there is no sidemarkers.

These are superior to those I ordered on [online]. These were put on and have not come off. The quality is great.

Good quality and stuck well to the trai ler

Still look great and holding up just fine. Really light up the trailer at night.

Terrific add to trailer and longer-than-trailer sail boat (easily attaches to the rear of the boat cover). Worth the small investment.

Fit perfectly on our cargo carrier frame. No problems.

Great stickers, very visible

Worked great ,easy to install

Works very well

fit my van perfectly and the quality of the build and finish was excellent

  • Does Optronics LED Clearance or Side Marker Light # 00212336P have a Reflector
From a legal standpoint Optronics LED Clearance or Side Marker Light # 00212336P would not meet any reflector requirements. If you like this light though you can get a separate reflector. I have included a link to the reflector-only options that we carry. To help with the look you might consider conspicuity tape such as # 465-4K.

  • Are There Compatible Reflectors For The Reese Caro Carrier # 63153
We don't currently have reflectors that will match the size of the Light Kit # 20174 for the 24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63153. We do carry reflective tape # 465-4K that could be placed on the frame of the basket and trimmed down to add some more visibility to your carrier.

  • Reflector Recommendation for the 23x59 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier
The existing holes on the 23x59 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier # CC-100 are actually meant for the tie-down hooks and aren't really designed for reflectors. I recommend keeping those holes open for the tie-downs and using reflective tape # 465-4K to increase visibility of the rack. Reflective tape will be just as effective as reflective pieces inserted into those openings.

  • Does Miro-Flex LED Trailer Tail Light # STL23CCRB Have Reflector
The trailer taillight part # STL23CCRB does not have a reflector built into it but you could add reflective tape part # 465-4K with it and you'd have the reflector portion covered as well.

  • Measurement Distance Between the Mounting Holes on the Red Conspicuity Reflector
The measurement of the mounting holes on the Red Conspicuity Reflector # RFL-12R are taken from center of the hole to center of the hole. The measurement is 7-7/8" apart center on center. The only other type of conspicuity reflector we have is the tape style like the Peterson Conspicuity Reflective Tape # 465-4K. If you wanted to tell me more about what your needs are, I would be happy to look further into this for you.

  • If Mounted on Pickup Truck will Carrier Swing Out Enough to Lower Tailgate?
The Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier will swing out and to the side of your truck. You can see this in the review video. Your tailgate should be able to open. Finally, if it were me, I would use some Peterson # 465-4K reflective tape on the sides and rear-facing sides of the carrier for extra visibility.

  • Is It Okay To Travel With Cargo Carrier Folded Down and Empty
You absolutely can travel with the cargo carrier folded down and empty. Some cargo carries like the Curt # C18151 has reflectors built into the back face, so it'll be easily visible from behind even at night. Just don't forget it's back there when you back the vehicle. If your carrier doesn't have reflectors on it, we offer Conspicuity Tape like part # 465-4K that you could apply to a clean, flat surface on the carrier.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Class I Hitch on 2018 Hyundai Sonata
I'd recommend you go with a platform type rack, as they are easier to load than the hanging style racks. My favorite reasonably priced platform-style rack is the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider, part # HR200Z. The rack can handle wheelbases up to 60 inches, and includes the hitch lock. It also provides lockable ratcheting hooks to hold the bikes in place. The center mast will fold rearward for easier access to the vehicle's cargo area. Please see the product description video I've linked...

  • Can Reflectors Be Added to the 19x47Curt Cargo Carrier
This reflective tape # 465-4K would be a great addition to the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier part # C18110. You could also drill into the carrier to install plastic reflectors like part # RE15RK. You might could intall the # RE15RK with some long zip ties instead of drilling.

  • Recommended Reflector to Add to the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR
There are no reflectors that come with, or are made specifically for the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR, but that doesn't mean you cannot add some yourself. The Oralite Reflector # RT21RB that you referenced is definitely an option. You could also use Conspicuity Tape # 465-4K as well to make the bike rack much more visible. Really any stick-on reflective gear will do the trick.

  • Can LED Trailer Stop, Turn, and Tail Lights be Installed on Guide Posts on a Boat Trailer
Technically you could install LED tail light # STL78RB wherever you wanted. I haven't seen stop, tail, and turn lights on guide posts but I'm sure it can be done. If you just want lights on the guide posts to make them easier to see then there are lights just for that, # CE27656A. They fit on 2 inch diameter posts. You might also be interested in some conspicuity tape such as # 465-4K.

  • How to Increase Visibility of the Fulton Boat Guide # FGB1500100
The Fulton Boat Guide, part # FGB1500100, does not have a light on the top of the poles. If you want the lights we have the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons with LED Lights for Boat Trailers - 40" Tall - 1 Pair # CE27740. To add just the lights you can use LED Light Kit for Post-Style Boat Guide-Ons # CE27656A. To increase visibility you could put Conspicuity Tape, part # 465-4K, on the upright poles of the Fulton Boat Guides.

  • Recommended Lights to Increase Visibility on Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack
The Optronics Sealed, Streamline LED Trailer Light # STL79RB referenced in your question will work to provide an additional light on your bike rack, however there may be easier options. You might have trouble mounting the light assembly to the rack itself and the 3-wire design will not allow for easy disconnect when you are not using the bike rack. For an easier option, I recommend looking at the LED Light Kit # 98174LED. You can easily mount these to your bike by using the Mounting Bracket...

  • Is 2004 Subaru Forester Trailer Wiring Harness Strong Enough for Yakima Rack and Roller Trailer
If your Yakima Rack and Roll trailer was made after October 2010 then that would mean it has LED lights on it. LED lights draw very little power compared to incandescent lights and using them and 2 additional lights are well within the abilities of the trailer wiring harness on your 2004 Subaru Forester Turbo. Even if the lights were not LED, the lights on older versions of the Rack and Roll trailers would likely not be enough power draw to be a problem, even considering adding 2 more...
