Stacked-plate heat exchangers have long been considered the most effective type of oil or transmission cooler, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. As a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube-and-fin, or even plate-and-fin, varieties.

I just received the Derale D13403 transmission oil cooler and the Firestone Ride-Rite air suspension system for my truck. I have not installed them yet but my experience with the ordering process was excellent. I placed my order on a Saturday afternoon and received confirmation of shipment later the same day. Everything was packaged very well and free delivery was quick. I have ordered from etrailer before and will continue to use them as my needs arise.. 114547

  • Best Transmission Cooler For 2019 Honda Odyssey
The most efficient transmission cooler option for your 2019 Honda Odyssey is the largest transmission cooler that you can get to fit in front of the radiator. The second best placement is between the AC condenser and the radiator that allows for moderate air flow. The efficiency of a transmission cooler is based mostly off it's size and placement. I recommend Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 that measures 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep. The stacked-plate...

  • Recommended Supplemental Transmission Cooler for 2011 Chevy Tahoe with Factory Cooler
Adding a supplemental cooler to your factory transmission cooler is what is recommended in most cases because the factory cooler is most likely working fine and adding a secondary cooler in line will just assist in the cooling already taking place. I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets # D13503 for a good option, but the # D13403 is an even better and more efficient option. For either installation, you will want the Derale Snap-In Radiator...

  • How To Install A Transmission Cooler In Conjunction With A Factory Auxiliary Transmission Cooler
In order to install the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 in conjunction with your factory auxiliary transmission cooler on your vehicle, you have two options. You can install the cooler before the factory auxiliary cooler or after the factory auxiliary cooler. You will not need any additional parts to do so. I recommend using the cooler in series with the factory radiator cooler. To do this you need to determine the return line to the transmission. Warm...

  • Can a Transmission Cooler be Installed Vertically Instead of Horizontally
Yes, the core in Derale transmission cooler # D13403 can be mounted so that the lines enter and exit from the side rather than the top. There is enough pressure in the lines to push the fluid through no matter how you choose to mount it! I have linked the installation instructions for you.

  • Do Transmission Coolers Have to Install Right Side Up Or Can they be Upside Down
The Derale stacked plate transmission coolers like part # D13403 can be mounted in any orientation that you need including having the hose fittings down. The line pressure from the transmission will push all of the fluid through the cooler regardless of how it is mounted. My recommendation on mounting this transmission cooler is finding a location that maximizes air flow through the cooler. Ideally, this would be in front of the radiator or AC condenser. Either fitting style would...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for a 2015 Mazda CX9
The best standard mount transmission cooler for your 2015 Mazda CX9 is the largest one you have space available for in front of your radiator behind your grill. I recommend using the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 as this is a fairly large standard mount transmission cooler that features a plate and fin technology which is far superior to the industry standard tube and fin design. As long as you have 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep of space in front...

  • How to Route Supplemental Transmission Cooler with Factory Cooler on Chevy Silverado
The ideal setup is to run the fluid from the factory cooler, to the supplemental cooler, and then back to the transmission. This will keep the fluid as cool as possible. If you are worried about it being too cold like in the winter you would need to just let the truck idle to warm it up and then you will be good to go. Or the ideal solution is to use a thermostatic bypass that allows the cooler to be bypassed till the fluid reaches 180 degrees. For that you would need # D15719. Running...

  • Can a Derale Transmission Cooler be Used with an Allison 2200MH Transmission on a Motorhome
On the Allison transmissions you would need to go to a larger hose and fittings to avoid any problems when using a transmission cooler such as # D13403. But what I recommend is to use core # D54012 which does have -12AN fittings already. The largest inner diameter hose we have is 1/2 inch such as # D15799 so if you do need larger hose it would need to be obtained locally.
