Stacked-plate heat exchangers have long been considered the most effective type of oil or transmission cooler, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. As a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube-and-fin, or even plate-and-fin, varieties.

Absolutely awesome!!!! Took 100 degrees out of the Trans! Pulling a trailer through the mountains. 100% recommended. It didn't fit quite perfect on my 2014 yukon and had to buy more hose but worth every penny spent! I will buy again

Cooler was well built and fit my 2002 Silverado with some slight modifications to the existing bracing. It seems to cool well but I haven’t towed anything heavy yet in warmer temps to know how well it cools above the stock cooler.

I just received the Derale D13403 transmission oil cooler and the Firestone Ride-Rite air suspension system for my truck. I have not installed them yet but my experience with the ordering process was excellent. I placed my order on a Saturday afternoon and received confirmation of shipment later the same day. Everything was packaged very well and free delivery was quick. I have ordered from etrailer before and will continue to use them as my needs arise..

This transmission cooler is a true game changer. We are now able to climb steep grades without overheating the transmission. Installation was fairly straightforward, and it fit in the same location as the original cooler. We have traveled over 4500 miles since installation and are very happy with its performance.

  • Parts Needed to Safely Tow a Pop Up Camper with a 2016 Kia Sedona
    1. Normally I'd say that your 2016 Kia Sedona would be just fine as long as the pop up has brakes, but since your towing capacity without brakes is only 1,000 lbs it would be a good idea to install one. As far as the warranty is concerned you are protected by the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle...

  • 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche Transmission Cooler Recommendation
The Flex-a-lite Translife Transmission Cooler # FLX4126 that you ordered is pretty large at 20" wide x 10" tall x 3/4" deep. Your best option is going to be to go with a smaller cooler that is a more efficient style like the stacked plate Derale part # D13403 which measures 13" Wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep so that you can fit both your factory and aftermarket cooler installed at same time.

  • Best Transmission Cooler For 2019 Honda Odyssey
The most efficient transmission cooler option for your 2019 Honda Odyssey is the largest transmission cooler that you can get to fit in front of the radiator. The second best placement is between the AC condenser and the radiator that allows for moderate air flow. The efficiency of a transmission cooler is based mostly off it's size and placement. I recommend Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13403 that measures 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep. The stacked-plate...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4x4
The Derale transmission cooler part # D13403 that you referenced is a stacked plate cooler (the most efficient style) that would do a great job keeping the transmission fluid of your 2004 Chevy Silverado cooler. You'd want to route the fluid from the factory cooler, to the Derale cooler, and then back to the truck's transmission to get the optimum cooling power.

  • Measuring Temperature of Transmission Fluid After Installing Aftermarket Cooler on 2011 Silverado
I spoke with my contact at Derale about the lack of change in temperature you noticed on your 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. He confirmed that the factory transmission temperature sensor is located inside the transmission, where the fluid is the hottest. He said the effects of the aftermarket transmission cooler are not typically seen with the factory sensor, since the fluid quickly heats back up once inside the transmission. My contact at Derale also said that it is common to not notice a temperature...

The best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to measure the area in front of the radiator and pick out the largest cooler that will fit in that area. To maximize the space you have the best style of cooler to pick out would be a stacked plate cooler. These coolers are highly efficient and do not take up much space. This is a 13" wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep cooler that would do an excellent job keeping your fluid temperature down. Bubbles don't just appear out of nowhere in transmission fluid so this cooler...

  • Comparing Derale Transmission Cooler to Mishimoto
Hi Mark; we don't carry Mishimoto so I don't know a lot about them. I did a little research it looks like some people love them and say they are high quality while others have the opposite opinion. I didn't really see a lot of consistency saying they are the best or worst. Based on that I'm willing to bet that the performance of the Derale # D13403 is about the same as the Mishimoto equivalent so I would save myself the money and get the Derale.
