Cartridge-Style Heater
This cartridge-style heater simply clips into the cavity of your engine block. There is no need to remove the core frost plug. 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 install. Have to remove air intake, very tight to get it in just enough space. Had to trim a little bit to make it fit but nothing ever fits perfect. Picture say it all.

2016 Hyundai Elantra
I live in northern Ontario, Canada. Average temp is -20 but has gone as low as -30/-35. This heater was installed in a 2016 Hyundai Elantra GLS 2.0 engine. Installation was easy once the battery box was removed. Slipped in the cavity real nice. The heater was plugged in for 4 hours at -20c. I then tested the engine for warmth. To my surprise the engine block was warm to the touch and the snow had a small circle on the hood where it started to melt. This surpassed my expectation, and I highly recommend this heater. Uses 350 watts per hr. That's less than a frost plug heater at 550 watts per hr. Shipping, packaging and instructions all great.

This heater is by far the best thing since sliced bread. This little heater will keep the engine warm to the touch at any temp outside. Still working great after one year.

Ford Flex
The heater worked good, finding out where to install it was difficult. It did not go where the manufacturer stated even after calling for help. Found the location using a flex line camera. Had to remove parts from the engine to install. Car started in 20 below weather several times, used a timer to turn on when needed.

Jonathon at eTrailers help me verify this product would work in a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD 2.0T. Installation was done by a 3rd party for about $100. We've had days of -20 to -30 C weather a few times now this winter. Works as it should.

Does your company do any type of quality control before you send these out? I was wondering what everyone was talking about in the reviews when they said they had to file these down to get it to fit. Indeed I did have to significantly grind/file the circumference of the plug to get it to fit. Now I’m not confident that it’ll stay in the block because I had to modify it so much; something that should have been made right from the factory, who does this for a living. (3rd Gen Tacoma)

2014 Dodge Ram 5.7L uses Kat’s 11816 cartridge heater. Perfect fit. Must remove the two starter bolts and slide it out of the way. Don’t disconnect starter wires. Just slide starter out of the way. Easily done with truck on ramps. Clean out hole. Find a correct size retaining screw. Not sure what size or If hole is threaded. Too much rust. Just be able to jam some screw in there to retain the cartridge, until silicone dries. Smear about an inch wide layer of high temp silicone around the base of the cartridge. Insert cartridge, twist back and forth to spread silicone, and hold in place with retaining screw. Route wire straight forward. I used 1 1/8” spade bit to drill a hole in black plastic in bumper, but my bumper was already messed up, so I didn’t care much. Plug hangs out grill about 3”. Use zip ties to secure cord to square tubing frame post inside bumper.

Installed this on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Haven’t really tested it out yet as I installed it before it got seriously cold. Installation was easy. Just follow etrailers super helpful video. I did have to file a slight flat on the heater to clear the bell housing overhang. Not a manufacturer issue on the heaters part. Just normal variance on Toyota’s end.

Unfortunately the car got wrote off last winter so I cant comment on that one but I have had a Kats heater in my other Camry that I installed 8 years ago and it is still working just fine for our Manitoba winters.

The install was pretty straight forward except you have to grind one side of the element at the base flat in order for it to plug in, this is not in the directions. At the base where it bulges out, it gets in the way. Also the cord could be another 2 feet longer, when you route it away from hot exhaust and moving parts it uses a lot of cord. It helps tremendously in -35C, aside from those two points im happy.
