Video Transcript for TruRyde Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - TREQ310 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part #TREQ310. This is TruRyde's triangular shaped equalizer for 1-3/4" double-eye springs. This system right here is going to be used primarily in RV and mobile home industry, so it's going to be designed for those applications primarily. This is designed to connect double-eye springs on dual- or triple-axle trailers. The springs attach to the ends of the equalizer with shackle straps. Those are going to be sold separately, and then the equalizer is going to use this portion here, and it's going to be suspended from a center hanger, which is also going to be sold separately. This system transfers load in sudden impacts from one axle to another by permitting movement between the axles. It's going to help when it comes to distributing the weight evenly, and it's going to result in a smoother ride for the trailer. This is designed to fit 1-3/4" wide double-eye leaf springs with 9/16" spring eyes.

All the holes on here already have the bushings installed, so those are going to come with it. All the holes, so the top one right here, the center, and the two outer holes, are all going to offer a diameter of 9/16s of an inch. If we take a measurement from the center of this hole to the center of this hole, we're going to get a measurement of 6-1/16", and then when we measure the height of the equalizer, we're measuring from the center of this hole, straight down to the center of these two holes, so if we we're to create an imaginary line going across here, center on center, we take the measurement from the center of this hole down to that line, and that would give us a measurement of 4". That's going to do it for today's review of part #TREQ310. This is TruRyde's Triangular Equalizer for 1-3/4" double-eye springs. .

I ordered springs, bushings , shackles, equalizer, and bolts from e-trailer for my rv tandem axle Chris helped me insure I had the correct parts and the correct quantity of parts. I put one on and everything went fine. The only problem was the galvanized coating on the shackles made the hole to small and had to be drilled. ETrailer has great videos to show you how it is done. The phone sales staff was knowledgeable and effective, and shipment was quick, and all parts were there. 307189

I have a 2001 travel trailer and I had a spring break on the front axle, thank God I was only a quarter mile from home. I went on the E trailer site easily found the springs I needed, the Triangular equalizer, and the bolts I needed. My order arrived 3 days later, I was very pleased with the quality of all my parts. Some reviews complain about the parts made in china, well lets be honest what is made in the USA any more. Every thing fit as expected and my project is done. Would definitely recommend E trailer to anyone who wants a good product at a fair price . Thanx E trailer!! 236152

Ask the Experts about this TruRyde Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

  • Trailer Suspension Kit and 6 Inch Long Equalizers for Tandem Axles and Double Eye Springs
Suspension kit # APT4 for tandem axles with double eye springs has 6-1/4 inch long equalizers so it is a possible option for you. Kit # AP233-H248 uses 5-3/4 inch long equalizers. But if you have to have equalizer # TREQ310 then the individual parts will have to be pieced together since there isn't a kit with that equalizer. If you go that route then you would also need: 8 of # 18-11GALV 14 of # 166081 1 of # H248 (or other hangers, see link)

  • Using Taller Equalizer to Lift Trailer After Changing to Lower Mounting Holes on Hangers
As you mentioned in your question, we typically recommend replacing existing hangers with taller ones to ensure you get the trailer lift you are wanting. But with that being said, in your particular application, that is what you will essentially be doing since you already adjusted the front and rear hangers to the lower mounting hole. Because of this, replacing the 2 inch tall Equalizer # TREQ104 with the 4 inch tall Equalizer # TREQ310 that you referenced will indeed lift your trailer...

  • How to Prevent Leaf Springs from Hitting Trailer Frame on a Gooseneck Trailer
It sounds like the eye of the leaf spring is coming in contact with the bottom of the trailer frame. If this is the case then your only three options to fix this would entail either replacing the equalizers, shackle straps, or leaf spring hangers. The equalizers and leaf spring hangers would need to be taller and the shackle straps would need to be shorter in order to gain the clearance you are looking for. The leaf spring hangers will require you to cut off the old and weld the new on...

  • Availability of Product to Provide Suspension Lift for Keystone Fifth Wheel Trailer
We do indeed have some kits that will raise the axles a bit, but we would need to know the manufacturer of the axle (look for a tag or sticker affixed to the axle tube) and whether the trailer has a torsion or a leaf spring suspension. Since you're using the road armor system, you'll have a leaf spring suspension. The best bet would be the Lippert Tandem axle lift kit, # LC407131. The kit would lift your trailer by 2 inches. If your leaf springs sit under the axle, and your axle is...

  • Correct Installation of Suspension Equalizer on Boat Trailer
A tandem axle trailer suspension's equalizers like # TREQE1 should install with the single center hole at the top, where it attaches to the center hanger. This can be seen in the linked diagram taken from our article on double-eye trailer suspensions. This diagram also shows how the shackles should be positioned. Neither the shackle straps nor the spring eyes should be contacting the trailer frame. If you can send us a photo or two showing your suspension we may be better able to diagnose...

  • Increasing Distance Between Trailer Axle and Trailer Frame
The ideal solution to get more distance between your axle and the trailer frame is to use an over/under conversion kit. This will allow you to move the axle below the leaf springs giving you the additional height you are looking for. There are 2 over under conversion kits (1 kit needed per axle): # K71-384-00 is used for 2-3/8 inch diameter round axles # K71-385-00 is used for 3 inch diameter round axles If your axle is a different size then the solution is to replace all the...

  • Raising Height of 5th Wheel Suspension to Provide Proper Clearance Between Bed Sides and Trailer
There are a few things you can try to get the proper 6 inch clearance between the top of the bed sides and the bottom of the fifth wheel trailer loft. One or more of these suggestions might be required to achieve the proper clearance. If your truck is lifted or has larger than stock wheels/tires, returning the truck to stock ride height will solve the problem in most cases. Adjusting the fifth wheel hitch so that it is at its highest level and moving the pin box so that it is at its...

  • Increasing 5th Wheel Ride Height by Installing Taller Equalizer
Changing your equalizer height by two inches will gain you a slight height increase, but because all the pieces of the suspension (springs and shackles) all move together, you will not get the full 2 inch height increase. The equalizer will be a bit taller, but most of the height difference will be taken up by the springs and shackles, because the height is not being changed at either end where the springs connect to the spring hangers. Your best bet would be to choose taller spring...

  • Could Trailer Suspension Be Lowered by Lowering Height of Equalizer
Yes, if you lowered the height of your trailer's equalizer the height of the trailer would change. That said this is not the best solution as the outside hangers on the trailer suspension are at a height is designed to allow the leaf spring to sit level. If you change the equalizer height drastically without changing the hanger heights too you'll end up with springs that won't sit level. A better option would be to cut the hangers off and go with ones shorter than what you have so that...

  • Why Do Trailer Suspension Equalizers Come in Different Shapes and Sizes
Equalizers for trailer suspension have different shapes, lengths, and heights to accommodate different axle spacing, spring lengths, and deck heights. Going to an equalizer that is not the same length and height as the original will require replacing other parts as well including but not limited to the spring hangers and springs themselves. The previous owner of your trailer probably wanted the trailer lower but he didn't do it correctly. With the bow in the axle facing done it reduces...

I can't confirm that an over/under kit would work for you because of the unique hangers on the trailer. Though it does look like it was designed to be adjustable. This would appear to be a great option for you provided all the hanger locations have additional mounting holes like in your picture. You may also need some addition...

  • Can a 4 Inch Tall Equalizer be Used in Place of a 2 Inch to Get More Height On a Trailer
You could use a taller equalizer but you would also need to use taller front and rear hangers as well. Everything will have to be raised equally so if you go up 2 inches in one spot you have to go up 2 inches in all spots. If you do not raise it at all the hangers as well the trailer will ride awkwardly and lead to poor tracking, uneven tire wear and could reduce the capacity of the trailer. When raising the height of a trailer you also raise its center of gravity. This makes the trailer...

You want to raise the rear of the trailer so the underside of the loft won't hit the bed sides at the rear of the truck, is that correct? If the leaf springs for your camper are UNDER the axle, and your axle is 2-3/8 or 3 inches in diameter, you can use an Over-Under kit, like # K71-384-00 for a 2-3/8 axle or # K71-385-00 for a 3...
