Can Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit Replace Dexter 13-10 Equalizer

Updated 05/05/2025 | Published 03/01/2019

Question:

I have a 2015 Sandpiper 5th wheel with 13-10 Dexter Equalizer with 35 inch axle spacing. Can I use the K71-653-00 kit instead of the K71-652-00 kit. Im hoping to gain some height as well.

Expert Reply:

Your 13-10 equalizers, which should be equivalent to Equalizer # TREQ310 measures 6-1/16 inches from bolt hole to bolt hole (see accompanying photo) and due to that you will need to use the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System # K71-652-00.

Your equalizers are not long enough to use the other kit you referenced; the replacements you select do need to measure up from bolt hole to bolt hole. I have added a link to a video review and video install for you to check out as well.

Hello Kyle- I have the same issues above. I have the issue above. I want to purchase the Dexter EZ Flex but I am concerned about pulling the trigger for 2 reasons everyone I talk to gives me a different answer. On you please confirm It’s for a 5th wheel. And I don’t want to have torn apart in my driveway and find out it’s the wrong one 1- my wheel spacing is 35” but my existing Equalizer is a Dexter 13-10. And on the Dexter sight it says to go by the wheel spacing. Please confirm 2- I cannot afford to have the EZ Flex installation lower my 5th wheel due to I only have 6” now between the top bed of my truck and under side trailer and that is the bare minimum. I have no issue raising just not lowering. Please confirm 3- FYI - while I do this work I am going to change out my Leaf Springs they currently are Dexter 072-055-01 5 leaf 3500 each let me know what you have to match. Thank you in advance Dan

@Dan Thanks for the information! We always say to go off of the measurements of your equalizer not the wheelbase for the exact issue you've ran into. To replace your 13-10 equalizers, I recommend the MORryde ALLTREK 4000 Shock Absorbing Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR89DR. It measures 6-1/2" and the height from the shackle bolt hole to the hanger bolt hole is slightly taller at 4-1/2". This will not lower your ride height whatsoever. I wasn't able to get any sizing information off of the 072-055-01 part number you gave me. If you could get the weight off of one side of your trailer and measure the leaf springs from eye hole to eye hole I can find you the correct replacements that way. Since you'll have everything ripped apart and you can only torque down the wet bolts once. You'll want to replace yours with with either the 2-1/4" item # MR46ZR or 3-1/8" item # MR76ZR shackle kits depending on the length from center hole to center hole on your shackle links.
