Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out. For the ball mount, we do want to be sure the ball size and receiver size are correct, but we also want to make sure the about of drop is appropriate for your trailer. This way the trailer will be level when you tow.
The trailer hitch on a 2023 Buick Encore will be about 12" from the ground. The # C45582 ball mount has 3-1/4" of drop so this will put your pall height around 8-3/4" which is honestly pretty low. Most trailers have a coupler height of like 15" or 16", so with the ball at 8-3/4" the trailer would be way out of level.
I do see that you recently bought the Malone XtraLight Trailer # MPG526G-S from us. This trailer has a coupler height of 15-1/2". If you want the trailer to be level, I recommend using a ball mount with about 3" of rise. For this, the etrailer Ball Mount # e47DR is what I recommend. This will fit the 1-1/4" hitch, it has a 2" ball and it has 3-7/8" of rise which will allow your trailer to be almost perfectly level.

Thanks for your reply. I measured from the top of the receiver on my Encore to the floor - 16 and 3/4 quarter inches. The literature on my trailer states tongue height is 14 inches. So don't I need a mount with a drop?
