Very handy for getting a level hookup with aftermarket hitch kits, which often put the receiver far too low. The 5-1/2" rise is just right to pull U-Haul and Home Depot trailers behind my Audi A6 sedan, and the extended tongue clears the bumper with room to spare. This unit is extremely ruggedly built, with nice fat welds and a sturdy reinforcing gusset, and the anti-rattle feature works perfectly.

Good quality

Other than getting most of the paint knocked off of this while in shipping from a loose ball inside the shipping box, it's a very impressive drawbar. The solid square bar that goes inside the receiver makes this much better than any 2" drawbar I've ever had. This thing is seriously heavy! I might not even keep this in the car until it's needed. With the ball, it weighs about as much as my small toolbag

I would cover any nicks with anti-corrosive spray paint to make sure it lasts a long while without rust. Here is a help article explaining more:

by:

Haven’t installed it yet but the welds appear super thick and the unit is HEAVY. I’m impressed so far.

by:

The hitch looks good. It is what I ordered. Two Days! I have to say that I will definitely be recommending etrailer if it comes up.

by:

Good solid hitch great shipping

Received the Class II Drawbar 5-1/2" Rise or 6" Drop - BM96
in a timely manner. The rise was what I was looking for to use with my Polaris ATV 570 since its standard receiver is 1-1\4 hitch and sits low to the ground. This was just the right height to pull my john boat behind the ATV.

by:

I just purchased a new hideaway hitch system. But the hitch sits only 15 inches off the ground at best. And, my trailer coupling is 22-23 inches off ground. So l needed 7-8 inches of rise on the new 1.25 inch receiver system.

Internet research took me to etrailer and the Brophy hitch. I got 5.5 inches with the Brophy hitch, the highest available for a 1.25 inch receiver I could find. The others are limited to 5 inches max. I added another 1.5 inches with your Curt shock absorbing hitch. Voila, with a combined 7 inches of rise and on level ground the trailer now rides perfectly level!!!! Both parts were very easy to connect.

Delivery was speedy. Thank you for saving the day and my investment in an expensive new hideaway hitch!

by:

Really nice. Great quality welds, unlike so many cheapo products. Well designed for the stress of the 5.5" rise.

by:

Quality parts, but the extra rise with this and the Curt Rocker Ball still wasn’t enough to avoid scraping the top of my inclined road while towing my boat.

by:

Purchased a vehicle with a class 2 factory hitch installed. This was the proper drop to haul my band trailer. First trip went without an issue.

by:

I bought this product to replace one that didn't have enough rise. On small cars such as a Nissan Versa, the hitch assembly is lower to the ground which can cause your trailer to ride low in front and high in the back. Adding weight toward the tongue only compounds the problem. I had a 4 inch rise which was not sufficient. BM96 gives me an extra 1 1/2" of height. I haul a 26hp 54" cut Husqvarna on a 5' X 10' tilt back trailer from "Old Reliable" One other point to mention. If your trailer rides low in the front and is fitted with a tongue jack, it can be difficult to lower it because the jack wheel can hit the ground in such a way that the jack can't be extended without lifting the tongue. BM96 gives the the extra height I need and solved my problem. This item fit perfectly and required no modification. I would highly recommend this if you need extra height!!

by:

The draw bar is absolutely perfect! all other internet and local hitch installer contacts said no one makes a 1 1/4" draw bar with a 6" drop. first picture is my original draw bar with a 2.5" drop. the trailer was running quite high. number 2,3,4 are with your Brophy draw bar you can really see the trailer is level.I took a measurement that may come in handy in your files. my car is a 2012 ford escape with a factory trailer package . The measurement from the center of my receiver to the ground is 18"1/4" trailer tires are 5.30x12 This is my new car and I was surprised at the height. the Ford dealer was no help so possibly you can supply other 4 wheel drive escapes with draw bars.

by:

Expected my hitch to arrive in about 2 weeks. I got an email from etrailer saying they will upgrade shipping for free and received it in 2 days! Hitch is excactly what i am looking for. The paint was a little spotty on the hitch, but i could care less. It is a good solid hitch. I will turn to etrailer.com for all my towing needs.

by:

I love the ball-mount. Now I can haul my boat out to the lake. The best part of everything is - I got my package days earlier then expected. The service I received was great. Overall I am very happy with my purchase

by:

etrailer is the only place I could find a 6" drop hitch for 1 1/4" receiver on my Polaris 570. I purchased a trailer on cl and needed a way to pull it evenly behind my four wheeler. I still had to mount the coupler on top of the tongue but that's no big deal. Service was great with immediate feedback once my order was placed and the delivery was fast. I would definitely do business with George again!

by:

Bought this for my VW Jetta so I could haul my Kendon Dual motorcycle trailer because no hitch gave me enough rise. After installing a 2", 3/4 shank, 2 9/16 shank length ball secured and spaced with 6, 3/4 lock washers, I put it to the test. Loaded my Ferris 48" ZTR and away I went on the test run. Really impressed actually how little play there is in the 1 1/4 hitch. It's quite heavy solid no question.

by:

Extremely high quality hitch. I use the 6 inch drop option and tow a 6x12 enclosed trailer. Etrailer was very fast with shipping and I will definitely shop here again. I wish the shipping company took more care.

by:

Excellent service, very professional, parts were exactly as described.

by:

Product is great. Though we didn't have a lift to put on the trailer hitch, but after watching your video and few times it took maybe 2 hours and the next day maybe a half hour to add the wiring.

by:

Wasn't sure if this is going to work on our 2009 Toyota sienna, but it's just right. The 5 1/2 inch height was perfect for a double axle ATV trailer. Item is quality made and etrailer shipped fast!

  • Recommended 1-1/4 Inch Draw-Bar w/ a 6 Inch Rise
There is only one drawbar for a 1-1/4" hitch receiver that has a 6" rise. It is the Curt Class II Euro Style Drawbar item # C45591. This is a European style ball mount where the hitch ball is attached. It will give you 6-5/8" of rise. This is only recommended to be used on class II 1-1/4" receivers. If your hitch is a class one then the most rise you can get is 5-1/2" with the Brophy Anti-Rattle Drawbar item # BR39FR. For hitch balls you will want item # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or item...

  • Could Brophy Ball Mount # BR39FR be Used in Class I Trailer Hitch
The Brophy Drawbar part # BR39FR could be used in a Class I hitch but typically Class I hitches require a specific ball mount be used so I'd check with the manufacturer of your trailer hitch.

  • Solution for 1-1/4" Ball Mount With 7" Rise for 2016 Honda CRV-EX Towing U-Haul Trailer
The 1-1/4" receiver does limit you but I have a solution to achieve a 7" rise for a ball mount. You do not want to use an extension since it will cut your capacity in half which means you wouldn't be able to tow that trailer. What you need is the Brophy Anti-Rattle Drawbar # BR39FR. This only has a 5-1/2" rise, but you can combine it with the Curt RockerBall # C94CR. The ball sits 1-1/2" taller than your standard hitch ball with the shock absorbing base. It also uses a 2" ball which is...

  • Anti-rattle Device for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Recessed Inside of Bumper
You could use Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 upside down but I don't think it is going to fit based on your pictures. Something smaller like Item # F-315 that goes into the shank of the accessory you are inserting into the hitch will likely fit better but will not worth with accessories that have a solid shank. If you need a draw bar with an anti-rattle solution check out Brophy's Anti-Rattle Drawbar, 1-1/4" Hitch, 5-1/2" Rise / 6" Drop, 7-1/4" L, 3.5K Item # BR39FR

  • 1-1/4" Ball Mount Capable of 7" of Total Rise With 2" Ball
I have a solution for you to be able to get to 7" of total rise. The Brophy Anti-Rattle Drawbar # BR39FR is a 1-1/4" ball mount that will give you 5-1/2" inches of rise. That is the largest rise that I have been able to find. You can couple that with the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C94CR. It will fit the 3/4" hole in the Brophy ball mount. The ball does sit 1-1/2" taller than a traditional hitch ball thanks to the shock absorbing mechanism. This will also give you...

  • Is a 1-1/4 Inch Ball Mount Available With a 6 Inch Rise
The 1-1/4 inch ball mount with the largest rise we offer is part # BR39FR from CR Brophy which offers a 5-1/2 inch rise. The rise of the ball mount doesn't need to be exactly equal to the height difference between the receiver and the trailer coupler height. As long as you can get within 1-2 inches, that'll be plenty close enough. If you click the provided link, you can see a product description video for the ball mount I recommended.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 2017 Volkswagen Golf with 4 inch Rise
Based on the dimensions you listed the correct amount of rise you need from a ball mount is 6 inches. Since the EcoHitch part # 306-X7310 is a 1-1/4 inch hitch you'd want the ball mount # BR39FR and you'd be set. For a hitch ball you'd want part # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

  • Compatibility of Tall Trailer Coupler Height With 1-1/4 Inch Receiver
For a 10 inch rise on a 1-1/4 receiver, you would need to use an adapter like you stated. This will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch receiver by 50% because you are using an adapter which puts more leverage on the hitch receiver. I recommend using the shortest length possible for this like the # HTAD and the BulletProof Hitches Adjustable 2-Ball Mount for 2" Hitch # HD2010. This combination may make it so your trailer won't be compatible with its tongue weight, which would...

  • Lowest Ball Mount Drop Available for a 1-1/4" Hitch Receiver
The closest we can get you to that setup is with the following: - Brophy Anti-Rattle Drawbar # BR39FR (6" drop) - 2" Hitch Ball # 19258 You'll have a really hard time finding an 8" drop for a shank that fits a 1-1/4" hitch receiver simply because that hitch receiver size is weaker than a 2" or 2-1/2" receiver so you don't want there to be the possibility for that much torque. As long as you have your ball mount within 1" of your towing setup being level you'll be good to go, but I'm...
