4. Repeat this process on the front side of the tire.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large, aftermarket tires - may require Class S chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains Review - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we'll be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number TC2028. Now keep in mind that this is being used with tire size 255-70-R17.These cable style chains are going to provide a good traction in light snow, and the low profile design is going to provide an overall smooth ride. The ladder pattern of our chains is going to assist with effective starts and stops, and these are made out of a low carbon steel rollers, which will be strong, durable, and rust resistant. The Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains also come with a reusable bag, which is great for storage when not in use. They're going to have a 30 mile per hour maximum speed rating, and come in a quantity of two, and also be quick and easy to install. We'll show you how to do that now.I've gone ahead and laid out our chains just to make sure there aren't any kinks or breaks in the lines. There's a yellow flag on one side, we're just gonna make sure that that's facing away from our tire when we place it onto our vehicle.

We'll take our chain, and we're gently going to drape it over our tire, making sure that it sits evenly from front to back, and side to side.Once we have it sitting evenly, we can go around to the back side first and secure that. We'll take our notches and place them into our eyelet on the other side. Tighten it down until we have a nice, secure fit. Then we can use the red keepers to secure up this excess. Here on the front we'll do the same thing, securing our notches to our eyelet. Once we have that tight we can take our cam towards the other side and secure it to our cable.

We're ready to drive forward a couple feet, get out and double check the tension, and make any adjustments. The manufacturer also recommends the use of a rubber tensioner, we'll use part number TCMA2. We're going to take our rubber adjuster and we'll just secure it around our tire. This is going to take up any slack that we have in our tire chain, and give us a nice, secure fit.And that's gonna be our completed look at the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number TC2028, on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Arrived ahead of schedule. allowed me to drive on pavement that I could not even walk on. Drawback is it allows side-side sway while driving. But, HEY at least your moving somewhere. 463890

I love my cable chains from Etrailer! Iiked my 1st set so much that I bought a second set as well. I love the ease of putting cable chains on as opposed to putting on regular heavy duty chains. They're made of great quality and you won't be disappointed. Also... They were a great price and free shipping as well. Hard to beat these days. 325776

2014 Dodge Ram Pickup

Very satisfied. I ordered these on a Sunday and received them 5 days later on Friday, which was just in time for my snow trip on Saturday. Very easy to use and installation is fast. I used them on my 2014 Ram 1500 SLT, 2WD, tire size is P265/70R17 M+S (which stands for Mud and Snow Tires) My truck requires the class "S" chains, which these are clearly labeled as such. 235720

2015 Dodge Durango

Just received my chains yesterday. I have to say, first of, customer service is EXCELLENT! I had questions on which chains were best for my SUV and I was promptly responded with suggestions and links to videos. I went with these tire cables for my 2015 Dodge Durango SXT Plus. There was question about clearance issues with brake lines on the Durango and these seem to be very low profile and made for lower clearance. The price was right too. I did a dry install today and it was a breeze. Took way longer to fold these back up and put back into the storage bag! Lol! (That's not these chains fault, it's user error...) I took some pictures but note it was my first time installing tire cables so I'm going to have to center them a bit more. I purchased the Titan chain multi arm rubber chain adjusters and they did make a difference on how snug the cables fit, so I would recommend them. We only plan on using them on very rare occasions when we venture up the mountain, so in sure if you live where it snows all the time, you will probably look at higher prices chains, but I think these are perfect for the occasional use. I will update after our Big Bear trip if we use them to reflect actual use. Thank you etrailer, they also upgraded my shipping to get here a couple days earlier just because... that was amazing! 342267

2002 Toyota Tacoma

I purchased a set of Titan cable snow chains for my 2002 Toyota Tacoma. I rarely use chains but when I have to it's usually just for getting to work and around town so I prefer thin cable chains over regular link chains. These are perfect! Easy to get on and off and I love the tension clamp. It's definitely a step up from my old cable chains. The price was excellent as well. The cheapest I found anywhere. I definitely recommend them. Thanks ETrailer! 168086

Great service again from a very reputable company. Tire chains arrived one day earily and in great shape. The video for installing 20" chains is excellent even for someone who has installed many. No pictures yet...hope I don't need to use them for a while! 628590

The chains actually arrived a day earlier than projected. The cable chains (2028) look great and very durable. I put them on my 2014 Toureg with 20 Inch wheels with some effort and they fit perfectly. I am ready to try them out next winter if needed. The only disappointment is that they arrived in a very nice carrying bag. But after taking them out and trying them on for fit, it was impossible to get them back into the original bag that they arrived in. I ended up using a bit larger tool bag to store them. 616351

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 245/70-17 Tires on 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4
I checked the owner's manual, and found that for your P245/70R-17 tires, Jeep recommends using low profile chains like the Konig Tire Chains, part # TH02230K77. A low profile chain is called for because of the limited clearance between the inside of the tire and the suspension and braking components. Jeep makes no mention of warranty stipulations. Jeep recommends that you use chains on the rear wheels only, and recommends you limit your speed to a maximum of 30 mph. I'll link you to...

  • Snow Tire Chains That Fit 245/70-17 Tires and 245/65-17 Tires
There are some snow tire chains that fit both 245/70-17 tires and 245/65-17 tires; it will depend on the manufacturer and model. We currently only have cable snow tire chains that fit both size tires and I recommend the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC3010 because they are Class-S compatible to fit wheel wells with limited clearance and have a ladder pattern which is best for starting and stopping. I have added a link to a video review of these cables for you to take a look...

  • Will Snow Tire Chains that fit 265/70R16 Tires Also Fit 265/70R17 Tires?
Not every snow tire chain that fits a 265/70R16 tire will fit a 265/70R17 tire because the fit will depend on the design and clearances, but many will be compatible. For instance the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Steel Rollers - 1 Pair # TC2028 will be compatible with both sizes. I've linked the page to both fit options so you can compare fits. If you have a specific chain that isn't on the list but is from one of our manufacturers, I'd be happy to do some research...

  • Will the Titan Tire Cables TC2028 Fit Tire Size 275/65-18
The Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC2028 that you referenced have been confirmed as a fit for the tire size 275/65-18 that you have on your 2003 Lincoln Navigator. So as long as the owners manual of your vehicle doesn't have any restrictions on using cables these would fit and work well. I attached a install video for you to check out as well. You will need to check the owners manual to determine if there are any tire chain restrictions.

Unfortunately those two size tires will require different snow chains. I've looked up some chains like # TC2028 that will fit 245/85-16 tires and 275/65R16 tires, but the 245/75-16 are not a confirmed fit for chains that also fit 265/75R16 tires. The diameter, width, and sidewall height are simply too different. If you click on chains that fit your tire size and scroll to the bottom of that product you will see the other tire size fits for those chains.

  • Are the Rubber Adjusters # PW99 Needed for 265/70R17 Tires on a 2003 Ford Expedition
I do recommend using the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, # PW99, with the Glacier Tire Chains, # PWH2828SC, with size 265/70R17 tires. We tested these tire chains on that tire size and determined the cam tighteners did not provide enough tension by themselves. I found an owners manual for your 2003 Ford Expedition and it says Ford only recommends using cable style chains or Ford accessory tire chains on your Expedition. For cable style snow chains, I recommend going with the Titan Cable Chains,...

  • Tire Chains for Size 265/75R16 Tires on 2011 Nissan Frontier Pro4X 4WD
Some vehicles can use tire chains only on certain specific tire sizes; others can use them only on one or the other axle. The online owner's manual for the 2011 Nissan Frontier indicates on page 8-39 that you can use our low-profile S-Class type chains on the REAR wheels only so long as you are using one of the stock tire sizes that are offered from the factory. Your 265/75R16 tires are one of the stock sizes. We have two options in S-Class chains to fit your rear tires. Both are cable...

  • Will Tire Chains for 265/70-16 Tires Fit 265/65-16 Tires on a 2016 Nissan Frontier SV
The side chain on the cables for the 265/70-16 tires is shorter than the ones for the 265/65-16 tires be nearly 11 inches. Because of this I cannot recommend using the same cables on either size. For your 265/65-16 tires you can use cables # TC2028. This is a basic set that won't break the bank. I do recommend adding rubber adjusters # TCMA2 though to help keep the cables tight and centered,

  • Will One Set of Tire Chains Fit Both LT225/75R16 And LT265/70R17 Tires
I compared all of the chains for tire sizes 225/75-16 and 265/70-17. There are no chains that fit both sizes so you would need to get separate chains, such as cable style chains, like you want for both vehicles. For the 225/75-16 tires you can use # TC1042 with rubber adjusters # TCOA1. And for the 265/70-17 tires use # TC2028 with rubber adjusters # TCMA2. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manuals for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have also included a link...
