Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Company review (have not tried the snow chains yet) I have booked a vacation in the White Mountains of NH and I was concerned about getting my van to the house I rented at the top of a mountain. I took a drive up with my 3500 HD pickup and it wasn’t a simple ascent. My kids use a van for skiing due to needing a changing room for skiing with Covid rules. Even with studded snow tires I felt we should have chains just in case. With 2 days prior to leaving I paid for 2 days shipping. They went from MO to NH in less than 16 hrs from the time I placed the order! Very thankful to have these so quickly and hopefully we won’t need them! No Covid disclaimers, no BS, just super quick shipping and delivery!!

This is based on a driveway install. Pretty easy but slightly more complicated than standard cable chains. The box they come in is much larger (hence the once point off) No real complaints but on my pacifica 2020 with 18" wheels I can't use the second loop or even get the rubber hook across the wheel to the other side. They seem secure and I'll update if I ever get in a condition to use them, these are more like keeping bandaids in the car, you might never need them but if you do there they are. No complaints about the shipping and etrailer has been great to deal with (been buying from them for awhile).

Fairly easy to install once you know how. Printed instructions are provided but watch the installation videos here at etrailer. Can’t speak to the durability but they appear to be well-made. I installed one chain on one wheel to ensure they fit and to familiarize myself with installing them. The cases that the chains come in are nice. I bought two pair for my AWD Sorento. My utilization plan for these chains is to avoid situations which would require their use but I’m reassured knowing that I have them if I need them. And in some states/areas you’re required by law to carry them in your vehicle during winter.

Ordered these chains for my Class C rv. We were driving to Colorado for Thanksgiving. An early snow storm stranded us at a Flying J . We woke up to 12 inches of snow. I put on the chains and was able to get to to the west side of Denver. They were vey easy to put on the tires. Made driving safe!

I used these once to get out of some soft ground/mud. Easy to install without having to jack up the van or drive over them. You just wrap them around the back of the wheel and click the fasteners. It couldn't be simpler.

Comments
I bought these for the rare occasion I get stuck in mud. I have used them twice in the year I have had them. Easy to install, even in the mud. Work great. Easy to hose off. The bag keeps them nicely for when needed. I should have laminated the instructions.

Fairly easy to put on... Used in the mountainous region of Tehachapi California in Feb. 2016 (they do not use salt or ash on roads when it snows) and did not have any issues getting around with my front wheel drive Kia Sorento.

The titan Chain Diamond Lt Alloy Chain-sq Link work great on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. It’s been a year since I bought them, and I knew they fit because I practiced at home, but last weekend I used them in the snow for real. Easy to install, not too much vibration while driving, and easy to take off. Bonus: they fit easily back into the case! Never had a set of chains that easy to put away.

Useless, it broke the minute I started driving. I had to drive a dangerous pass in Colorado and had no protection. It was really dangerous. I took it to a garage out there who told me it was a useless piece of crap and I threw it out. Had to buy a good chain.

I will respond to the review because I like what I bought. However, I have not yet had to use the product. I live in southern California and am a snow skier. I have season passes for Mammoth Mountain and only went up for one week last year. My car has snow tires and 4 wheel drive. The snows condition was not bad enough last year that I was required to use the chains. The state law requires that I carry snow chains for all four wheels. I have seen many times that I would need to put on the chains. Just not so far with these chains. I love the ease that they go on. I love the storage case and I like not having to have individual rubber stretchers for each tire.

Love these chains. I’ve been using diamond pattern chains for years. I have a set for both vehicles. These are super easy to install, smooth running, and give way more grip than cables. Be sure to buy the rubber “adjusters” to keep the chains tight to your tire. Ordering both pairs was painless and they arrived on time.

This is just my 2nd. order with etrailer - however, both of my experiences have been exceptional - imagine, in this age, calling an 800 # at 9:30 pm & getting a live person! - Bridgette was the epitome of exceptional customer service - she ordered my snow chains, answering all my questions, & shipped them in 3 days for $x bucks! AMAZING!

The tire chains arrived in record time , giving me enough time to try them on the tires before my trip to the snowy mountains. They fit perfectly and came in a convenient bag for storage. The customer service was most helpful in deciding the exact size and style for my SUV. The price was surprisingly affordable. Thank you Karen for all your patience and and concern for exceptional customer service. Eliz. Bell

Fit my tire(s) as advertised (that's 4 stars right there). Installed on tires not (yet) mounted on a vehicle. Makes it a bit easier to install, adjust, and tighten. Bought one set to be sure they'd fit, then bought a second for the front tires (4wd). Doing the same for an AWD vehicle as well. Waiting for the inevitable ice storm (or snow), so 4 stars until battle-tested.

Just received these, have not had a chance to use them in the snow. I have put them on the truck to see how easy/hard they would be to install. They are very easy to install. I bought these for a late season hunt in Colorado, better to have and not need, then to need and not have. e trailer is always easy to use and deliver products in a timely matter, have ordered from them on several occasions without an issue..

Haven't used them on snow. Purchased to go through mountains in Montana near Bozeman on way to go elk hunting. Only practiced attaching them in the driveway and that went well. This it the type of item that is nice to have, but if I never have to use them I will be happy also. Handy and easy to use. Be sure to get a pair of tighteners, they really make the chains secure.

  • Recommended Tire Chain Solution for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
According to your owner's manual, FCA states that any chains used with your tire size cannot protrude more than 9mm to the inside of the tire. Extending any further than that could cause damage. I have two alternatives that would meet that parameter. The first would be the Titan Snow Sock, part # TCH72. The stretchable fabric makes them easy to install and the fabric sticks pretty well to snow and ice providing friction. The fabric will not damage your vehicle. This being said though,...
