Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Alloy Snow Tire Chains Review

Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at Titan Chains Alloy Snow Tire Chains. One thing I do like about these tire chains compared to your ladder chains, we don't have any connection to make around back. A lot of the times underneath, we have the climb on the ground, go around back, and then connect it. This way it's just up top here so we don't have to get down in the snow. Because if you're putting snow tire chains on your tires, there's probably going to be snow on the ground.

You don't want to be rolling around in that.We do have some square links that are going to be made of manganese nickel alloy steel, so it's going to help resist rust and corrosion and just keep it from wearing down really quickly. It is SAE S Class certified, so it is going to give you a smooth ride and fit pretty well in your wheel well. It does have a diamond pattern, which is going to give you really good traction for stopping and acceleration. One thing I really do like about these tire chains is it does have a built in tensioner, which a lot of the times you're supposed to get these rubber tensioners that aren't attached to your chains, and I know I would probably lose them. Definitely it being completely attached to the chains is going to be a plus for me, just so you don't lose them. Also, this does have a speed rating of 30 miles an hour so we do suggest not going over that speed. It also comes with a pretty nice carrying case.

It's going to last a little bit longer than those canvas bags, those usually rip over time. This one, it's made of sturdier construction and has a zipper. You're going to keep your chains neat and organized in this case and you're not going to lose them. If you have an all wheel drive or four wheel drive application, all you really have to do is buy two sets. It does come in a pair of two and it's going to be the same exact installation process on both sides.

Let's just go ahead and get to it.The first thing we're going to want to do is lay out our chains and make sure there's no kinks in our links. If that's all looking good we can go ahead and fish this behind our tire. Once we have them back there we can put our hands in our wheel wells, grab both ends, and connect them. While we're back here, we're going to grab these chains and drape them over. We do want to make sure that this straight line here is going to be in the middle of our tire tread.

Once we have that set we can go ahead and take our green hook here to try to get it clipped on this yellow excess of chain.Once we get that and everything's nice and even, one thing I do want to note, you guys can see back in here, there's two different ends. We have the open section with these two pieces of metal. We want that facing away from our tire because we want to have that smooth part up against our rubber just so we don't damage our tires when in use.If all that checks out, you get this green hook connected, and then we can take our tensioning device which is actually built in, which is definitely a plus for me because I misplace stuff all the time, we're going to place it like so and give it a good tug and make sure it's nice and tight. Once we get that, we're going to go ahead and put them through these red loops. Once we do that, we'll come over here and connect them to the yellow part of our chain.Once we have all that set up, we want to make sure and see if it's tight, and if it is, we do recommend rolling over it a couple more times and then coming back out and make sure that tension stays as it is. If it is, we're ready to hit the road.Well everyone, thanks for tuning in and taking a look at our Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains.

The chains arrived quickly. It's great that they come with a carrying case too. They seem to be made very well. They were simple to install on my pickup. I haven't used them in the snow yet. I'll try to update this review after I use them. 166308

Just completed fit-check of these chains on my two vehicles (2016 Toyota Tundra, P255/70R18, Michelin LTX MS2; 2010 Toyota Sequoia, P275/55R20 111S M+S, Bridgestone Dueler H/L) and all is good! Hardest part of installation was untangling the chains to lay out on the ground (that always is, for me!). Practice makes it easier. Thank you etrailer! Rolling a few revolutions and re-tightening chains IS important. Don't leave that step out. I'm going to add rubber tensioners (old-school, I know) just to be sure. Pics are of the 2010 Sequoia and 2016 Tundra. 598550

2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

Bought these for my new 2018 Ram Tradesman after trying some SCC Z Chains which, even though they are rated S class, had inner brackets and cables that seemed far to close to the rubber brake line on this Ram (which is unfortunately very close to the tire). These Titan chains are very easy to install, and have a very clean profile on the inside (see pic), so I think these will be fine on this truck. They also come in a very nice, compact soft case, and are far easier to pack back up than other chains I've used. I've only tried them on my driveway, so can't comment on how they handle in the snow, but I suspect the diamond design should work very well. I did notice that moving the truck after installing, they did need to be snugged up by moving the one tensioner, but that's to be expected as they settle and center themselves on the tire. Very nice design with the stiff cable on the inside, and unique, easy to use tensioner system. 593401

Overall, a great product! I practiced throwing on the chains just once the day before my trip and was able install them in the snow in about 10 minutes with no major issues. Great traction. Only reason these chains are not getting 5 stars is one of the chain links that are preset in the bracket popped out when we went through a small 12" snow berm which caused the chain to fall off the tire. Easily fixed in less than 5 minutes with some pliers. Well worth the money and I would definately purchase these chains again. 335652

OMG...Talk about over delivering! A very well constructed item (in a hard shell carrying case- I was surprised to see that) this allows you not to worry about damaging the chains or rolling around your vehicle when not in use. *Such a little thing but HUGE at the same time* Etrailer made my decision very easy with not only competitive pricing in the market, but NUMEROUS options for all your needs and price ranges, along with actual video PROOF that these fit or work on your vehicle. I had 3 different tire stores tell me no to this purchase (when the owners manual CLEARLY states you can with the right size and brand) along with etrailer verifying this item with "how to" videos so you know exactly what you are getting with video proof. Definitely made me a satisfied customer and I will buying more from etrailer for other vehicles in the family. 592520

Received two sets of chains, one for Jeep Cherokee and other for my Silverado. Shipping and delivery was very fast. Tested the installation and fit. Easy installation and fit on Silverado even with oversized tires. One reason I purchased from eTrailer was their sites ability to let me select the tire size - since I have oversized tires on both vehicles. Other sites tried to fit to the standard tire sizes. Excellent service and value. 335832

This is our second time ordering online from etrailer. Both times were excellent experiences and their product quality is second to none. The snow chains we ordered arrived within a couple of days, traveling from MO to CA. These chains are very easy to install and remove and are come in their own cases. We ordered two sets (four chains) for our AWD Dodge Durango. I also have two sets for my Toyota Tacoma 4X4 that I ordered previously from etrailer. 583468

Chains were easy to equip. No need to drive on which is great if you're already slipping. After a few miles they would loosen up (no real way to tighten them since i was already pulling it across the tire). Advertised as low profile, but eventually loosened and damaged inner wheel well liner. Great for the price and only if driving a few miles 738218

For your 265/75-16 tire size we do offer a range of Class S chains that you can see on the link provided. These include the cost-effective...

  • Does Titan Chains TC2326 Fit Tire Size 265/70-17
Yes, the Titan Chains part # TC2326 that you referenced are the correct size for the tire size 265/70-17 that you mentioned so this would be a great solution. Be sure to check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if there are any tire chain restrictions you need to be aware of.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 265/50R20 Sized Tires on 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
According to an onilne copy of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee's owner's manual, tire chains should only be installed on the rear tires. It also states to not exceed 30 miles per hour and use chains that are Class S compatible. For a set that matches this criteria and will fit your 265/50R20 sized tires I suggest the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2326. These chains install manually but use tensioners to assist with adjustment and tighten them on your tires. They're also made...

  • Loose Tension Chain on the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains
I would first check to make sure that you received the same size chain in both kits. There should be a two digit number on the green hooks, as long as they all match then this is not the issue. I would then check to make sure all tires are the same brand, even if they are all the same size there could be some discrepancy in regards to physical size. Once these are both checked then you may just have the chain slightly off center on the tire so I recommend just taking it off and then...

  • Tire Chains to Fit 2004 Ford F-350 for Plowing
The Titan Chain snow chains you referenced, part # TC2828, are a good chain for the purpose you're intending to use them but they may not be a good choice for your truck. First of all it depends on your tire size. Let me know what size tires you have on your truck so I can confirm a fit. Secondly, your 2004 Ford F-350's owner's manual recommends Class S compatible chains to make sure there's enough clearance between the chain and any part of the truck such as wiring or brake lines. With...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 265/70R17
Situations like yours are interesting as it would seem there would be more than enough clearance for snow chains to install on your 2012 GMC 1500, but with that said we can't safely recommend anybody install a set of tire chains on a vehicle where the owners manual clearly states they are prohibited. Your best option would be to get an inexpensive set of low profile chains so that if you get stopped in one of the states that require snow chains you have something to show the DOT. For...

  • Class S Tire Snow Chains For 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimed With 255/70/18 Tires
Your 2016 Jeep Sahara Wrangler Unlimited manual allows for class s chains, but doesn't specify your tire size. The class s tire chains I suggest for your Jeep are the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair, # TC2326. The link thickness is 3.7 mm on these chains. They are made from manganese nickel alloy which is a very strong, durable, and rust resistant construction. I've attached a couple videos of this installation for you.

  • What To Do With Extra Tire Chain Links that Dangle on Titan Tire Chain # TC2228CAM
I'd recommend removing the extra links as that will be safer than trying to secure them. This way you'd never have to worry about the links becoming unsecured and hitting something in your already tight clearances.

  • Availability of Tire Chains for GMC Acadia Denali with P255/55R20 Size Tires
The smaller tire sizes offered on your vehicle like the 255/65-18 DO have available chains such as the # TC2326. Currently we do not show any confirmed tire chain fits for your GMC Acadia Denali with P255/55R20 size tires. I suggest you start off with a review of your owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions regarding chain use. Your tire size and other vehicle features can affect whether chains are suitable for use on your Acadia.

  • Tire Chains that Will Fit a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2013 Jeep Wrangler
Titan tire chains # TC2326 do indeed fit both the 265/50R20 tires and the 255/70R18 tires on your Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. The reason you were told not to install chains is because on some vehicles the inner tire sidewall is very close to other vehicle components. There is a chance the chains can make contact leading to damage to the vehicle. It may even state in your owner's manual not to use chains or to only use a certain kind of chain or only with a certain tire size. The...

The chains are pretty simple to install, as you can see from the install video and instructions I've linked for you. The TC2326 features 3.77mm thick links. Titan also offers the same chain but with thicker chain links, part # TC2526 that has 5.5mm thick...

  • Tire Chain Use on Tandem Axle Horse Trailer with Electric Brakes
If your tandem axle horse trailer has brakes on both axles then ideally you will want to install compatible tire chains on both axles, all four tires. This will do more to avoid the trailer trying to get ahead of you (!) on a slippery road surface. Even if you do not need the chains to slow the trailer they will still help to avoid lateral movement of the trailer on the road. Laws vary by state concerning use of tire chains on trailers. California and Oregon, for example, require chains...
