Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Great Company! I called etrailer about paying extra to ship faster after the fact. They said not to worry and got the tire chains out that day. I had them in three days. Very nice of them! I watched the video and then put the chains on our jeep went on with out any issues very easy. I recommend this company and these tire chains. 733893

Chains were easy to equip. No need to drive on which is great if you're already slipping. After a few miles they would loosen up (no real way to tighten them since i was already pulling it across the tire). Advertised as low profile, but eventually loosened and damaged inner wheel well liner. Great for the price and only if driving a few miles 738218

Headache over Donner Pass this weekend. Hopefully won't have to use these, but if I do...they look to be a quality product. Test fit last night and they are fairly easy install. Recommend test fit before you have to actually use them. 2014 Wrangler Rubicon 729649

The chains arrived quickly. It's great that they come with a carrying case too. They seem to be made very well. They were simple to install on my pickup. I haven't used them in the snow yet. I'll try to update this review after I use them. 166308

The chains were fairly easy to install in my garage and fit well. So far I have not had to install them at night, on a cold and snowy road. Like insurance, I hope I never need them! 727861

I am writing this review to let you know that I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with your prompt delivery, quality of product, and follow-up with product satisfaction. More companies should follow your business model and professionalism. The chains came in a wonderful carrying case, simple to follow instructions and showed up on time! Nothing could be better than that! I will be recommending you to all of my friends should they have need of your service! I will also be letting all of my friends on SOCIAL MEDIA about you as well! 2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

Bought these for my new 2018 Ram Tradesman after trying some SCC Z Chains which, even though they are rated S class, had inner brackets and cables that seemed far to close to the rubber brake line on this Ram (which is unfortunately very close to the tire). These Titan chains are very easy to install, and have a very clean profile on the inside (see pic), so I think these will be fine on this truck. They also come in a very nice, compact soft case, and are far easier to pack back up than other chains I've used. I've only tried them on my driveway, so can't comment on how they handle in the snow, but I suspect the diamond design should work very well. I did notice that moving the truck after installing, they did need to be snugged up by moving the one tensioner, but that's to be expected as they settle and center themselves on the tire. Very nice design with the stiff cable on the inside, and unique, easy to use tensioner system. 593401

Chevrolet Silverado

Received two sets of chains, one for Jeep Cherokee and other for my Silverado. Shipping and delivery was very fast. Tested the installation and fit. Easy installation and fit on Silverado even with oversized tires. One reason I purchased from eTrailer was their sites ability to let me select the tire size - since I have oversized tires on both vehicles. Other sites tried to fit to the standard tire sizes. Excellent service and value. 335832

2016 Toyota Tundra

Just completed fit-check of these chains on my two vehicles (2016 Toyota Tundra, P255/70R18, Michelin LTX MS2; 2010 Toyota Sequoia, P275/55R20 111S M+S, Bridgestone Dueler H/L) and all is good! Hardest part of installation was untangling the chains to lay out on the ground (that always is, for me!). Practice makes it easier. Thank you etrailer! Rolling a few revolutions and re-tightening chains IS important. Don't leave that step out. I'm going to add rubber tensioners (old-school, I know) just to be sure. Pics are of the 2010 Sequoia and 2016 Tundra. 598550

Ive only had to use them once in the year Ive had them I live in SoCal, after all!. Easy on, easy off. Work good.

2012 Ford F-150

Overall, a great product! I practiced throwing on the chains just once the day before my trip and was able install them in the snow in about 10 minutes with no major issues. Great traction. Only reason these chains are not getting 5 stars is one of the chain links that are preset in the bracket popped out when we went through a small 12" snow berm which caused the chain to fall off the tire. Easily fixed in less than 5 minutes with some pliers. Well worth the money and I would definately purchase these chains again. 335652

OMG...Talk about over delivering! A very well constructed item (in a hard shell carrying case- I was surprised to see that) this allows you not to worry about damaging the chains or rolling around your vehicle when not in use. *Such a little thing but HUGE at the same time* Etrailer made my decision very easy with not only competitive pricing in the market, but NUMEROUS options for all your needs and price ranges, along with actual video PROOF that these fit or work on your vehicle. I had 3 different tire stores tell me no to this purchase (when the owners manual CLEARLY states you can with the right size and brand) along with etrailer verifying this item with "how to" videos so you know exactly what you are getting with video proof. Definitely made me a satisfied customer and I will buying more from etrailer for other vehicles in the family. 592520

For a 2014 durango they work really well but to get them right you will need 2 extra red clips to get the tensioning chain tight enough. They have them in the website. The customer service was very good when I call them to describe the situation. They had me send them a photo and spoken to the vendor on my behalf. 3xcellent customer sercice. 612824

Fast shipping, came quicker than expected. Installation is a breeze, although I tried it on my driveway. I'm not sure how easy it would be when there is snow everywhere, but overall I'm happy. I haven't had a need to try them on the road, but I figured it's good to be prepared, hope i never need them. 915102

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 255/75-17 Tires on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
If you are only using the chains for on-road applications with your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited then I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2326 because they use square links in a diamond pattern for the best traction out there. These chains are also Class S compatible so you won't ever have to worry about clearance issues. For off-road applications you will want something a little more heavy-duty on your 255/75-17 size tires. In this case I recommend the Titan Chain...
