Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

2006 Toyota 4Runner

I haven't driven with them yet, but I like the size of the chain and the design, and expect them to ride smoother than ladder chains. The storage bag is nice also. They were easy to put on without moving the vehicle, and they fit perfectly on the 265/70-17 tires on my Toyota 4Runner. I've added a rubber tie down strap to tighten them further just in case. In the photo the vehicle hasn't moved yet, I might have to adjust them a bit, but they do feel pretty tight already.

Tire chains are too loose, the tightening chain was pulled as fas as possible, but still too loose

I have reached out to the manufacturer about the installation of the chain. It was suggested to take the pull chain up through the next yellow side chain then bring it back and that would tighten better. Before taking this step I recommend taking the chains off and then reinstalling. Please note that it is recommended that you pull forward a few feet in order to let the chains reset and then tighten as needed.

2013 Ford F-150

Chains fit my Blizzak 265/70 R17 tires perfectly. I'll be honest, I was expecting thicker links (similar to old school snow chains) but since my vehicle requires Class S chains I guess the links need to be a smaller gauge. No worries, I did a test install in the garage and they went on fine. Also took a test drive on snow covered gravel road and they worked as advertised. No regrets on my purchase, in fact I might get an additional set for my front tires as well at some point. Shipping was extremely fast. Hopefully I'll never need them, but if I do it's good to know I've got them in the vehicle.

Perfect. I did get a second set for my front tires and have had the opportunity to use them on county roads that arent plowedmaintained by the county. Worked perfect. Continue to highly recommend.

2016 Toyota Tundra

Just completed fit-check of these chains on my two vehicles (2016 Toyota Tundra, P255/70R18, Michelin LTX MS2; 2010 Toyota Sequoia, P275/55R20 111S M+S, Bridgestone Dueler H/L) and all is good! Hardest part of installation was untangling the chains to lay out on the ground (that always is, for me!). Practice makes it easier. Thank you etrailer!

Rolling a few revolutions and re-tightening chains IS important. Don't leave that step out. I'm going to add rubber tensioners (old-school, I know) just to be sure.

Pics are of the 2010 Sequoia and 2016 Tundra.

Ive only had to use them once in the year Ive had them I live in SoCal, after all!. Easy on, easy off. Work good.

2017 Toyota 4Runner

The chains go on much more easily than the old ladder type and of course offer great traction. Be sure to take them off in exactly the reverse order as you put them on. Otherwise, like me, you will have to climb under the truck to get them off. As always E-trailer under promises and out performs getting these back ordered chains to me before i head off to the mountains from frozen Northern Minnesota.

2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

Bought these for my new 2018 Ram Tradesman after trying some SCC Z Chains which, even though they are rated S class, had inner brackets and cables that seemed far to close to the rubber brake line on this Ram (which is unfortunately very close to the tire). These Titan chains are very easy to install, and have a very clean profile on the inside (see pic), so I think these will be fine on this truck.

They also come in a very nice, compact soft case, and are far easier to pack back up than other chains I've used. I've only tried them on my driveway, so can't comment on how they handle in the snow, but I suspect the diamond design should work very well. I did notice that moving the truck after installing, they did need to be snugged up by moving the one tensioner, but that's to be expected as they settle and center themselves on the tire. Very nice design with the stiff cable on the inside, and unique, easy to use tensioner system.

I really like the ease of installation of this style of chain. The diamond pattern is a smoother ride. They have good grip on thick ice. The manufacturer even included repair links and gloves to use if i wanted to dye my hair. I received my order faster than expected and really liked etrailers detailed order tracking.

These chains are much lighter weight than my older set, so I don't know how well they'll hold up to abuse. I mainly use them when I pull my fish house. They grip well on snow-covered lakes and are easy enough to get on and off.

Toyota Tacoma

This is our second time ordering online from etrailer. Both times were excellent experiences and their product quality is second to none. The snow chains we ordered arrived within a couple of days, traveling from MO to CA. These chains are very easy to install and remove and are come in their own cases. We ordered two sets (four chains) for our AWD Dodge Durango. I also have two sets for my Toyota Tacoma 4X4 that I ordered previously from etrailer.

Jeep Wrangler

Good little set of light chains. I use them on my Jeep Wrangler, only in very icy / snowy conditions in BC Mountains. I can now put them on in under 5 minutes, less for taking them off. Have kept up pretty well it seems after a year of use (probably 20+ times on/off). Would recommend.

I am writing this review to let you know that I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with your prompt delivery, quality of product, and follow-up with product satisfaction. More companies should follow your business model and professionalism. The chains came in a wonderful carrying case, simple to follow instructions and showed up on time! Nothing could be better than that! I will be recommending you to all of my friends should they have need of your service! I will also be letting all of my friends on SOCIAL MEDIA about you as well! Feeling very good about my purchase and my wife and I's upcoming move to Jackson Wyoming! Thank you.

2015 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

Have not yet used them but the quality of the cabling and chain is very good. The chains come in a flexible waterproof zip up case that fits perfectly in the spare tire bay in our 2015 MBZ GL-450. This a plus, as I can store them year round and not worry if I packed the chains and they won't be in the way of the groceries.
Looking forward to not needing them, but if I do I have full confidence that they will safely get us to where we are going.

2017 Toyota 4Runner

Love these chains. They are super quick and easy to put on/take off. A friend said to purchase spare rubber bungees in case these break, but so far so good.

Excellent product. Install time is much faster than chains without the cable that attaches in the rear. Integral tightening is slick. No need for tools to tighten cams or cable ties to secure loose chain ends.

They have been sitting under my back seat since I bought them a year ago. Only been on my tires to make sure they fit. My 4x2 truck has handled snow and off road easily, these are my insurance policy in case it cant.

Bought 2 sets of the Chains for a 4-wheel winter trip through Canada to Alaska and back to the states, including a side trip to an ice road north of White Horse. They arrived shortly after ordered and were nicely packaged in a handy and durable container. During test fitting, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The chains slipped on easily and looked great on the tires. I was almost disappointed that the Bridgestone Blizak snow tires we used worked so well that we never got to use the chains in over 6000 miles of snow and ice covered roads.

However, I am giving the chains a 5 star rating because they went on so easily and looked so great during the test fitting that I just can't imagine them not working well.

If I could, I would give and its sales staff a 10 star rating for their professionalism and help!

Thanks, etrailer!

2017 Dodge Ram Pickup

Chains come in nice carrying case that fits underneath rear seat cushion of 2017 Ram 1500. Ram Owners' Manual says that these chains can be used on rear axle on trucks with 265R/70 17 tires.

Ive yet to use the chains but keep them handy underneath my back seat.

2021 Jeep Wrangler

These days we mostly rely on Amazon for online shopping - however, I am thrilled to have decided to purchase directly through etrailer for the following reasons:
1) Confidence - There's shwarmy re-selling on Amazon, where I felt confident I was going to get what I asked for from etrailer (and I did!).
2) Speed - Again, not quite 2 days guaranteed (which those of us with Prime have become accustomed to), but my two sets of chains only took maybe an extra day.
3) Process - etrailer provided easy-to-follow email updates on the order, shipping, delivery, and follow-up.

Given how heavy-duty these chains are, and my infrequency of use, I suspect I'll be good for a long time. But when the time comes, I'll gladly purchase directly through etrailer again.

Ps. DEFINITELY practice getting these on once before you need them. It just takes one attempt to recognize how easy they are to equip/take off, but never hurts.

Got stuck on a seasonal road but was able to install these and make it out with no issues. Work as advertised.

2012 Ford F-150

Overall, a great product! I practiced throwing on the chains just once the day before my trip and was able install them in the snow in about 10 minutes with no major issues. Great traction.

Only reason these chains are not getting 5 stars is one of the chain links that are preset in the bracket popped out when we went through a small 12" snow berm which caused the chain to fall off the tire. Easily fixed in less than 5 minutes with some pliers.

Well worth the money and I would definately purchase these chains again.

The tire chains are easy to install. Only had to use them one time and they performed great.

Great product. Would not hesitate to buy again.

GMC Terrain

I bought these chains as I was going into the snow and was expecting to have to use them. The weather was better than expected and I didn’t have to chain up but they fit great when I tried them on at home. I had a hard time finding chains that would fit as I have all terrain tires. Every other order I got from different vendors would never fit. I contacted the customer service department from etrailer letting them know what I needed and they were a great help. They knew exactly what I would need and it worked perfectly!

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ordered from etrailer because they had great customer service reviews and quality products - I was not disappointed on either one. etrailer was able to ship chains across the country during blizzards and storms and still get it here on time. The chains are high quality and were at a great price. First impressions of both etrailer and the chains delivered are very positive, and I plan to shop here again the next time I need something.

Chains were delivered quickly and the website videos were very helpful.

Chains were easy to equip. No need to drive on which is great if you're already slipping. After a few miles they would loosen up (no real way to tighten them since i was already pulling it across the tire). Advertised as low profile, but eventually loosened and damaged inner wheel well liner.
Great for the price and only if driving a few miles
