2. Reach around to the back of the tire and fasten the rear side cable by running the end with the metal stops through the eye of the hook on the opposite end.

Cable chain installation Step 3

3. Run any excess side cable through the metal clip.

Cable chain installation Step 4

4. Repeat this process on the front side of the tire.

Cable chain installation Step 5

5. Drive forward 1 car length, then check the chain and hand tighten it again if needed.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large, aftermarket tires - may require Class S chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Cable Snow Tire Chain Installation - 2015 Honda Accord

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Honda Accord we're going to be looking at Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire chains, and that's Part Number TC1034. These tire chains are in compliance with SAE Class S requirements which basically just means that they've got a low profile design so they'll fit well in wheel wells with limited clearance, and it's not going to cause any interference. These chains feature a ladder pattern with a steel roller design which makes it effective for starting and stopping in light snow and ice. These chains are going to best for occasional use such as for an emergency or just to be compliant with the local laws.To install these chains we're first going to unroll them and inspect them to make sure there's no breaks in the chains or anything that would compromise the integrity of the chains. When we unroll them we're going to make sure that our end hooks are facing the front of the car.For our Honda Accord we're going to only install them on the front two tires. When we lay out our chains we want to make sure that these cross hooks are facing up so that they don't do any damage to our tires. There is an imprinted mark on the back that says tire side, so be sure that is facing down.To install these chains it's always a good idea to wear gloves so you don't scrape up your hands.

We're going to start by grabbing the middle of the chain and looping it over the tire. We want to try to get it balanced on the tire so that the same amount is on the back side as the front side.We then put our cables on either side, make sure they're pointing towards the front of the car, and try to pull this side down as far as you can. It'll make it easier when we go around to the back. We're going to go ahead and start on the back, but I want to show you while we're here what we're going to be doing back there. So this end cap has a large space and a smaller space. We're going to take your cable and push it through the larger space, and then make sure it connects with the smaller.Like I said, we're going to first start on the back.

The easiest way I've found is to grab the end hook with your thumb and then reach out with your fingers for the cable. That gives you the dexterity to then push the cable through a larger part of the end hook. I'm going to go ahead and try and get up to the second notch on the cable just so it's nice and tight. Now we're going to go ahead and do the same thing on the front. Again, ensuring that it's pulled around enough, and then looping it through. I'm going to go ahead and try for a second notch on the fat.

It's a little bit harder because the back is already tight. You want to make sure that whether you do the second notch or the first notch on the back, you always want to be plus or minus one of the notches. So since we're on the two here, the back, we would either want to be on the first or the third. If you do find that you have excess cable, we've also provided this tab here that holds onto the cable if you have access. While it's not included, we do highly recommend that you use one of these rubber tire chain adjusters. This is Part Number TCMA2.

When you use it you want to make sure that that hook is facing away from your tire so as not to cause any damage, and then we'll put it on in an alternating fashion so that the tension remains even across. This will help keep the chain snug to your tire. Now that we've got the chain installed on this tire, we'll go ahead and repeat the process on the other one. That's it for our Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire chains on our 2015 Honda Accord.

These chains are a safety feature to be carried in my wife's trunk so IF & WHEN we do need them we will have them handy. This works along the same principle as having a spare tire in your trunk. When you have an unexpected flat tire you are so thankful you have a solution to your problem with you. Thanks, Michael 451034

Good looking product. Having chains in the trunk during winter travel is a must here in CA. CHP will turn you around in a second and you will have to hunt for chains who knows where, if you don't plan ahead. A great insurance policy to have these in the trunk, even if you don't use them. The set I bought for another car never got used, but I don't consider them a waste of money. 590195

Thanks so much for your assistance in compliance with our new traction law on I70 through the Colorado mountains. Your site was easy to use in sizing chains, ordering with fast, efficient delivery. Additionally the installation video was very helpful for those of us new to the process. 706193

These chains are awesome, super easy to install and they work great. We had some snow recently and these were exactly what I needed, I was able to get up the hill near my house when 4x4 trucks couldn't. 470907

These are good quality cables, I never had to use them, the studded tires got me through an easy winter before trading in the car. I just carried them just in case. 605850

Cables are compact for fitting in low profile areas like my wife's Honda Accord. Only issue is that the size recommended, I'm on the last rung of the cable and not able to attach the extra safety loop. It still seems very secure though. The deeper the snow the better, as it lessens road vibration. In PA we had ice and about 5 inches of snow on the roads. I went everywhere better than the 4x4's were making out. Thousands cheaper than buying a new truck. More $$$ for my hotrod fund. CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT and 5 star! I even received a follow up email and phone call. I'm in sales and can't say this even happens anymore. Thank you ! 609447

I've used the cable snow chains with steel rollers in Colorado when the DOT announced chain laws over the radio. It does its job of keeping the vehicle on the road and it's easy to put on the wheels. Great for emergency use if caught in ice or snow. I keep two pairs of chains in the car just in case we run into increment weather. As to the different brands, I'll have to see which one lasts longer when they are used. Etrailer is a great place to shop. 175772

Don't buy these chains. Ladder chains are inferior to Z-type or diamond-pattern chains, and are occasionally prohibited on certain icy highways. These are also of low quality construction. I had an issue where the chain got bent around itself (and my axle), so it could not be removed, and had to be cut off my car. 736405

  • Recommended Class S Tire Cables For 2003 Honda CR-V
I researched the CR-V owner's manual and found the same information you said you found. It clearly states you can use 'S' rated cables but not chains on your front tires. The cables I recommend for your Honda are the Titan Chain Cable Snow Chains, part # TC1034. These have a ladder pattern steel rollers, which gives you a smoother ride than typical chains do. To make sure the cables stay secure on the wheels I recommend using tire chain adjusters like part # TCMA2. As a rule...

  • Will Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains fit 2014 Nissan Sentra, 205-55/16 Size Tires
The Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC1034 will fit the 205/55-16 size tires on the 2014 Nissan Sentra. These cables will help provide traction in light snow and the low profile will offer a smooth ride. The Sentra's owner's manual requires that Class S chains be used, and the # TC1034 cables comply with that requirement. Per the owner's manual, chains or cables should only be installed on the front wheels. Rubber adjusters are recommended to use with these cables. I recommend...
