Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Dodge Dart

These are the first chains I have bought for a car. Bought them in preparation for a trip to Canada this winter and to have just in case this winter around Kansas City. I was worried about how difficult chains would be to install on a Dodge Dart but these were super easy to install, 5 min per tire my first time putting them on. They fit tightly and I can’t wait to try them out in the snow. Customer service was also great with my order. They were delivered several days before they were suposed to and sent me a personal email letting me know they were shipped out early. This was a great touch considering most online orders involve no personal contact from the business. I Will definitely purchase from etrailer again because of the service. 451385

I’ve used them a couple times. Easy to install on the side of the road when needed! Still in great shape. I keep them in my vehicle in the winter.

I haven't had a chance to use these yet, but I'm extremely satisfied with the shipping and packaging. I ordered them on a Sunday and received the Tuesday. The have a nice carrying case and have step by step instructions in the bag. As much as I hate snow, I'm hoping to try them out at least once this winter. Thanks etrailer! 719551

Like previous orders from etrailer, received the tire chains I'd ordered rapidly and in great shape. Having been caught in an unexpected snow storm while towing my travel trailer, I decided to buy a set of chains for use just in case we get caught in the snow again. I bought these for one pair of tires on my travel trailer with tire size ST205/75R14. I've installed them in a test fit and all went smoothly. They are really easy to install and get tight. I'm in California and I won't need them here for months, but I'm headed to Alaska where I may encounter snow or ice - they are intended only as a precaution. The product looks well made, fits great and they come in a decent carrying case. I'm very pleased with my purchase. 635779

The tire chains for the trailer fit great, I haven't tested on the road in snow, but they fit perfectly. So far, they appear to be of good quality, and I'm sure they'll do the job in a bad situation and emergency. I will follow up again should the need arise in using them. Thank you! 611864

etrailer.com provided me with excellent service. The part I ordered had to be delivered by a specific date. They discovered it was on back order and contacted me right away. Cathy was able to work with me on the phone and find a product that was better than the one I previously ordered. She got the ordered completed and delivered immediately. Used these once to cross the Donner Pass. The chains did their job, good traction and safe journey. However, one link on one side of the car broke after about 10 miles and beat the underside of the fender the rest of the way (no way to stop and repair). Had to replace fender protector upon return form my trip. 597772

I needed chains for three vehicles. I've used these chains in the past and knew they were the ones I wanted. They are easy to put on and provide great traction. I ordered them from etrailer because etrailer had the best price, but I was very impressed with etrailer's service, particularly their proactive communication. 464627

2004 Saab 9-5

Bought these chains for my Saab 9-5, fit is perfect for my 205-55-16 week/tire size. First time putting them on took me a minute to figure out but is quite easy overall. I live in Vermont with a crappy steep driveway. Generally speaking we only run awd or 4wd cars but this year I ended up having to use my summer beater Saab for the winter. It has good snow tires but the lack of awd made leaving the driveway a struggle. I have the sort of job where I just simply have to get there no matter what. The chains let me claw out onto the road in very snowy, icy conditions where otherwise there wouldn't be a chance in hell this front weel drive car would make it on it's own. Haven't really used them very much so we'll see how they hold up. 461341

Comments
After a winter of use: saved me from being stuck in the drive way a number of times. Therefore pretty pleased overall. It’s a huge pain to put them on in the dark and snow but I can’t see how buying a different product would solve this. No substitute for awd or 4wd but they got me through with the beater I had.

I'll give this product a good review based on my experience with etrailer. They were reasonably priced and arrived in a timely manner. Customer service is always great with updates about shipping and delivery. However, these are snow chains. I bought them more as a "just in case" item and have yet to use them. Should i use them this winter i will check back in with an updated review. 314522

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

These chains are by far the easiest chains I have ever put on or taken off a truck 10 minutes to put on and five minutes to take off. I am in a wheelchair so getting on the ground is not the easiest thing to do so with these chains taking so little time to put on it is a blessing. No Jack and no running them over to put them on. You may have to drive over them to take them off. Used one set last winter to plow a 6 1/2 mike gravel road and did awesome so I bought a set for the front. 694521

Still running strong. due to my own fault I had to replace 2 links as I spun my tires on bare frozen gravel road . But they are still a amazing chain

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

The titan Chain Diamond Lt Alloy Chain-sq Link work great on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. It’s been a year since I bought them, and I knew they fit because I practiced at home, but last weekend I used them in the snow for real. Easy to install, not too much vibration while driving, and easy to take off. Bonus: they fit easily back into the case! Never had a set of chains that easy to put away. 733031

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Looking for snow chains for a 4x4 truck with larger tires is no easy task. Working with etrailer team via email, was very smooth and easy, my questions answered. I selected the TC2539 chain set due to the diamond pattern that has better sidewall traction and holding strength for use on off road trails during off camber driving. Upon receipt, I quickly reviewed and sent the team an email asking about the square lug size that I measured vs the stated data on the website. My questions where quickly and professional addressed and resolved. In the era of wanting and needing everything yesterday, and almost every company going away from human contact, etrailers is the pleasant exception with both personal email and telephone contact. This is not my first purchase with etrailers and won't be my last, it was a very nice experience to deal with the team. Rating is on my service contact. I have just received the new chains at the end of the snow season, so haven't yet run these chains. Past chains have been the same style and were great, much quieter on the road than ladder time due to extra contact. Thanks 475732
