Question:
Hello, my daughter lives in Bellingham WA. And gets occasional snow. Her Prius is 2010 I think. Would cables or chains be better for this vehicle? Thank You

For a 2010 Toyota Prius, the owners manual specifies to use class s tire chains or cables. If she has 15 inch wheels with the factory 195/65-15 tires, then I recommend the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K23 # TH02230K23 for the best traction and zero internal clearance so they are sure to work well. If ease of installation along with traction is the priority, then I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - Easy Fit CU9 - Size 080 # TH04115080. These chains have a foot lever to adjust the tension. For a more cost effective option, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC1535.
If she has the other factory size 215/45-17, then for those same chain styles you would want # TH02230K22, # TH04115090, and # TC1540.
Chains will almost always give you better traction than cables, and these options come with cases, and extras to assist with installation.
