Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Chain Diamond Alloy Snow Tire Chains Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan chain alloy snow tire chains, part number TC2533. These Titan chains are going to provide you with excellent grip and stopping power on ice. They feature a diamond pattern, rather than a ladder pattern, so they're going to give you more tire coverage which means more traction than your average chain. The square links are going to give you the bite you need and the smaller size is going to reduce jarring. The integrated tensioner allows you to control the fit of your chains and it makes installation very easy. The links are 5.5 millimeters thick and are designed to work with wheel sized between 15 and 20 inches. See etrailer.com for your exact tire size. They are made out of a nickel manganese alloy construction so they're going to be strong, durable, and rust resistant. Some tire chains recommend or require an additional tensioner, but with the built in tensioner on these tire chains it eliminates the need. They have a maximum speed rating of 30 mph, they come in a quantity of two, and it also includes this nice bag so we can stow it without losing them. It's a good idea to go ahead and lay your chain out and make sure there's no kinks, twists, or any tangles in it.

You'll also want to be sure that with these hooks here, the open side is going to be facing away from our tire. The smooth side is what's going to be coming in contact, so we've got it laid out in such a way that that's going to happen. We'll bring our cable around. We want to be sure and stop when we get to the center. That's going to be the center behind our tire. Once we've done that we can take our two cables, we're actually going to come up behind the tire, then at the same time we'll bring our chains over the top part of the tire.

You want to make sure that it's even on both sides. Then we can take our green hook and connect it to one of the three yellow links here. Let's go ahead and do the closest one to the chain here, we can always adjust it out if need be. Then we'll work our way down to the bottom, we'll grab our grey chain and our red channel. We're going to go underneath and then pull it nice and tight, up, until it locks into place. Just like that. Then we can take it and go through the red loop, then we'll go through the next one.

Once we get it through there we'll go directly across and hook it on to one of the yellow links. As you can see it's nice and tight and we're ready to repeat the same process on the other side. Once you get both sides installed it is a good idea to drive a short distance, stop, get out, and make any adjustments you may need. That's going to complete our look at the Titan chain alloy snow tire chains, with diamond pattern and square link, part number TC2533.

Received my chains yesterday. Was looking for something to use on an upcoming elk hunt to Colorado. Wanted something easier to install than the standard chains I had. Put these on in just a few minutes and was quite simple to do, not having to crawl under the truck was a plus. I love the carrying case that was included, I'm sure these will work great for what I need them for. We don't always need chains but when we do it will be nice to have something so easy to install. Thanks 308976

Shipping was extremely fast. I ordered around 4pm, and it shipped out that night and arrived a couple days later which was great. All i have done so far is test fit the chains and they went on easier than i expected. The fit was great on 275/60 20. If i actually need to use them and can edit this i will post back. 461491

I haven't had an incident to use it since the purchase. I bought it for preventive reason. Better to have one and never need it, than to not have it when need it. eTrailer is very prompt on the order and delivered on time. This product is very easy to install compare to other chains. And that should make a huge difference in snow cold situations. 330381

I bought these chains so we would have them if they were required to get over the mountain passes we traveled to see our daughter at Christmas. Although we did not need them this trip, I was glad to know I had them. I was very pleased with the service I received from e-trailer---Patrick,in particular, was very helpful and the chains came just when he said they would. The chain links were smaller gauge then I thought they would be but the chains were so easy to put on. Disappointed we didn't get to use them yet but winter has just begun. As a truck driver, I know what a pain installing and taking chains off can be but these were very easy to install. 328929

I couldn't be happier with etrailer and these snow chains. etrailer had the best price I could find and within a few hours of placing my order it was shipped. Customer service at it's best! The chains fit my truck perfectly. They are much easier to put on than the old style snow chains. I watched the youtube video and did a test installation in under 5 minutes on the first try. Both sides. 161658

I have purchased several items from etrailer, including two pairs of tire chains and a trailer wiring harness for a vehicle. Service has been great and the products excellent. I will buy from them again when I have a need, and strongly recommend them. 309184

Great chains, I've used them numerous times pulling the fish house out on the lake. They're super easy to put on, and once properly tensioned they don't loosen up. They give good grip, and are pretty quiet compared to a traditional ladder chain. It doesn't feel like you're running on rumble strips. Only problem I had with them is one time the main ball and socket connector froze up and I had to hit it with a torch to thaw it out so I could disconnect it and get the chains off. It was -20 below at the time so I'm sure that had a little to do with it. Otherwise I recommend them highly, so highly infact that I ordered a set for my sister-in law, for her truck. 462847

I have only used them a couple times. They got me through some pretty deep snow that I was unable to get through without them. They are pretty easy to put on, I would say they took around 20 minutes to do 4 tires. I installed them then drove about 100 feet and retightened them and they stayed tight for the rest of my trip. I have 285 65 r18 tires and these are slightly to big I just had to hook up the bungee differently and they worked fine. 325902

Do not buy. Waste of money. Cheap. Something I would expect from Harbor freight. I am the know all leading authority on all things snow chains. Spent 3 years in the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY so I consider myself an expert. I wouldn't consider these chains for even light duty. They lasted seriously maybe 30 feet and multiple links connecting to the inner cable broke. I had them on tight with extra 6 point chain tighteners as well as lowering the air pressure on the tire and got the chains as tight as possible then re-inflated the tire so the chain was literally part of the tire now and again didn't last 30 feet before they flew off with more broken links. So disappointed. I will definitely be calling E trailer first thing Monday to complain. Again, did not last 30 feet! Cost w/ tensioners close to $200! Garbage. 617705

Comments
These particular chains are meant for use on a passenger vehicle on paved roads. To ensure the smoothest ride possible the chain links are relatively small. Inflating the tire while the chain was in place is a great idea in theory, but its a practice Titan chain doesnt recommend as it can actually weaken the chains because of the huge amount of outward pressure placed on the chain by the expanding tire.

I got the chains and tired them on tonight and they seem big. With the tension all the way tight there was still slop in the chain system. It definitely seems like they could tighten more. The instructions show a few inches of available tension when the chains are on plus I had to loop the bungee cord around another section of chain to get any tightness. It just does not seem like the proper fit and may cause issue when in use. Is there a smaller size or another tire chain that would better fit a 275/65R18 tire??? 595794

Comments
It does not look like the chains are too large for the tire. I recommend Rubber Tire Chain Adjusters par t# TCMA2 to tighten up the fit.

Ok 1st off I live in Central Texas, but we go up to Utah to go skiing throughout the winter months very often. The chains are very very easy to put on and take off I would say it only took me five minutes per side to put them on. I rolled in the driveway about two revelations after putting them on the tires then tighten them up even more. In a month I'll be going to go ski so I'll let you all know the performance of the snow chains. My dad is from Long Island & he said I got a good product & he couldn't believe the short time it took to put them on my truck & that I didn't have to lay on the ground at all to put them on. He did say that I would have more traction with the design of the chains other than the ones that he had up north with the chain only going in a straight line across the tire. We shall see in time. 314037

I've needed snow chains since one of mine came off last year in deep snow and was lost, and several people suggested these chains as a replacement. Their order process was easy and quick, but their shipping was quicker than that. The product is much lighter than my other chains but I believe they will work as well or better. Also, they are very easy to put on compared to regular "Old Time" chains. Did not get dirty and it took less than 5 minutes to put on. I would highly recommend these chains, especially for those of us over 65 years of age. 225771

Comments
They work better that I thought they would. We used these chains while Elk hunting in heavy snow. They are as easy to put on in the snow as on dry land. They worked as well as the older ones but were so much easier to work with. I will purchase these again when needed. I have recommended them to all my hunting partners and would recommend them to anyone needing chains that are easy and quick to put on. I was in the snow less than 10 minutes and stayed clean.

The TC2533 snow chains were the recommended size for my 275/65-18 tires, but when I tried to put them on the tensioning chain was too long. I contacted customer service immediately by email, and received a fast reply by telephone. After and exchange of information and a call back from customer service, I was told to wrap the tensioning chain around the yellow perimeter chain to take up some of the slack. Apparently, this came directly from Titan Chain, the manufacturer, as they provided a photo showing how to rig the tensioning chain, to take up the slack. I guess that solves the problem, and we shall see how well that works the first time I use them. Otherwise, the chains were easily installed, and other than the tensioning chain, they fit very well. eTrailer.com customer service was helpful, and quick to respond. 239919

Solid materials overall. I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars however because the single bungee tensioning is not sufficient. It was a pain to stop every 10 minutes to try to re-tighten or otherwise modify. I had need of them last fall during a high country hunt. Snow started dumping on us. The chains were at first put on to extract my truck from a jam, but I left them on due to the quickly deteriorating conditions. During use, the chains were still loose enough that they banged against mud flaps. I had stop often to tighten or adjust. Eventually I used accessory cord I had along to lace up the chains even tighter. That worked for a while. The last resort was to use my knife to drill a hole in my mud flaps and tie them backwards onto the cargo carrier on my hitch. They did the job, but what an awful nuisance! 759023

  • Difference Between Titan Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2524 and # TC2533
The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 and # TC2524 referenced in your question are both great options for tire chains that differ only in the tire sizes they are designed to fit. I recommend checking what size tires you have mounted on your 2006 Ram by looking at the listing on the tire's sidewall. The standard tire size for this truck is a 235/80-17, for which the Titan Chain # TC2524 will be a great fit. If you have the larger 275/60-20 tires, then the better option would...

Only a Ram dealer can give you the go-ahead to install chains on a vehicle where the owners manual leaves things a bit ambiguous.

  • Can Tire Chains be Used on All 4 Wheels of a 2008 Ford F-150
The use of chains is different for every vehicle. To determine where you should place the chains or other traction device on a given vehicle the first place to lock is the owner's manual. For the 2008 Ford F-150 the manual doesn't specify rear only or all of the wheel but does state the following: "Do not place chains on the following tires sizes: P265/60R18, P275/65R18, LT275/65R18, P275/55R20, and P275/45R22. Follow these guidelines when using snow tires and chains: Use only SAE...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 1500 with P275/60R20 Tires
For your P275/60R20 tires you have on your 2015 Ram 1500 the best tire chains we offer are going to be the part # TC2533. We had a guy come back and leave a review who used this set on a 2012 Ram with the same tires and they fit fine. He did say that airing the tires down helped as well. I attached a picture of the review he submitted. I also attached an install video that shows the chains being installed on a similar truck like yours.

  • Are There Snow Tire Chains Compatible with Both 275/60-20 and 285/75-16 Tire Sizes?
The chains for 285x75-16 tires will be quite a bit smaller than the 275/60-20 chains. The 285/75-16 tires will be 32.8 inches diameter with 11.2 inch width and 8.4 inch sidewall. The 275/60-20 tires will be 33 inches diameter with 10.8 inch width and 6.5 inch sidewall. We do not have any chains that fit both these sizes. I recommend the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners - Square Link - Reversible - 1 Pair # PWE2228SC for better traction or the Glacier V-Trac Cable...

  • Tire Chains for a 2013 Ford F-150 with 275/65-18 Tires
Tire size 275/65-18 is not one of the sizes that tire chains TH01571267 will fit. The closest match that fits that size is # TC2533. With that in mind I can't suggest you go against the owner's manual. However in some places chains are required by law. I call this the Tire Chain Paradox or Reno's Law which basically occurs when tires chains are required by law but the vehicle owner's manual says you can't use chains. It is my opinion that state/local law trumps the owner's manual...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains For 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500
For your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500, in the online owners manual it doesn't specify tire chains other than to use only on the back tires, not to use on certain tires at all, and to follow chain manufactures specifications. I recommend you double check in the manual that came with your vehicle. Your tires are not any of the factory sizes, so I'll give you what I recommend for your tire size. For class S compatible chains, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern...

  • Should Snow Chains be On Front and Rear Axle of 2015 Ford F-150
The Titan Tire Chains part # TC2533 are a fit for the tire size you have of 275/65R18 on your 2015 Ford F-150. Ideally you run a set of chains on the front and back axle so that you get max traction for braking, accelerating and turning. If you only installed one set of chains you'd have to use them on the rear axle of your truck since it's the primary drive axle. Some people get away with just one set of chains on the rear, but if at all possible I'd recommend you get a set for both axles.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2008 Toyota Tundra in the Rockies
I recommend going with the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 for your 275/65-18 tires on your 2008 Toyota Tundra. These feature square links in a diamond pattern for the maximum amount of traction while you're in the Colorado Rockies. I took a look at the online version of your owner's manual and it was very specific about the size of the chains used. Because of this I recommend checking your owner's manual and contacting your local Toyota dealer before going with a larger...

The use of tire chains on your 2012 Ram 1500 with 275/60-20 tires is prohibited from the manufacturer due to limited clearance between the wheel well and tire however, in most cases the clearance is indeed limited but not so much so that tire chains cannot be used. Manufacturers typically recommend not to use tire chains as this exempts them from liability claims but since certain states and conditions often require them by law, the choice whether or not to use them will ultimately be up...

For a set of tire chains confirmed to fit your P275/55R20 tire size that will be easy to install, will give you great traction in the snow, and will be easy on your wallet you would want the part # TC2533. Ideally you would put the chains on all four corners of the truck to provide the best traction. If you were to only run one set on your truck you would want to run them on the rear wheels since they are the primary drive wheels.
