Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)

After reviewing tech info and reviews I purchased Titan Alloy Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link part TC2533 for the 2018 Ram 2500. These are regular duty and a good fit. These chains offer a lot more clearance for the P-Brake cable. They are a cleaver design, have great carrying case and are fairly quick to install. I have not purchased winter tires for this vehicle so the Ram need chains to pull a travel trailer up and down our snow-covered road.

I got the chains and tired them on tonight and they seem big. With the tension all the way tight there was still slop in the chain system. It definitely seems like they could tighten more. The instructions show a few inches of available tension when the chains are on plus I had to loop the bungee cord around another section of chain to get any tightness. It just does not seem like the proper fit and may cause issue when in use. Is there a smaller size or another tire chain that would better fit a 275/65R18 tire???

Comments
It does not look like the chains are too large for the tire. I recommend Rubber Tire Chain Adjusters par t# TCMA2 to tighten up the fit.

Great chains, and the easiest to install that I have ever owned. Right after I bought them, I took a skiing trip to Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. We had a large snowfall on the second day, and I was able to chain the front tires of my 4x4 in the parking garage with no problems. We had over a foot of snow overnight. I was able to make it up to the resort from Mammoth Lakes, and even take Mammoth Mountain employees from Mammoth Lakes to the ski resort, even though the resort never was able to open due to the storm. I could not have made it without these chains.

Received the chains today, and being a little OCD thought I'd put one on a tire in the driveway ( I would rather learn on a non-snow environment than when I have to deal with snow). It isn't as easy as the video shows but I think with experience (which I hope I don't get) it will likely be as simple as the video shows. This is based on installation. I've used chains on a truck before and these were pretty easy to install compared to others.

The TC2533 snow chains were the recommended size for my 275/65-18 tires, but when I tried to put them on the tensioning chain was too long. I contacted customer service immediately by email, and received a fast reply by telephone. After and exchange of information and a call back from customer service, I was told to wrap the tensioning chain around the yellow perimeter chain to take up some of the slack. Apparently, this came directly from Titan Chain, the manufacturer, as they provided a photo showing how to rig the tensioning chain, to take up the slack. I guess that solves the problem, and we shall see how well that works the first time I use them. Otherwise, the chains were easily installed, and other than the tensioning chain, they fit very well. eTrailer.com customer service was helpful, and quick to respond.

Ok 1st off I live in Central Texas, but we go up to Utah to go skiing throughout the winter months very often. The chains are very very easy to put on and take off I would say it only took me five minutes per side to put them on. I rolled in the driveway about two revelations after putting them on the tires then tighten them up even more. In a month I'll be going to go ski so I'll let you all know the performance of the snow chains. My dad is from Long Island & he said I got a good product & he couldn't believe the short time it took to put them on my truck & that I didn't have to lay on the ground at all to put them on. He did say that I would have more traction with the design of the chains other than the ones that he had up north with the chain only going in a straight line across the tire. We shall see in time.

The entire process with etrailer, from ordering to delivery was easy and well coordinated. The site was great to work with as I looked for the proper chains. The Titan chains look like the will work great. Needed a set just in case of bad weather as we travel through the mountains.

Product was originally to be shipped in 5-7 business days, however it actually arrived in 3 with bo extra charge (it was ordered before last minute seasonal rush). It arrived in nice little carrying case which fits perfectly under trucks rear seats. Practiced installation in driveway, in nice weather, and product fit perfectly and was installed in way less than 5 minutes with minimum of kneeling. Removal and restorage took even less time. Awaiting real run/use in mountain passes before 5 star rating.

In five days arrived on Colorado mountain area. The chains were easy to put on 2017 Ram 2500 rear tires although narrow clearance, while Titan Chain V-Bar Ladder not fit here. they appear to be of good quality and should perform as expected when used. Yellow, red and blue three color on chains looks nice.

2018 Ford F-150

These chains are an excellent choice for the limited space the late model F150s give you in the front end. The low profile gives enough room to clear the wheel spindle. Takes me less than 5 minutes to place the chains on ( actually 2-3 minutes with some practice). I can't run my v-bar chains on the 2018 Fx4 F150 (front) like my previous 2004 Fx4 F150 --but these are a good alternative. Ford doesn't recommend chains on the front of their trucks --but if it would be necessary to chain all 4 wheels (BUYER'S DISCRETION-- will void warranty if you don't confirm clearance on your vehicle and chew up your spindle) - these are a great choice.

Chevrolet Colorado

Received my chains yesterday. Was looking for something to use on an upcoming elk hunt to Colorado. Wanted something easier to install than the standard chains I had. Put these on in just a few minutes and was quite simple to do, not having to crawl under the truck was a plus. I love the carrying case that was included, I'm sure these will work great for what I need them for. We don't always need chains but when we do it will be nice to have something so easy to install. Thanks

These chains are easy ro install, are low profile so can be used on the ford superdutys, come in a nice storage case. I used these chains in icy packed snow where the tiers just spin and would not move, installed chains and went on my way with in 30 minutes.

They go on fairly easily (10-15 minutes), and come off the same (10 minutes). At times I have an icy hill to negotiate, and they worked great! Very pleased...!!!

Fast ship! I needed chains in the event of an early snow in the mountains during an elk hunt. Shipment arrived in time, and while I haven't had to use them (yet), they came in a semi-soft sided carrier that is easy to store and put in my truck for use when needed. Great price and great service.

Do not buy. Waste of money. Cheap. Something I would expect from Harbor freight. I am the know all leading authority on all things snow chains. Spent 3 years in the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY so I consider myself an expert. I wouldn't consider these chains for even light duty. They lasted seriously maybe 30 feet and multiple links connecting to the inner cable broke. I had them on tight with extra 6 point chain tighteners as well as lowering the air pressure on the tire and got the chains as tight as possible then re-inflated the tire so the chain was literally part of the tire now and again didn't last 30 feet before they flew off with more broken links. So disappointed. I will definitely be calling E trailer first thing Monday to complain. Again, did not last 30 feet! Cost w/ tensioners close to $200! Garbage.

Comments
These particular chains are meant for use on a passenger vehicle on paved roads. To ensure the smoothest ride possible the chain links are relatively small. Inflating the tire while the chain was in place is a great idea in theory, but its a practice Titan chain doesnt recommend as it can actually weaken the chains because of the huge amount of outward pressure placed on the chain by the expanding tire.

Last year, I ordered a set of Titan Diamond Alloy Tire Chains. while I have yet to actually use them in snow conditions, I tried them on the vehicle multiple times to assure they fit and that I new how to install them at a moments notice. The chains went on without any issues. They are clearly solidly built. the sizing was accurate. Etrailor made it a seamless process with ordering assistance and shipping as promised. A+ rating from me on both the service and the product. I would certainly recommend without hesitation.

I have only used them a couple times. They got me through some pretty deep snow that I was unable to get through without them. They are pretty easy to put on, I would say they took around 20 minutes to do 4 tires. I installed them then drove about 100 feet and retightened them and they stayed tight for the rest of my trip. I have 285 65 r18 tires and these are slightly to big I just had to hook up the bungee differently and they worked fine.

Easy to put on, even in the snow. Good fit for my stock tires (20 inch wheels) on my 2014 Ram. Provided the added traction I needed and no slapping against the fender. There is a pretty noticeable rumble at lower speeds but this was expected and I take nothing away from the rating for that.

  • Are Titan Tire Chains Durable
Tire chains experience quite a bit of abuse when you consider how they are used but the Titan chains like the part # TC2533 are a great value that our customers love. Especially at their price point. It's tough to beat them based on what you get in terms of durability, traction and ease of install. The Thule tire chains though have a 5 year warranty which is basically unheard of in tire chains so they are very long-lasting.

  • Tire Chains for 2015 Ford F-150 XLT with Tire Size 275/55-20
The tire chains we have for your 2015 F-150's tire size 275/55-20 are shown on the linked page. The chain options include both special low-profile S-Class type chains like # TC2327 as well as standard-class chains like # TC2533 that need more clearance to avoid contact with vehicle parts. It is always best to check your vehicle owner's manual before installing chains to ensure the auto maker allows their use. Some vehicles can use chains only on one axle or the other, and/or on only...

  • Should Snow Chains be On Front and Rear Axle of 2015 Ford F-150
The Titan Tire Chains part # TC2533 are a fit for the tire size you have of 275/65R18 on your 2015 Ford F-150. Ideally you run a set of chains on the front and back axle so that you get max traction for braking, accelerating and turning. If you only installed one set of chains you'd have to use them on the rear axle of your truck since it's the primary drive axle. Some people get away with just one set of chains on the rear, but if at all possible I'd recommend you get a set for both axles.

  • Tire Chain for Size 265/75-16 and 285/75-16
I wish we had a set of tire chains that fit both of the tire sizes you mentioned of 265/75-16 and 285/75-16 but none of the chain options we carry fit both sizes. Tire chain fits are really specific so it's hard to really ever be able to buy one set that's going to fit multiple vehicles. You'd need a set like the part # TC2326 for the 265 size and the # TC2533 for the 285 size. This style of diamond pattern chain will do really well in the ice. The square links will break up the ice...

  • Will Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains Contact Wheel on Size 275/70-18 Tires
Where the chains will sit in relation to the wheel depends on the tire width and sidewall height. We have not test fit the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 to know if the chains will touch the wheel or not. I spoke with my contact at Titan Chain and he told me that the chains are 17 inches wide. Based on the section width and aspect ratio of your tire, in theory the chain would not touch your wheel. However the only way to be sure where the chains will sit is to test fit...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 with 275/60R20 Tires
First thing you need to check is the owners manual of your 2011 Dodge Ram to determine if there are any restrictions on snow chain usage. If you can use them I would recommend the Titan Chain Tire Chains # TC2533. This is a great chain at a great price that will give you excellent traction in the snow and will be pretty easy to install. Check out the review video and FAQ article I attached on snow chains. A manual tensioned chain doesn't have any features built into the chain that...

  • Are There Snow Tire Chains Compatible with Both 275/60-20 and 285/75-16 Tire Sizes?
The chains for 285x75-16 tires will be quite a bit smaller than the 275/60-20 chains. The 285/75-16 tires will be 32.8 inches diameter with 11.2 inch width and 8.4 inch sidewall. The 275/60-20 tires will be 33 inches diameter with 10.8 inch width and 6.5 inch sidewall. We do not have any chains that fit both these sizes. I recommend the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners - Square Link - Reversible - 1 Pair # PWE2228SC for better traction or the Glacier V-Trac Cable...

  • Budget Tire Chain Recommendation for a 275/55R20 Tire
Actually all three of the chains you mentioned are slightly different. The # PWPLC1142 is a square link, the # PWH3227SC is a twist-link and the # TC2828CAM is a V-bar link. The square link will be great in the ice since they have sharper edges, the twist-link will do better in snow and will be somewhat smoother since the links aren't quite as tall and lay flatter. The V-bar setup is also great for ice, but they tend to not last very long. For a budget set of chains that will work...
