Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

I got the chains and tired them on tonight and they seem big. With the tension all the way tight there was still slop in the chain system. It definitely seems like they could tighten more. The instructions show a few inches of available tension when the chains are on plus I had to loop the bungee cord around another section of chain to get any tightness. It just does not seem like the proper fit and may cause issue when in use. Is there a smaller size or another tire chain that would better fit a 275/65R18 tire??? 595794

Comments
It does not look like the chains are too large for the tire. I recommend Rubber Tire Chain Adjusters par t# TCMA2 to tighten up the fit.

Shipping was extremely fast. I ordered around 4pm, and it shipped out that night and arrived a couple days later which was great. All i have done so far is test fit the chains and they went on easier than i expected. The fit was great on 275/60 20. If i actually need to use them and can edit this i will post back. 461491

After reviewing tech info and reviews I purchased Titan Alloy Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link part TC2533 for the 2018 Ram 2500. These are regular duty and a good fit. These chains offer a lot more clearance for the P-Brake cable. They are a cleaver design, have great carrying case and are fairly quick to install. I have not purchased winter tires for this vehicle so the Ram need chains to pull a travel trailer up and down our snow-covered road. 933319

These chains are easy ro install, are low profile so can be used on the ford superdutys, come in a nice storage case. I used these chains in icy packed snow where the tiers just spin and would not move, installed chains and went on my way with in 30 minutes. 922141

Fast ship! I needed chains in the event of an early snow in the mountains during an elk hunt. Shipment arrived in time, and while I haven't had to use them (yet), they came in a semi-soft sided carrier that is easy to store and put in my truck for use when needed. Great price and great service. 904118

Solid materials overall. I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars however because the single bungee tensioning is not sufficient. It was a pain to stop every 10 minutes to try to re-tighten or otherwise modify. I had need of them last fall during a high country hunt. Snow started dumping on us. The chains were at first put on to extract my truck from a jam, but I left them on due to the quickly deteriorating conditions. During use, the chains were still loose enough that they banged against mud flaps. I had stop often to tighten or adjust. Eventually I used accessory cord I had along to lace up the chains even tighter. That worked for a while. The last resort was to use my knife to drill a hole in my mud flaps and tie them backwards onto the cargo carrier on my hitch. They did the job, but what an awful nuisance! 759023

Ordered on Friday, delivered on Monday(!), they look great, nice travel bag to store the chains, I have not used them yet, but all other reviews helped in my decision to order them. Here in the Colorado mountains, we sometimes get very deep snow, these chains should be very helpful in getting out of stuck areas (I wish I would have had them on Jan. 8, 2019, the Forest Service pulled me out with a D9 cat), I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel with 275/70R18 M&S rated Goodyear Kevlar tires. Last year, I ordered a set of Titan Diamond Alloy Tire Chains. while I have yet to actually use them in snow conditions, I tried them on the vehicle multiple times to assure they fit and that I new how to install them at a moments notice. The chains went on without any issues. They are clearly solidly built. the sizing was accurate. Etrailor made it a seamless process with ordering assistance and shipping as promised. A+ rating from me on both the service and the product. I would certainly recommend without hesitation. 732679

Used them on ice and snow this hunting and they were great. No slipping and great traction. The actual install was more difficult cause I installed them on a gravel and leave covered driveway instead of on pavement shown in the online video. Would recommend them highly!! 732543

I use these for out on the frozen lakes. I recommend installing on shore or ice road while on a hard surface. Relatively easy to install on tire when on firm packed snow or ice. They do require some finesse to get tight on the tire after install. My tires are 285/70/17 on a Ram Rebel. I recommend adding the rubber stretch retainers to help keep them tight. 730122

Easy to put on, even in the snow. Good fit for my stock tires (20 inch wheels) on my 2014 Ram. Provided the added traction I needed and no slapping against the fender. There is a pretty noticeable rumble at lower speeds but this was expected and I take nothing away from the rating for that. 729366

  • Recommended Tire Chains For Mud and Snow In Colorado
I have another option but the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 you were looking at will not be the best option for mud due to the use of cams that often come loose when driving on harsh terrain or mud, which is why they are listed as on road only. The option I recommend is the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base and Dual Tires # TC3229 which has a manual adjustment that does not use cam's that often come loose while driving on harsh terrain and is rated for on and...

  • Are Ladder or Diamond Style Chains Better for Deep Snow
