Bar-Style Friction Sway Control
Create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.
Selecting a Weight Distribution System
The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.
To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.
Forged Steel Spring Bars
The round spring bars are made from forged steel, giving them a distinct advantage over typical cast steel bars. Forging is a process where thermal and mechanical energy are applied to the steel, resulting in a finished product that is more resilient to impacts and is stronger in terms of shear strength. Simply put, these spring bars do a superior job of helping to hold your trailer in line because of their added strength and durability.
Built-In Grease Zerks
The system's head features 2 built-in grease zerks so that you can easily lubricate the spring bars without having to remove them from the head assembly. The grease zerks are located on each of the shafts that encase the spring bars. Simply use a grease gun (sold separately) to inject grease into each of the zerks.

We haul horses all around the country. Our truck has a slide in camper in the bed which requires us to use a 48" extension and w weight distribution system. The Curt system was east to install, has better tolerances than others we have used. Excellent value, we would buy it again without hesitation1435668

For the amount of money these are, I had to use shims to keep the ball portion from wobbling in the drop down side of the hitch very disappointed and annoying every time I have to slide the ball around1426179

Great hitch for a great price very easy to hook up and use no need to go out and buy one of those more expensive ones when this one does the same thing for less money and works great have no problem pulling a 40ft trailer with it1383886

the hitch was falling out of the box. I would normally think this is the fault of the shipper but the box had obviously been tapped back together. Im not sure if anything is missing but Im already disappointed1454729

I've waited to write his review until I could comment on both etrailer's service and the hitch's performance. First the service: I couldn't believe how quickly this 100 lb. box arrived--two days! Everything was intact and nothing was missing. The customer support of these folks is just incredible. Their prices were as low as I found anywhere, and with their quality service I bought everything I needed here.
Now the hitch. I bought the Curt C17057 WD hitch which has 1400# round bars, plus a pair of Husky friction sway bars for my 25 foot Airstream towed with a 2013 F-150 CrewCab. It's a really nice hitch/TT/TV combination. It controls sway really well, is virtually noise free and transfers weight appropriately, plus isn't nearly as heavy as the ProPride/Hensley hitches. I selected the Curt, in part, because it has grease zerks on the head, while some other candidates didn't. I couldn't be more satisfied!237091

One year later, the Curt weight distribution hitch is performing perfectly. It does a good job of transferring weight to the tow vehicle, is quiet and was relatively easy to dial in exactly for my vehicle trailer combination.I coupled it with two Husky anti-sway friction bars, although I have only installed one of them because that has proven enough for my 25 foot trailer. An Eaz-Lift Husky anti-sway bar combination was suggested for me by AndyThomson of CanAm RV, but I substituted the Curt because I liked the greasezerks on the Curt. The Curt is a really well-made unit. Id buy it again,as well as the Huskys, which Ive found to be quiet and effective.

I received the beat up but we'll taped packed with all the parts included.
I bought a new travel trailer recently. This weight distribution hitch restored my tow vehicle front axle weight to it's original unhitched weight and also to it's unhitched front axle wheel well height measurement. I also was able to load 300lbs of cargo to the front of the travel trailer and only measured a 1/2 inch of increase to the front axle wheel well height. 633552
It works well. Your videos were a big help on initial installation. I also had to put a sway bar on my camper. If I were to do it over again I would have gotten the weight distribution system that includes the sway bar functionality. I discovered that system after I purchased the the weight distribution hitch. Overall the weight distribution system works very well. If you don’t need a sway bar, I highly recommend it.1129710

It is easy to use and built well. One issue though when I originally set it up I tightened the saddle pieces to the torque recommended on the instructions. The threads started to strip. I fixed it with nuts and have used it since. I did call your company to make sure I did it right (the instructions were a little confusing on that part to me anyway). The lady I spoke to said I got it right and I did ask for a new part but decided to use it anyway with the intent to call back. This really was a little issue other then that for the price it was a great setup.824993

Staff was helpful in helping me select product and accessories I needed for my Installation. My trailer has a tool box where the load hangers needed to be. A different mount solved the problem. Both etrailer and load equalizer get 5 stars. I’m on their mailing list and they carry an extensive line of products, many that I was totally unaware of. This opens new possibilities for future purchases.
I use my truck to tow a 14,000 GVWR trailer and needed an equalizer hitch for towing heavy loads. I pulled the trailer heavily loaded for over 2000 miles while bucking 20 to 30 mph headwinds and crosswinds. It tracked like it was on rails and strong wind gusts were hardly noticeable.
etrailer also has great articles regarding towing and other products they carry. 475547

Have used the hitch quite a bit in the past year with some pretty heavy loads. It has performed flawlessly and I couldn’t be happier. Would purchase this hitch again.

I have ordered a fifth wheel and it arrived in three days just like I was told. It had all parts nothing missing and is made of good strong metal. Then a few weeks later I ordered a sway bar holder and I got it in good condition in time that I was told that it would be. etrailer is very good about getting your product to you on time1169015

Instructions were easy to follow. However, it might be good to mention having a large 1-1/4 wrench for the ball nut. Had to use a pipe wrench. Great price! Fast delivery!1263098

Fast Service at a great price. Box arrived is great shape.
Heavy duty parts for sure, almost 90 lbs.
Did not install it yet, still building shelving in the new trailer so we have not got the final load in it to adjust the spring bars. Will get back when we get the trailer loaded.221593

It has been a Year since putting this hitch in service, all is working perfectly. It did take an hour to set it up properly the first time for the height of my truck. You have the height and the tilt to get the spring bars the proper tension. All is good. Great Product at a great price.

This seems to be a nice hitch system. Appears well made. Doesn’t seem junky. It’s heavy enough to kill a guy (literally). I’m not really well rehearsed in different systems but this works quite well for what I use it for (10k equipment trailer). It went together easy (you will need massive wrenches/ratchet/sockets to snug everything up, 1 1/2”+) but handles my trailer well. I’d recommend it for the price.947547

Best hitch I've ever owned! I previously bought and used extensively a Curt 5th wheel hitch which was perfect. Both have been great performers...I tow without hitch problems or worries. 597095

I bought this to use on my Chevy 2500 HD for towing a 11,000 lbs. travel trailer with a 1300 lbs. tongue weight (dry weights). You always want to buy one rated a little higher than what you should need. I used it once so far, towing the trailer roughly 200 miles. It works perfectly keeping the trailer and truck level, just as it should. I found it very easy to assemble and use, with very clear instructions. (Hint: read completely through the instructions before you begin assembly. Bolts will not be tightened until later to allow for adjustments).449214

I was a little worried about setting up my first weight distribution hitch, but the instructions were clear and useful. I did have to give it a couple of tried to get the height right, but I worked out well. Would definitely recommend. And free shipping?!?!?! Sheesh, this thing is heavy. I'll definitely order from etrailer again,948254

Purchasing this product from e-trailer was very professional and pleasant. The product was shipped out in a very timely manner at a very minimal expense and arrived at my door as stated it would. The price was unbeatable for the product and is a very good quality weight distribution hitch. All parts were there with instructions how to install. I would recommend anyone looking for trailer parts to go to e-trailer for their next purchase. 287921

Fair price works well my 13.5 k trailer doesn't sag at all might want to consider a stabilizer/ sway control I notice on a windy highway I get alittle drift my trailer is 39 feet long wich may be a factor too973511

Very pleased with the order. The weight distribution package a bit for wear. I realize the weight is a factor, which contributes to the slight marring and scratching of parts, totally acceptable. The installation instructions were mutilated. Thats ok by me as I already know the product. Maybe placing it between 2 pieces of cardboard would help.

What you will want to do is check out the label that is on the trailer hitch of your 2009 Chevy Suburban. It will have the tongue weight capacity of the hitch stated there when used with a weight distribution system and without it.
Most likely there will be a second higher rating for if you do use a WD system. You should note that the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle needs to be considered as tongue weight as well.

I checked with Curt and there isn't a difference between the Curt Weight Distribution systems part # C17007 and # C17057 that you referenced. Either part number will be for the same system.
It's hard to say exactly what angle will cause problems for a WD when backing up, so the best recommendation I can make would be that if the trailer is being backed up mainly in a straight line you would be fine. But otherwise, I would recommend removing the spring bars. view full answer...
The spring bars of the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057 that you referenced are 31.67 inches in length. The lift brackets on this system should be located a minimum of 33 inches from the center of the hitch ball. view full answer...
The Curt weight distribution system part # C17057 that you referenced is designed to fit a 2 inch trailer hitch like what you have at the rear of your 2013 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed. That doesn't necessarily mean your vehicle is going to safely be able to tow a trailer with that much weight though. You'll need to check your owners manual or with a Ford dealer to find out what your towing capacities are. view full answer...
Having your transmission in OD (overdrive) would be fine when towing a trailer with your 2017 Toyota 4Runner TRD. If you were in a super hilly area and you noticed the transmission shifting up and down a lot it would be a smart idea just to leave it in D (drive) so that it wouldn't be shifting as much. Most normal towing situations where you are under the capacity of the vehicle wouldn't require that though. From what I found online though it looks like your vehicle has a 5,000 lb capacity. view full answer...
According to the installation instructions for the Pro Series 49902, once the weight distribution system is installed and properly set up, the front wheel well or fender height should be equal or less than what it was before the trailer was hitched up and the weight distribution system spring bars were hooked up. Since your 'after' wheel well or fender height was 1/8 of an inch less than what it was before and you've only settled 3/4 of an inch at the rear fender, I'd say you've got it... view full answer...
The distance between the center of the pinhole and the center of the ball mount of the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057 is a minimum 11-1/2 and a maximum of 13 inches. This is because this part can move slightly due to the tilt range of the system.
If you need a ball to go along with the MV, you will need a hitch ball that has a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank. I went ahead and attached our product page that has all of the balls we carry that have a diameter of that measurement. view full answer...
Curt does not specify bracket placement for MV Weight Distribution System # C17057. But we have found that the distance from the center of the hitch ball to the center of the frame hanger will be approximately 31 inches. I have linked a video review of this system for you.
The system comes with every thing except for a ball. For a compatible 2-5/16 inch ball you can use # 19286. view full answer...
The primary weight distribution scenario where you'll need to be very careful about backing the trailer is if you were using a friction sway control unit like part # 83660. Because jackknifing the trailer would damage the unit, it's recommended that a frictions sway control unit be disabled or better yet removed from the trailer while backing. Any W/D system can be damaged if you should jackknife, but the friction unit is the most susceptible.
If you're not using a friction sway control... view full answer...

The spring bars used in weight distribution systems will work over a range of tongue weights.
The Curt # C17057 round bar weight distribution system has a maximum capacity of 14,000 gross trailer weight/1400 lbs tongue weight. That's the maximum, but the system is effective on trailers with tongue weights ranging from 1000 to 1400 lbs. In order to choose the correct system, you'll need to find the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer. You'll also need to include... view full answer...
The replacement lift bracket, part # C17008, isn't specifically rated for a weight capacity. It's a direct replacement for Curt weight distribution systems, like the MV # C17057 which is rated for 14,000 pounds so it'll handle over 12,000 pounds. As long as you have a Curt system that uses this type of bracket it'll handle the weight capacity.
If you have a different system that this isn't designed for then I don't recommend using it. Let me know which system you have and I'll see if... view full answer...
If you're just looing for a basic cost effective weight distribution system I recommend the Curt MV Weight Distribution System part # C17057 which is rated up to 1,400 lbs so there will be plenty of room for error. I have a solution for you, but the Curt MV # C17057 that you've currently got won't accept the new components you're wanting to turn your system into a short arm weight distribution hitch. For this reason, you'll need to get a completely new weight distribution hitch.
The shortest weight distribution system we have is the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 15K GTW, 1.5K TW # C17422, which has 28" long arms and is similarly rated to your # C17057.... view full answer...
The length of the spring bars on the Curt MV Weight Distribution System - Round Bar - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW # C17057 is 30-5/8 inches. These are the same bars, # C17074. We do not have this weight distribution system available without the shank. view full answer...
The Curt MV Weight Distribution System part # C17057 will only fit trailer frames up to 2-3/4" wide but you can still use this system if you swap out the clamp on brackets for bolt-on brackets, the Chain Hangers for Curt Weight Distribution Systems part # C17005. view full answer...

I have a solution for you but there is not a replacement head offered for the Blue Ox model BXW1200. The Curt MV # C17057 system and the Curt MV # C17063 system that you referenced are actually the same WD system. The only difference is that the part # C17063 comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball and a friction sway control whereas the part # C17057 doesn't come with either option. I recommend going with part # C17063 because you will need a hitch ball anyways and the sway control will help to reduce sway that you would experience from wind and passing vehicles. Please note that the sway control... view full answer...
It sounds like you need to get more drop with your Curt Weight Distribution System # C17057. If that is the case, either of the shanks you referenced would work for you. Shank # C17123 will offer your round bar system up to 8-1/2 inches of drop while shank # C17124 will give you up to 10 inches of drop.

The Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057 uses the Replacement Head for Curt MV Weight Distribution Systems # C17075. That head is compatible with the Replacement Spring Bar for Curt MV Weight Distribution System - 800 lbs TW # C17072 you referenced, so you can simply change out the spring bars for your lighter trailer. view full answer...
I can help you with both issues. What you need to allow your trailer to be towed level is a longer shank like the part # C17123 which allows for a drop of up to 8-1/2 inches which is much more than what comes with the # C17057.
Then to fit the chain hangers around the V-nose of the trailer you'd want the # C17005. These can bolt underneath the V-nose on the trailer frame in the location needed so that you can hang the chains in the right location. view full answer...
For your trailer, which has a GVWR of nearly 10,000 lbs and a 950 lb dry tongue weight, the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17051 you mentioned is well under the capacity so it would not be a good option. It is for total tongue weights up to 800 lbs so won't ride stiff, it simply won't give you any benefit at all, but we do have the right system for you.
What you need instead is the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17057.
This system is going to be perfect for your 10,000 lb... view full answer...
