by:

This 7-way upgrade kit with junction box came a mere 2 days after I ordered it, which is great. The entire connector set came nicely assembled and it has everything I need to easily connect it in place of my damaged 7-way cord & connector. This upgrade will assure easy replacement should I squish my cord with my tailgate again. All I will need to do is solder the provided connectors to my existing wire set and get 2 bolts to bolt the box to the 5th wheel hitch. This kit is very robust and is even better than I expected.

by:

Great item to replace your old trailer hook up. I did fine the almost same 7-way kit and junction box for less than etrailer charges $26.00), but the kit did not include the connectors that you can purchase for less then $5.00 at HF.

by:

Easy mount and came with labels for each color wire to match up your wires on your trailers. Recommend for anyone with a newer truck with the 7 plug.

by:

The quality of the box is amazing. I ordered another one for a different trailer and the plastic box construction is much thicker and heavy duty feeling. The other one I ordered was from Amazon

I better not find out that you're using the online jungle next time you need something for your trailer, Andrew.

This product is very nice, check the connectors inside the box to make sure everything looks great. My ground wasn’t crimped well but Joann immediately sent out another one without question getting it the next day. Great customer service! And this one was perfect.

I'm glad to hear Ashley kept you informed and was helpful to you, even though there was a delay in your order Michael. What are you hauling?

by:

Made rewiring the trailer easier with all wires going into the junction box, the trailer now has a very clean and professional appearance instead of the mess of wires that were originally on it.

by:

I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work with William for some trailer lights that I was looking to install on my existing trailer. The depth of knowledge and experience paired with the willingness and ability to explain the nuances of this project in a manner which would have the greatest benefit was true perfection. This type of customer service experience is becoming increasingly rare in our digital age. Thank sir for all of your help.

by:

Product as described and quality - note you need to purchase 2 mounting screws. I used 1/4-20 self taping metal screws and 7/64th drill bit for pilot hole.

by:

Fairly stiff cable, especially in the cold. Box is thin, flimsy ABS that cracked during install. Box has no gasket or seal of any kind to keep water out. Rubber grommets/wire pass-throughs fit loosely in their slots. lightweight ring terminals, and they're crimped on rather than soldered. Not a lot of real estate in the box to run wires. I ended up soldering the ring terminals on and covering everything with RTV sealant when I finished wiring to keep water out. It does its job, but I wouldn't buy again.

by:

This really helped keep all the wiring from electric brakes, interior lights, trailer lights, and breakaway switch in order. It would have been a mess with out it. I thought the 7 foot cord might be too long but its not at all.

by:

I loved the whole process of installing this product. Having an electrical box for all the wires makes connecting them super easy, plus If I ever want to add a wire to run something else it would take me 5 minutes to install. I couldn’t recommend this product more.

by:

That thing is the best thing since sliced bread. If you're going to rewire a trailer, this is the only way to go.

by:

Wow, this connector was built with heavy duty in mind.

Hi Dale, I'm glad you can tell the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit was built to withstand the elements.

have not installed the junction box yet as it is 1 degree outside here in pa but i am sure it will work as it should thanks e-trailer

by:

A upgrade for my utility trailer

by:

Great products. Etrailer's product videos are so helpful!

by:

Heavy duty cable, and a pretty decent b ox.

by:

Just what I needed to rewire the trailer after mice ate the wires!

by:

Wiring was'nt correct for starters on Cargo Trailer:
I asked for 7 way Traditional Junction box not 7 way standard. Was told by 2 employees this box was the one . Well it worked but I had to move my trailer wires from Brown to Red, Red to Yellow, Green to Brown and Yellow to Red. Thats not what I had in mind .
The unit does not come with gasket either to help protect wiring from water and dirt so had to use silicone . Not a big deal but cover isn't reversable so it will be upside down on left of trailer see pics . With that said it looks a lot better than the rats nest I had before just wished was truly what I asked for and a little better built. Overall customer service has always been polite and thats why I keep shopping E-Trailer.

Hey Oran. Sorry there was miscommunication along the way. We usually always tell our neighbors that you would want to match up by function instead of color for color. It's pretty common for trailer manufacturers to not follow the color for color rule.

by:

Very well made and easy to install.

by:

Excellent Products & Service! Arrived sooner than expected. Etrailer is our go to for our wiring needs.

Not impressed. Same Chinese crap on (another site) but for half the price.

  • Can Hydraulic Brakes of Demco Tow Dolly be Converted to Electric Brakes
Since Demco uses 3,500 drum brake assemblies part # DMSB24429M and # DMSB24428M what you'd need is similar 3,500 electric brake assemblies like the etrailer part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left hand side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right hand side. To wire these up you'd just need 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. Then to add a 7-way the easiest way to do that is with the 7-way junction box # e99011.

  • Solution For 7-Way Cord That Becomes Rigin In The Cold Weather
Hey Bob, great question. It was about 7 degrees here in Missouri this morning, so I can relate to the cold. I do have a good solution for this too. What I would do is replace your current 7-way cord with the Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ. This cord is made from a flexible thermoplastic which will not become rigid in the extreme cold. It feels a bit more like soft rubber than hard plastic, even in temps as low as 40 below.
