Can Black Wire of etrailer Junction box e99011 be Used to Charge RV Battery
Updated 05/26/2026 | Published 05/23/2026 >
Question:
I bought etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector Part Number: e99011. My question is if I run a wire from the black post to the positive terminal on my trailer winch battery to keep it maintained is there any cons to doing this? Would I need to un hook the wire to operate the winch to avoid draining my truck battery and or damaging the trucks wiring harness? Thanks

Hey Tim, what you described is a very common thing to do with the black wire post of the etrailer junction box part # e99011 that you referenced. The winch will still draw most of it's power from the battery when operating and would not put a significant enough of a draw on the black wire to harm anything so you wouldn't need to add a switch or anything.

Thanks Jameson. That's what I was thinking but wanted another opinion.
