Built-In Battery Charger and Tester

The integrated charger keeps the included battery charged and ready to go. At any time, if you would like to see what the state of the rechargeable battery is, just push the green button and LEDs will light up to indicate the battery's status. If it's green, it means the battery is fully charged. Yellow shows it's currently charging, and red indicates a low battery.

Quick Tips:

  • When you store your trailer, be sure to keep the pin plugged into the breakaway switch. If the pin's removed for an extended period of time, dirt and moisture can get into the switch and cause corrosion that could keep it from activating when you need it.
  • A breakaway system needs to be able to apply the trailer brakes fully for at least 15 minutes. In general, the heavier your trailer, the higher amperage battery you'll need for the breakaway.

I purchased this product a year ago and found to it to as advertised. I have only used my trailer a couple of times in the past year, so I can't really speak to how it will hold up, but it seems to be a quality product.

by:

The kit includes all the necessary components to get the emergency brakes working.

by:

This would have been perfect if it would have fit in where the like one was being replaced. It requires new holes to be drilled and all of the splicing is external to the box requiring additional equipment to protect the spicing

by:

as listed on website easy install

by:

Product looks well made and installed with just one hitch. If you follow instructions and try to connect the 2 wires, one from the breakaway switch and one from the push to test panel using the supplied connector to the positive post of the battery, you can't close the lid of the battery box properly . It hits the electronics on the inside of the lid. You need to do your own splice ( 2 wires into 1 onto the + post . Not a big deal, but certainly a slight screw up by the manufacture.

by:

I buy from etrailer quite a bit. They always deliver fast, the products are awesome and priced fairly. Just installed the Curt breakaway system. It works great. Thanks etrailer!

by:

heavy duty box , extra material in the mounting are ( other box from a different supplier I had this was weak point & broke mounting ears off not purchased off this site ) - comes fully charge - this should last a long time . This is an important safety item , should not be
over looked . I lost my trailer with no break away it jammed underneath my truck - it was ugly !!

by:

Unit push to test button quit working shortly after installation. Doesn’t seem to be high quality as it doesn’t seem to be holding up sitting in the weather.

by:

This is a no brainer if you haul heavy equipment. Easy to install and works like a champ.

by:

FAST SHIPPING GOOD QULAITY

  • Will Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit Work With Triple Axle Kaufmann Trailer
Hi Eric; the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger # C52044 will work for your triple axle Kaufmann trailer. This is designed for 1 to 3 axle trailers with electric brakes so triple axle isn't a problem. As long as you have 12V power running to the connector the built-in charger will do a fine job. It also prevents overcharging so it won't damage the battery in storage.

The Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2K Axles # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K includes the 1" inner diameter Bearings # L44643. The Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K includes the 1-1/16" inner diameter Bearings # L44649. To determine which ones will fit your axle you will need to remove the grease cap and spindle nut to find the number on the outer bearing. • Will Trailer Breakaway Battery Charge Auxiliary Battery
So it sounds like you are trying to use the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger # C52044 to charge an auxiliary battery on your enclosed trailer to power lights, and it makes sense that this would not work. This kit is only designed for breakaway batteries, and has a small 5-amp hour battery capacity, which is probably dead, as I'm guessing you are not seeing any LED indicators (either red or green) illuminated. For everybody's safety, breakaway kits -...

  • Troubleshooting 2002 F-250 Towing Horse Trailer with Working Exterior Lights but No Interior Lights
It sounds like the interior lights on your trailer are powered through the 12 volt circuit on your Ford's 7-way. So, start by testing to make sure that pin is active. On a standard RV style 7-way, this is located at the 1 o'clock position. I've attached a diagram for visual reference. Using a tester like # PK12741 would be the easiest. You could also simply have a case of corrosion on/in the connectors that is preventing the +12V auxiliary power from reaching the trailer. If this is the...

  • Help Wiring Up the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger
In regards to the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger part # C52044, the wires from the breakaway switch are not polarity specific. In other words, it does not matter which wire you attach to which circuit so long as one is attached to the blue wire from the battery box and the other to the brake output circuit between the trailer brakes and trailer connector. The other wires from the battery box are white and red, the white goes to ground and the red wire...

  • Can Breakaway Battery Kit Work as a Power Source Dedicated Only to Interior Enclosed Trailer Lights
Hey Mark, great question! As long as the Bright Way # 3802308 or Curt # C52044 breakaway kit isn't connected to trailer brakes (which it sounds like it wouldn't be in your case), then you can use it as a battery bank for your interior lights, yes.

To add electric brakes to your Karavan US-2200-74-ST boat trailer, where Karavan has specified L44649 as the outside bearing and L68149 as the inside bearing, you will need the following parts. You can use the etrailer # AKEBRK-35-SA Electric Brake Kit including left and right assemblies. Add nuts and lock washers with part # BRKH10B. • Does a Trailer Need a Battery for the Brakes to Work
No, you do not need to have an auxiliary battery on the trailer in order for the brakes to work. The brakes are powered by a brake controller like part # C74VV which draws power from the tow vehicle's battery, not the trailer's battery. You will however need a battery on the trailer to activate the breakaway which is required by law in most states however, this battery is very small and is included with most kits like the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit part # C52044. If you need...

  • Parts Needed To Add Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes To Triple Axle Toy Hauler
I would be happy to help! The only triple axle disc brake kits currently offered all have 1/2" wheel studs so we will need to piece a kit together for you. I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 7,000 lbs # K2HR79E which will fit the 7000lb Dexter axles you have, and gives you the 9/16" studs you mentioned. • What 3-Axle Breakaway Kit Comes with a Test Feature and a Charger?
Yes! The only model we carry that is compatible with a 3-axle trailer and has a test light/charger on the battery case is the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger - Top Load # C52044. I went ahead and attached a demo video that walks you through the features. It is important to note that you need to have a brake controller that works specifically with electric over hydraulic brakes in order for this breakaway to be compatible with your setup.

  • Recommended Charger for Breakaway Kit Battery When Storing for Long Periods of Time
If your trailer won't be getting used very often, it is wise to use a maintainer charger on your trailer battery and breakaway battery to keep them in good working order. I recommend using a battery charger like the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5 so it will maintain your battery. This will make it so you can simply plug it in when storing it and you can be sure it will work well when you are ready to tow.
