When you’re hauling serious weight, you need a hub and drum setup that can take it. This Dexter hub-and-drum assembly is made for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb axles and uses the proven #42 spindle design. With a 12" diameter x 2" wide drum and an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, it’s sturdy, dependable, and ready for electric or hydraulic drum brakes. Each hub carries a 3,500-lb weight capacity, giving you confidence under load.
Skip the messy job of hand-packing bearings. This hub comes pre-greased and ready to mount, saving time and keeping things clean. The inner bearing (25580) and outer bearing (14125A) are already seated with matching races (25520 and 14276), plus a GS-2250DL grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts all come included. Just slide it onto your #42 spindle and you’re ready to roll.
Durability matters when you’re towing heavy. The hub and drum are built from strong iron for lasting performance, and the 9/16" diameter wheel studs hold up under repeated torque cycles. The grease cap flange measures 2.72", and the design matches the performance of genuine Dexter hardware, so everything fits and functions like it should.
This hub and drum pair is made to work with 12" brake assemblies, giving your trailer a smooth, even stop every time. Whether you use electric or hydraulic brakes, the machined braking surface ensures strong, consistent shoe contact. For those keeping a spare on hand, it’s compact enough to travel easily and makes roadside hub swaps go faster when time matters most.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"
