Brand Part Number
Chicago Rawhide/SKF 17144
Dexter 010-019-00, 10-19
Lippert --
National/Timken 473336
NOK AD2548E0
Transcom 171255TB

How to Measure for a Replacement Seal

Measuring a spindle

Use a digital caliper and measure to the nearest thousandth of an inch.

  • Seal I.D.: Measure the diameter of the spindle at the grease seal seat (B), where the seal rides.
  • Seal O.D.: Remove the old seal and measure the inside diameter of the hub bore where the seal presses into the hub.

Measure each location in a few spots to check for wear or an out-of-round surface. Match both measurements to the replacement seal.

DL-172-03 AxleTek Double Lip Grease Seal 1.719" Inner Diameter / 2.565" Outer Diameter - 3,500-lb axles with No. 84 Spindles - EZ Lube Compatible

Same as 158800, GS-1719DL, 10-19, and 171255

Fred will be happy to hear that everything is back up and running, Ralph! Have you gotten the boat in the water yet?

As always the right product and shipped in a timely manner.
Couldn't ask for more from an online company.

The video on the product page was perfect for my application.
It literally walked me through the whole process, which was a first-time project for me.

by:

Fast shipping, great product.

by:

Packing person just threw it in the box with a hub/rotor and completely ruined it getting slammed around with the hub/rotor. It marred the outside rim and bent it out of round.

by:

Easy to install. Fit standard Dexter axle. Decent for the money,

by:

Recently bought an antique boat in Wisconsin and towed it to St. Louis. I knew the trailer tires were more than 20 years old. So when I went to get the boat on its trailer, I took new tires, mounted on new wheels, purchased from ettrailer. I checked wheel bearing temperatures during the trip -- after greasing them via Bearing Buddies. Made the trip OK, but have now cleaned and packed the bearings on both wheels. Of course, I needed two new seals. I really like shopping at etrailer. Saves me time and the website is full of helpful, valuable info.

by:

Such a good company to work with. Quick service and so much help when you’re doing your axles. Would recommend any day.

by:

I received my order on time and packaged to prevent damage. It is a double lip seal for marine use and appears to be of good quality. It was reasonably priced. I am completely satisfied with my order.

by:

the detailed photo and description of the part helped me get the exact part, fast shipping thanks

by:

This was a direct replacement for my trailer hub. It is the same brand as the original equipment.
It arrived ahead of schedule and was easy to install. etrailer also had how to videos to help with installation.

by:

Couldn't ask for better service, information and delivery tracking! Stacey knew exactly what I needed to get these bearings on a Dexter 4400lb axle repacked!

by:

They knew exactly what I needed. The part fit perfectly. I almost think the best part of ordering from e-trailer is talking with the customer service people. I enjoy talking with people who are good at their jobs and are eager to make sure the customer is satisfied. Well done, e-trailer!

by:

Hard to find part was easy on Etrailer, but shipping took a long time.

by:

Received the best help with Kaitlynn. She helped find the correct product I was looking for and shipped. I will definitely use etrailer again.

by:

Factory replacements worked out perfectly. Install was easy and good quality.

by:

So far, a perfect replacement for my old 3500 lb axle hubs.

  • Replacement Hub, Bearings, and Grease Seal for 3,500 lb Dexter Axle
You are correct that is a 3,500 lb axle. If you want a bearing kit the # BK2-100 you looked at is the right one. This comes with a # L44649 outer and # L68149 inner bearing along with a # 58846 (10-19) grease seal. If you want a replacement idler hub you can use the # AKIHUB-655-35-K or for a hub and drum assembly the # AKHD-655-35-K. Both of these have a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern.

  • Replacement Grease Seal for 3,500 lb Dexter Axle on Forest River Trailer
Thank you for reaching out! What is the weight rating of your axle? Unless it's a really old axle I should be able to make a recommendation based off of that. The Dexter Axle part number you sent in normally doesn't pull anything up on their system (although I'm not sure why) so I would need the serial number and/or a photo of the sticker in the middle of the axle for me to get any info from Dexter Axle.

I sure can Mark and thanks for the information! The Dexter 3,900 lb torsion axles use the same bearings as 3,500 lb axles. Which means the correct replacement bearing kit is the item # BK2-100 you were looking at. You'll need one set per hub. Your axle uses a 10-19 grease seal which would be item # 58846. • How To Find Correct Replacement Bearings and Hub for Outback Trailer with AL-KO Axles
I have a few options for you to help with identifying the bearings on your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the bearings based off industry standards. For example, a 3,500 lb axle uses L68149 and L44649 bearings like what comes with the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and Al-Ko Axles part # BK2-100 or the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly...

  • Wire Size Butt Connectors is Needed to Connect Wiring for Electric Trailer Brakes
Electric brakes, like part # 23-26-27, use 16 gauge wiring. However, we generally recommend using 10 gauge, like part # 10-2-1, to connect to the brakes because of how far the wiring generally has to be run. So you need to use butt connectors large enough for the 10 gauge wire, like part # DW05745-5. They'll still be able to be crimped down onto the smaller 16 gauge as well, especially since they're heat shrink. Between the two grease seals, parts # 58846 and # RG06-050, we prefer our...
