Flexible Rubber Brake Hoses

Kodiak brake hoses are made of rubber, making them a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend them, rubber hoses are simpler to work with than rigid stainless steel brake lines. This flexibility makes rubber hoses great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because they are less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of these hoses is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on these hoses is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

This break line kit was ordered with the kodiak disc brake add on kit for my boat trailer. Also added a new surge brake actuator. This setup works great! The fit could not have been any better and easy to install yourself! All the lines were the perfect length. I live in the mountains and these brakes have been awesome! Less wear and tear on my 4runner brake system pulling a 3400 lb. boat! Would definitely recommend these brakes, lines, and actuator! E trailer was great with my questions on what to buy and installation! Thanks Etrailer!

by:

1 Year ago I purchased a new Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line kit. Installation was easy (just a couple hours). I did have a leak in one of the connectors at the Tee, and eTrailer was very helpful in replacing the Tee and the effected line at no additional charge, which I greatly appreciated! One year later, the system is running perfectly with no runs, drips or errors. Mine is a double axle trailer with brakes only on one axle. Boat is a Catalina 22, total weight around 3500 lbs. I drive a Ford Ranger through the mountains of NH with no issues, and hardly notice the trailer is even there when braking. Very happy customer!

by:

Pretty good so far. After 2 years, not a single issue. Just a rash rust from water. But WD40 or other oils That I use helps preventing excessive rust.

A little over a year. Parts seem like new. Price was fair and the delivery was good and convenient.

by:

It good quality and definitely will buy it again. Good customer service if needed.

Thank you

Set came complete and ready to install. Having never done this before, I found the process very straight forward. I chose not to drill holes in my frame, but the supplied holders would have been perfect for that use. Very satisfied.

by:

I ordered this kit to replace my boat trailer brake lines that have aged. I was unable to find flexible lines locally. The hoses appear to be very well made. The double flared ends are not only stainless, but low carbon stainless because there is no attraction to a magnet. The mfg date is also printed on each hose, so you can be sure you are not getting hoses that have been setting on a shelf for years. It was shipped quickly and arrived quickly even with economy shipping. George kept me informed of the package progress and sent a followup email when notification was received that it had been delivered.

Hey Lee! I'm happy to hear! When do you get to launch your boat into the water for the season?

by:

Nice set of replacement brake hoses. A must have to any trailer with hydraulic brakes.

by:

I received my parts in a timely manner and they look like they will all work well for what I need them for. I will definitely order again.

by:

Easy install. Would recommend a bleeding kit to properly bleed brake lines.

by:

Got this email that said my stuff was delivered but the disc brakes haven't made it yet. Excited but not totally.

by:

Here are my pics of my trailer brake system refurbishment.

by:

I purchased the product after research of what I needed for my boat trailer. There product was great quality, great fitting and I couldn't be happier.

by:

Very easy to install. I went from no brakes to great breaks. The only thing I had to do was add a brake flange to my all aluminum axle. I made the flanges from 1/4 6x6 aluminum plates. Then took my axle off the trailer. I assembled the hubs and disc on the axle. This put everything inline for welding. Then took it to a weld shop and had the franges welded to the axle. Put it back on trailer hooked up the brake line. Blead the lines and all good.

After a year I have many trips on my new brake setup. Still works well.

by:

I am reviewing the components and etrailer as they are not installed yet. Online ordering was easy - I was contacted immediately with shipping time and tracking numbers - it all went really well. The components showed up on time and in good condition. The boxes were a little hammered but UPS does that. Thanks etrailer good service - good prices: what else do you want?

Really well! If one uses some kind of salt rinse the components remain free of corrosion and looking good. Everything assembled as it should and worked flawless from the start. The brakes are rock solid and do a great job of stopping my 3800# boat and trailer. I use the Dexter ElectHyd unit with the Direct link brake controller and it performs beyond my expectations...

by:

Got me all the parts that I needed and very helpful.

by:

Everything is working great. All hoses and connections were the exact lengths needed. Now I have good brakes on my trailer.

by:

The Installation was easy. Everything fit perfectly and the brakes are working well. I only wish I had made the conversion from drum brakes years earlier.

Still great - no problems

by:

I own a 25-year-old dual axle flatbed trailer that I use to haul a car behind my motorhome. It had surge brakes when I purchased it. Perhaps not unexpected, the brakes and the actuator rusted and needed to be replaced. The website of etrailer provided exactly the solution I needed; actuators, brake assemblies and hydraulic lines. Each were as advertised and the replacement was straightforward. I anticipate that I am in a good place for another 25 years of service from this trailer. I recommend etrailer without reservation.

by:

The brake lines arrived in a timely manner. They are robust in construction and fit together easily. I am very pleased with Etrailer and will remain a loyal customer!

I sold the trailer after rebuilding it cause I ended up selling my boat without the trailer. The fellow that bought it said the brakes were fine for the trip home but he never put his boat on the trailer. So I can’t really say anything else about the product.

by:

Well, I’m pretty sure the consensus here would be to totally replace this Titan model 60 brake master cylinder that is in a friend’s boat trailer. I already ordered the new master cylinder from etrailer and about to install it. This old master cylinder is nothing more than a lack of proper maintenance. As a result, I am replacing EVERYTHING from this point and back to the calipers, including NEW CALIPERS and NEW BRAKE LINES . Proper maintenance would have totally alleviated this issue (and it is not my friend’s fault whatsoever because he just recently purchased this boat and trailer). I will post a pic of the install once finished. God Bless.

by:

Great company to do business with. They always have everything we need for our business and their shipping quickness is fantastic, usually get our order within 2 days

by:

Works great

by:

I was replacing steel brake lines that rusted and fell apart. These flexible brakes lines were very easy to run and the connections made it easy to install.

by:

So far been great in a harsh saltwater environment. I just rinse with freshwater after every trip

For as trashed as those brake assemblies are I am impressed with how spotless that spindle is! Based on the bearing numbers you mentioned you have a #84 spindle and the hub part # AKHD-545-35-G-K is correct. Since this its galvanized it's a really great option as it will fight corrosion. The flexible brake line kits like the part # 18SI-BLKIT is what I would go with. They are just as durable as anything else and a lot easier to install. • Replacement Timbren Axle-Less System and Hydraulic Brake Assembly for 3,500 lb Axles on Boat Trailer
I would love to help you upgrade your suspension components! I am guessing that you have 3,500 lb axles on your trailer but if you could verify that it would help me to make sure that I recommend the correct parts for you. Also, are you looking to add brakes to both axles or just keep them on one pair? You would get more braking power and less wear with brakes on all of the axles but if you only want them on one then that will also play into the parts.
