Superior Corrosion Resistance for Marine Use

This trailer hub assembly is constructed of corrosion-resistant, rustproof stainless steel. It's superior construction makes it the best choice for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. Stainless steel is durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can withstand saltwater applications as well. Even after extended use in saltwater, it shows little to no rust or corrosion.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Kodiak Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub - KH84545S Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Kodiak stainless steel five on four and a half inch trailer hub for thirty-five hundred pound axles. Now, this is a rust-proof stainless steel hub, which is ideal for extended marine use. This marine-grade trailer hub assembly can be used on an idler 00:00:15 axle, or it can be paired with a ten-inch slip-on rotor for this brake 00:00:18 applications. It is a stainless steel construction, which is very durable, rust-proof, and low-maintenance. Again, it's ideal for use on a boat or a snowmobile trailer, and it is great for saltwater applications. The wheel studs right here are long enough to accommodate an over-the-hub brake rotor, or a custom wheel that has a thick mounting face. Now, the bearing races are pre-installed. You can see the outer bearing race right here, and the inner bearing race right in here.

The inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, the grease cap, they are all sold separately. We do list them on our website as a related product, and we, on the product page of this part number, we also list the correct part numbers that are needed for this hub. Again, the spec on this, the application is for thirty-five-hundred pound trailer axles with the number eight-four spindle. The bow pattern on this is a five on four and a half bow pattern. The hub diameter from this side to this side is six inches. The wheel stud size is a half-inch diameter by two inches long, and it does use the half inch by twenty size lugnuts.

The weight capacity on this hub is one thousand, seven hundred and fifty pounds, so when this is paired with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet the thirty five hundred pound weight capacity of the axle. That should do it for the review on the Kodiak stainless steel five on four and a half inch trailer hub for thirty five hundred pound axles.

great hubs I have them on a snowmobile trailer. Stainless steel is a must on a snowmobile trailer. It's disappointing trailer manufacturers don't think, and use cheap quality parts on trailers that run in nothing but salt. I also converted the cheap rusted electric drum brakes over to SS hyd. disc brakes on this trailer, well worth it! etrailer has all the parts and was great to work with! 478139

Changed out my old standard steel oil bath hubs for stainless steel and grease hubs. The site was very helpful in selecting the correct parts. The swap out and installation went well (except for a frozen lug nut). Since I launch the boat in saltwater most of the time, I am looking forward to hubs that aren't constantly rusting. Thanks etrailer! 444783

Ive had these hubs for a year now and they are working great. On multiple occasions,Ive launched in salt water without a wash facility and left the trailer for 24+ hours without any noticeable rust or corrosion. If you launch in salt, i would highly recommend these hubs and breaks.

Ask the Experts about this Kodiak Trailer Hubs and Drums

  • How To Find Replacement Hub For 19-Year Old Trailer
Since trailer manufacturers used many different components, we have no idea what was used on a trailer. The best way to find the right components is to pull the bearings and get the numbers off the bearings that may be stamped or etched. If you cannot find the numbers you will need a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle where the bearings ride. Then measure the inside of the hub. I have attached a photo that shows where you can typically find the numbers on bearings...

  • Bearing and Seal Recommendation for Installing Kodiak Hub KH84545S on MFI/Yamaha Trailer
The races of the part # KH84545S are installed but the bearings and seal are sold separately. It calls for a # L68149 and # L44649 and then for a seal part # RG06-050 which all match what you say you need.

  • Stainless Steel Kodiak Disc Brakes for 3,500 Pound # 84 Spindle
A # 84 spindle, like # R40484, is a spindle for a 3,500 pound axle that has inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649. The bearing kit that fits is # BK2-100. To replace your brakes and hubs you'll need the Kodiak Stainless Steel Brake Kit # K2R35S with hubs # KH84545S. You'll also need the bearing kit # BK2-100 that I mentioned earlier.

  • Parts Needed to Install All Stainless EOH Disc Brake Components on Trailer with 3,500 Axles
For the idler hub axle the easiest way to add stainless disc brakes would be a slip on kit like part # K2R35S which has rotors that would slip right over the current hubs and comes with everything else needed to install. To convert the hubs too of this axle to stainless you'd also need the part # KH84545S. Using the hub # KH84545S with the slip on disc kit part # K2R35S with it would be your best option for your current brake axle too since it's the only way to get everything stainless....

  • Stainless Steel Disc Brakes for 3,500 Lb. Axles with a 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern
For a completely stainless steel version of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2HR35D you will want to use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2R35S. You will also need an idler hub like the Kodiak Trailer Hub part # KH84545S as the stainless steel version of this kit is only offered with the rotor and not the hub/rotor assembly. If you want the hub/rotor disc brake kit in stainless steel then the only option I have for you is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2HR35DS which is a combination...

  • Hubs for Timbren Axle-Less Suspension for Use in Salt Water Environment
Timbren's axle-less trailer suspension systems like # ASR3500S05 are all made with a heavy powder coat finish but it is possible to select matching galvanized idler hubs like # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K or galvanized hub/drums like # 8-247-50UC3-EZ. Both fit the spindles on this Timbren kit and both have the 5-on-4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern. If you don't mind spending more we also have a stainless steel idler hub from Kodiak, part # KH84545S. All hubs that fit the Timbren kit appear on the linked...
