No more breaking the roof vent on the trailer when shoveling off snow! Customer service was also excellent and shipped fast!

We are in the middle of winter and the roof vent is still holding up strong.

Finally got a break in the weather for the install of roof vent. Perfect replacement, fit like a glove. Well made and all pieces fit together perfectly. Shipping was very quick. Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!!! E trailer is the place to shop.

by:

I just got the trailer roof vent, and it is a great product. I unboxed it and noticed it was made of quality material. The top half had nice wide corners with several predrilled holes for easy installation. The inside plastic parts were sturdy and well designed to fit just right. I will be replacing an old plastic roof vent on my 6x12 enclosed trailer. This roof vent will be a life saver because of its quality, and it will be able to handle the years of being in the elements to come. Plastic just doesn't last at all in elements. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to save themselves a lot of time and money replacing the plastic model roof vents by purchasing one of these. Great Job folks!

by:

I don't know why any one would shop RV parts any where else. I know I won't. Knowledgeable staff, quality parts and reasonable prices. Totally pleased with everything I have purchased.

by:

It arrived in the expected time. It installed and worked as described. The specifications allowed me to have the right hardware and adhesive on hand for installation. Still not leaking and didn't even dent with some hail that left marks elsewhere. I am glad I went with the metal vent vs the plastic that disintegrates in the sun and is destroyed by hail. This is what I will use to replace future vents. The price to value is excellent.

by:

They have held up work really well and being low profile they’re not obtrusive, which is the book that I was going for.
if there was one thing I would complain about it would be when you go to close them they make a bit of a noise a rattle tin can sound, but that’s my only minor complaint otherwise excellent product.

by:

We had an issue with the screen not locking in. one of the plastic tabs was missing that locks into place. However I had already mounted the unit to the trailer and sealed it before I realized the screen problem. other than that the kit worked great and the trailer is sealed.
Thank you.

installed on aluminum A.R.E. DCU truck cap.
Did not use the screw or caulk tape kit since the screws were far to long and the caulking is for rubber roofs. As it is, the smallest screws I found in size #8 were 1/2" long.

THe trim piece might be nice but it also reduces the head room in the space. i elected to not use it for that reason.

THe metal vent cover is what i wanted, though I wish they had smoothed the covers edge; it is sharp for the installer. But once installed it wont be an issue.

The screen is okay, but doesn't seem to completely cover the openings along the edge. If this was a concern, maybe a bit of 1/4" wide foam, backed with tape would make up the difference.

I prefer this type vent assy. with the round knob instead of the crank.

A cardboard template would have been helpful, but obviously not necessary.

With luck it will last half as long as the truck cap ... we'll see.

So far so good. I have not used it as much as I had anticipated. But it works for me when I do.

Received the Ventline Ventadome metal roof vent in good condition.
After removing the old plastic roof vent, the new unit slipped right into the existing square hole with no trouble. See the "before" and "after" pictures. The old plastic roof vent only lasted a few years in Wyoming (the 2 X 5 blocks in the "before" picture were duck taped in place to prevent the plastic bag I stuffed in there from blowing away - a temporary fix while waiting for the new vent).

I did not use the polyurethane adhesive between the roof and the vent flange. Everything deteriorates sooner or later especially in Wyoming. If I ever had to replace the vent it would be exceedingly difficult to remove it if stuck down with urethane adhesive. Instead I used ordinary putty (available at most hardware stores). In fact the old vent was sealed with putty. Since the putty layer is thicker than the urethane, I used 1" screws around the flange instead of the 3/4" screws supplied.

A year from now I'll see how the vent has survived.

How far above the roof does it protrude?

Paul

7/31/2015

Tim, do you mean the distance from the roof to the top of the lid when closed, or when fully open? When closed it cant be more than a couple of inches. I dont know what it is fully open - maybe 12 inches?Unfortunately the trailer is in Wyoming and I am in Denver right now, so I cant measure it.Paul

After one year in the Wyoming weather the vent has performed very well: no water leakage and no dust entry. Hail storms were not able to dent the vent lid even though they were severe enough to dent the aluminum trailer roof somewhat. I am pleased with the results. Paul

Very very fast shipping

products

by:

I bought this vent because it was low profile ,metal, manual operation and made in the USA. It was easier to install than I thought it would be ; because of the contours in the cap. No problem. The flange was wide enough and the gauge thick enough to make the contour perfectly. I used 100% clear silicone to make the seal.I'll paint it as soon as temperatures get back to normal. I highly recommend this unit.

I love my new metal vent!
My auto is
a Ford 2007 E350 Super Extended cab with 138,0000+ miles which I also love not the miles but the Van.
Living here in the Rocky Mountains above the sleepy town of Las Vegas New Mexico a metal vent was essential as we have surprise hail storms even in the summer time which last year whiped out a record of windshields and metal house roofs!
The installation has awarded me as "Poster Child for the Unprepared'!
My jig saw brand , a "Rigid" non variable speed apparently, needed a new blade I soon found after successfully drilling the roof pilot holes. I had worn it out cutting heavy metal door thresholds.
Off to the town below to discover no one here has the correct blades for my brand. I then caved and bought a great variable speed Black and Decker which accepts Milwaukee blades even available almost everywhere! The drill championed the metal cutout plus murdered my back electric attachment to the dome light LOL! The caulking was for me messy as usual and Dylan had sent just the right amount to fill in even the 4 hole gaps as my roof has deep ridges to deal with after sinking the vent. The screws I found were inadequate for the metal roofing install so back to town this time covered in silver caulking appearing as a giant bird flying overhead had pooped on me lol. Finally back and screws in place to complete the seal I applied the remaining caulking all around the edges and finished with Flex Tape just in case to ward off our winters. As I said I love it! This is a great recommended product with my stamp of approval! Thanks Dylan!

The axles that I ordered last year are still working out great. But even better than the parts was the service I got from etrailer. It was so great working with a company who took the time to listen to my project and help me get the right parts I needed, especially coming right off the heels of a terrible experience dealing with bad information and wrong parts from a competitor. Even with some damages in shipping, the returns/ and replacements were no hassle, with most issues being quickly resolved and not even costing me any additional downtime. As a contractor keeping a small fleet rolling, your competency and professionalism have made me a customer for life!! You guys at etrailer will be my first stop for trailer parts.

by:

I bought two of these for my steel roof 1969 Clark Cortez motorhome. I actually ordered the 2nd one after buying and installing the first, so I am a repeat customer with this particular vent. Shipped to my door for cheaper than a vintage supply website offered the exact vent for replacements on vintage airstreams and other trailers. The installation was simple. Looks clean and I LOVE the metal vents. No early morning sunlight over my head in my eyes when camping. :) :) :)

by:

Product arrived quickly and everything I needed was in the box to do the roof vent install. So far, very pleased.

Working well. Want to get another one

by:

I bought a nice Legend 6x10 enclosed alum trailer at an auction with a worn out vent cover & seal so l ordered a plastic & a metal cover from etrailer , the plastic cover & seal come first so thats what l installed & its still on my trailer looking in new condition after a year in the sun & weather , when the time comes l have a new metal cover waiting , those covers do their job keeping the rain out .

by:

Appreciated that a metal vent hood is offered, this is what I chose to replace the plastic hooded vent model on my cargo trailer. The plastic used for these vent hoods offers very little UV protection so I have had to replace several of them over the years. The mounting holes on both the metal flange and plastic internal trim fit the existing screw holes. I would prefer that the plastic garnish and screen support was thicker, it is too flimsy/fragile.

by:

I had a plastic roof for years and years, but the most recent one (of three) was cooked by the sun and just became so brittle that its crank frame broke right out of it. I hadn't even been aware of the existence of the metal one until I went to the Internet (instead of brick-and-mortar stores) but I find nothing at all wrong with this one and expect never to replace it. That is, unless some goofball tries to bring my van out of a garage without having raised the door high enough like when my first one was ruined, back in the 1990's.

by:

Just what I needed no more sun rotted plastic. Being here in Phoenix, AZ they don't last too long.

by:

This product was purchased to replace an old vent that broke. The vent showed up on the front steps. I open the box and found the corner to be bent up. I needed to fix the hole in the roof A.S.A.P.,
so I bent the corner back to avoid going through a return. Over all
I'm happy with the vent, but not thrilled about it being bent.

by:

Timing of shipment delivery was great! Communication about delivery process and timing excellent. Waiting to install vent unit.

by:

Good product just as described. Fast service!

by:

Avalibility and delivery was excellent. I would like to see a dexcription of the product with dimensions made available when ordering. The part has already been installed but had to use part of the old piece because the new was slightly different. Overall I would use entailed again and do recommend them to others.

  • Roof Vent Recommendation for 1965 Red Dale Camper
Sounds like you have a standard roof vent designed to fit a 14 inch by 14 inch roof opening like the Ventline # V2110SP-24. This vent would work well as a replacement. Worst case scenario you might have to enlarge the opening slightly but it will work.

  • Can the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent Be Installed on a Van
Yes, you can use the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent part # V2110SP-24 on your 2017 GMC Savana Van. However, it is designed for a roof thickness between 1-7/8" to 3". Therefore, if you don't meet the minimum requirement of 1-7/8" you will need to make some sort of spacer to make up the difference as the roof on your Savana Van is likely not very thick. I have heard of condensation problems with all aluminum trailers but nothing specifically with aluminum trailer vents.
