The Yamika BigCatch Kayak met all my expectations in both quality and how easy was to install it, my kayak fit like a glove and did not moved at all from my 2 1/2 trip from Ct to my house in NJ. I first contacted etrailer through email about the specs of my SUV and Kayak, George Jiggs answered all my questions 1 day after and he recommended the Yamika for my needs. Overall it was a great purchased!

Can’t wait to transport my PA 14 on the se!

The thing I like most about them is their shape works well with different kayak hull shapes. My old Yakima mako saddles worked well for my wildy tarpon but seemed akward with my next yak; a wildy a.t.a.k 120. The Big Catch saddles did not have that problem and fits the atak very well while still working well with the tarpon. So much so I bought a second pair to go on the trailer I just bought.

After a year, I couldn’t be happier with them. Their shape works well with different hull shapes and different bar shapes. For example, I have a pair on my rack and roll trailer which sports a round bar and another pair I installed on my RAV4 factory rack which is streamlined like the Yakima jet stream bars.

This product really has been a life saver. We no longer have to flip over our 96 pound tandem Hobie Kayak when putting it on top of our Toyota 4Runner. This product, along with the Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist and Support Bar for 2" Hitches - 49" Long (which we also purchased from etrailer) make it possible for a vertically challenged couple nearing 60 to fully enjoy our wonderful pedal kayak without the headache of driving and parking a trailer. Before we purchased this, we'd get the kayak up on the roof and often had to fight the wind to get it face down to tie down onto the crossbars. That's no longer necessary with the Yakima Big Catch Kayak Saddle. Great products from a great company!

Works well for my oldtown sportsman pdl

by:

We use these for two heavy fishing kayaks on both truck crossbars and now a Malone trailer. They are stable and adjustable so fit and support are perfect. The staps secure the boats with no problem and zero movement.

by:

etrailer, specifically Matthew K - helped our family secure everything needed for wonderful camping trips. The task was difficult because of supply chain issues last spring! Thank you Matthew!!

by:

I have the ShowBoat 66 and the Big Catch Carrier on my Toyota Highlander, and these work great together loading my Old Town Salty kayak on top of my Highlander.

by:

I bought this because I had limited room putting my Bonafide SS127 on my rack and roll trailer, and sometimes it will slide onto the part that holds the bars down and one time when it did that, it scratched the bottom of my kayak up pretty badly. These seem like they will be a decent solution and prevent that from happening again while holding my kayak secure.

by:

Use the Big Catch on my trailer which I haul my kayak on. It works very well and I like it a lot.

by:

While I own several Yakima products I've always felt their prices were expensive. I believe these saddles are worth the price. Well made and hold my Hobie Compass securely. It seems like a very durable material, and I am pleased with the build quality.

  • Recommended Crossbars and Kayak Carrier for Two Heavy Kayaks
Hey Chad, so I'd actually recommend a mid size ladder rack like the Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack # Y01152-58. This is by far going to be your best bet if you don't want to trailer your kayaks. These bars have a 500 lb weight capacity, has a 36" - 95-7/8" crossbar spread, and will work great with a kayak carrier like the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Roof Rack # Y04091. The only issue is this kayak carrier has a max weight capacity of 150 lbs per kayak, so for this to work you'd need...

  • Malone Microsport LowBed with Single Kayak Bunk and Spare Carrier
We can piece together a Malone Lowbed trailer by first starting with the part # MPG464-LB and then a single bunk kit part # MPG561 and then the spare kit part # MPG465 and you'd be set. There isn't a kit with just the parts you are looking for available at this time.

  • What Rear-Loading Kayak Will Work for My Tandem Hobie Kayak that Weighs 99 Pounds?
I went ahead and called my contact at Rhino-Rack, and they confirmed that the Nautic 581 carrier # RR581 has a maximum weight rating that is the same as the roof rack system that you mount it on. Most of the time, roof racks are rated above 99 pounds. However, if you want to be sure about the weight capacity, I recommend the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # Y04091. The BigCatch has an impressive maximum weight capacity of 150 pounds, which is plenty of capacity to accomodate...

  • Kayak Trailer Recommendation for Carrying a Hobie Full-Time
Hey Bruce, thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you're a pretty avid kayaker, so I recommend picking up the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 for a few reasons; it works with the Yakima BigCatch # Y04091 which works really well with Hobie kayaks, and it has the 2 different decks that you can use for a variety of cargo. For your setup I'd put the Hobie on the lower deck and then you can use the upper deck for your additional kayaks or carrying your fishing gear to keep...

  • Do Yakima Kayak Carriers Fit Right-On Ruff Sport Trailers for Heavy Fishing Kayak
I took a look at the website for the Right-On Ruff trailers and it specified that Yakima accessories will fit the crossbars of the Right-On Ruff Sport trailers. We do have a carrier that will work for you, although the Yakima Mako has been discontinued for some time, and it's replacement, the Yakima Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Saddle Style with Rollers # Y04083-04082, only has an 80 lb capacity. That's not enough for your Jakckson Kayak 360 Angler, which, based on my research weighs...

  • Retractable Tonneau Cover and Ladder Rack Combo for Heavy Kayaks on 2019 Ram 1500
I have the perfect option for your 2019 Ram 1500 6.5' Bed Crew Cab as long as you don't have the Multi-Pro Tailgate. For your application I recommend using the RetraxONE XR Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # RTT-60245 along with the Yakima OverHaul HD # Y01151-5855. The tonneau cover gives you that retraceable feature you're looking for but it also has T-Slots in the rails that the adapter that come with the OverHaul HD fit directly to. I've installed a handful of our ladder racks and the...

  • Roof Rack Kayak Carrier Recommendation for Carrying Old Tow PDL 106 Fishing Kayak
Hey Nikki, I looked up the weight of your Old Town PDL 106 fishing kayak and it weighs 107 lbs which for that you'd want the Yakima Big Catch Fishing Kayak Carrier part # Y04091 as it has a 150 lb weight capacity. Your Rhino Rack Vortex crossbars have a 165 lb weight capacity so you have the weight covered with that too but you should make sure you have the roof capacity on your Wrangler based on the roof style as some versions have pretty low weight capacities. • Will Yakima BigCatch and Yakima TopWater Fit XTR1 Crossbars
Hey Brosnon! I wasn't able to find the exact dimensions of those crossbars so I can't say for sure. We have seen both clamped onto ladder racks so more than likely it won't be an issue. However, it does look like they have channels on top, is that correct? The Yakima BigCatch # Y04091 will fit top channels using the # Y04092 and the Yakima TopWater # Y04088 fits top channels without the need for an extra adapter. As long as they have the channels you can definitely use the rack and carrier.

  • Compatibility of Yakima Big Catch Saddles for Blue Sky Angler 360 Kayak on Rack and Roll Trailer
The Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 66" # Y08106 is rated for 250 lbs. Your Jackson Blue Sky Angler 360 will work just fine on this trailer. The Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Rear Loading - Clamp On - 150 lbs # Y04091 are under the capacity of the 170 lb boat, but they are almost twice as much capacity as the alternative options, so they are what I would use. You will also want the RoundBar Adapter Kit for Yakima BigCatch Saddles - Qty 4 # Y04093.

  • How To Secure Fishing Kayak On Lower Level Of Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer
The lower level of the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer part # Y08129 wound be a great place to store a fishing kayak. I'm sure you could devise a way to attach some bunk boards but I really don't have any options for this so instead i'd recommend the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier part # Y04091 which is designed for these larger fishing kayaks. • Can the Yakima Rack and Roll be Used to Carry 2 Old Town Autopilot 120s
Great question, Jim! The Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 has a 250 lb weight capacity so I only recommend hauling your 2 Old Town Autopilot 120s with it if you keep them at that dry weight of 123 lbs. Since that's no fun, I recommend also adding the HD Shocks # Y08110 to the mix so that the weight rating is upped to 350 lbs so you have more wiggle room with your equipment. If you'd like to incorporate carriers for your kayaks then the Yakima BigCatch # Y04091 is what you'll want...

  • Best Kayak Carrier For Ocean Malibu Two XL Kayak
By far the best option for a rack to carry your Ocean Malibu Two XL kayak is the BigCatch from Yakima, which is the following part number: - Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier # Y04091 The BigCatch # Y04091 (which I verified with Yakima will fit your 4Runner) is the only carrier capable of handling both the 90 lb weight and 43 inch width of your kayak. • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a BigWater PDL 132 Kayak
Thank you for reaching out about this! While I would normally agree that something needs to be updated, it's important to note that the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 also has a 75 lb weight capacity and from what I was able to find it looks like your BigWater PDL 132 exceeds that by at least 10 lbs depending on the exact model - so you'll want to avoid using the Hullavator Pro with your boat. If you do have a model that is at or under the 75 lb mark please send in some photos so I can see...

  • Kayak Carrier Solution for FrontRunner Roof Tray
Since the Frontrunner roof racks are basically roof trays with channels on them for mounting roof accessories you could use a kayak carrier like the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG114MD with the T-slot adapter part # MPG8287 if you were wanting a J-style carrier. Yakima does not have a style like this that fits T-slots. Yakima has a cradle style rack with the BigCatch part # Y04091 and the adapter part # Y04092 that would work as well.

The closest to bunks for the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 is the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # Y04091. Yakima hasn't come out with a traditional bunk set to fit this kayak trailer but these have the same type of angle and are rated for up to 150 lb kayaks. • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for Lower Crossbars on Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer
The lower crossbars on the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 are larger than most other crossbars and have a 2" diameter. While most people just mount pads on them and secure the kayaks with tie-downs that way I recommend using the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # Y04091 because we know these will fit the larger crossbars and they are a saddle style type carrier so they have a lower profile for better clearance on the bottom of the trailer.
