This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

Toyota RAV4

Perfect Fit. Everything went together great everything lined up. Had the hitch installed in about 20 minutes and the wiring done in about 45 minutes as i had to take interior panels apart to get it to where i wanted the wire coming out.
Have not installed the Transmission cooler as of yet but it will be this weekend. Bought the biggest one i could get as my year of Rav4 was known for Transmission Failure. Luckily I have very Low Mileage.

2006 Toyota RAV4

Just installed this product. Very simple installation. Works exactly as described and connects very easily to all Toyota connectors. Plenty of wire to make it to the battery and all the connections. There is a very good tutorial made by u-haul on youtube. Simply search "wiring harness 2006 rav4" and it'll pop up. Perhaps etrailer could share it in their product description.

love it works great just make sure you plug the passenger side in correctly. There are two plugs it can go into. The correct one was inside the light hole NOT the one that is ez to get to.

We haven’t had any problems since ordering online with etrailer. I didn’t know anything, yet with the help of their knowledgeable and patient sales staff I had all my questions answered. I decided to size up and go with the next weight class because my RAV4 has a 6 cylinder engine and our Hiker trailer at just under a thousand pounds is our first camper. This way we’re all set in case we want to upgrade or we sell the vehicle it’s all set with a hitch that will tow at capacity. We can’t wait to get camping.

2011 Toyota RAV4

Trailer wiring kit was easy to install. Directions were easy to follow. My 2011 Rav 4 came with an accessory outlet in the drivers side rear panel right by the tail light assembly (see photo). The amperage max for the outlet was over what the lights on the trailer pulls so I spliced into the hot wire and drilled a ground connection nearby. My ATV hauler trailer lights work fine. My only complaint (and it is a small one) about the kit was that the wire lengths going to the other side of the car were BARELY adequate to reach even taking the shortest possible route The directions say to route the trailer plug wire out the door when used. I preferred to have the trailer plug mounted to the hitch rather than routed out the door. So I found a factory rubber drain plug grommet in the bottom of the rear storage area (where the spare tire goes if you don't have a rear door mounted tire like I do -- see photo). I took out the plug, cut a cross slit in it, cut the trailer wires and fed them through under the carpet, re-spliced the wires with wire connectors (and sealed them with dielectric grease to prevent oxidation) so that the splices occurred on the inside of the vehicle, sealed the rubber grommet with some black silicone and mounted the plug to the hitch with an angle bracket mount that accepts a standard 4 pin connector I got from the local U-haul dealer for $1.75(see photo).

2011 Toyota RAV4

This kit was a snap to install on my 2011 Toyota RAV4. It really was a "plug and play" installation!

I watched the installation video a couple times before beginning the installation, and also made sure I had all of the needed tools at hand before beginning the installation. For removal of the threshold inside the cargo area I gently used a small thin gauge pry-bar normally used to remove floor moldings.

Total installation time was 1.5 hours.

Instead of running the hot wire from the ModuLite up to the battery, I decided to make use of the handy 12-volt outlet plug already present in the cargo area.

The 12-volt outlet plug will indeed handle the amps/wattage of the ModuLite and the load to the trailer lights, with load to spare. (Also the existing circuit for the 12-volt outlet plug is already grounded and has a fuse.)

I attached the hot wire from the ModuLite to a 12V plug that had 10g wiring on it. I used the butt-connector from the kit to attach my 12V plug to the hot wire on the ModuLite. (I salvaged my 12V plug and wire from a 400 watt inverter that I no longer use.) 12V plugs with wiring can be purchased for around $4.00 from Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics, or your local auto parts and electronics stores.)

The 4-way flat trailer connector easily fit through the hole to drop down under the vehicle.

I highly recommend this kit - installing the wiring myself saved me over $100 dollars in labor and this kit is much better than the U-haul kit.

Good product, good price.

worked perfectly once I found the correct connect for the right taillight.

The part was easy to order, it came in a timely manner. I have a mechanic background so for me this was very easy to install. The Only thing that caught me off guard is the system only handles LED amperage. Not a big deal I'll change the lights on my boat trailer.

My mechanic thought it would be easy just a couple of connections to make. Instead it was a mess and very time consuming install. He also could not figure out what the big black box was for.

You mentioned that it was not as easy of an install as originally thought and there was a question as to the purpose of the black converter box. I know the harness is now installed however I still wanted to provide a video reference that we did on a 2011 Toyota Rav4. It is in the link below. I also wanted to answer the question about the converter box. The converter box will convert your vehicles taillight system from a 5-wire system with the separate amber turn signals down to a 4-wire system which is needed to properly operate the trailers lighting system. It also regulates the amperage that is given to the light functions

Parts were a perfect fit and easy install with great instructions. Fit my 2009 Rav 4 perfectly. Also shipping was very fast.

I replaced another brand’s wiring harness that lasted about 2 months. This harness was easy to install and a year later it is still working great.

Easy to follow instructions and install.

2007 Toyota RAV4

Product was very easy to install. The installation video for the 2007 Toyota RAV4 was extremely helpful.

Good kit with clear instructions. Not a huge fan of running the wires under the vehicle, as per the instructions. I ran it through the firewall grommet and kept it in the car instead. It's a bit janky all-in-all, but it is much cheaper and easier to install than the OEM alternative. Maybe 15 min install time, probably less.

Worked Great the instructions are a little difficult to follow but the U tube video they have was excellent

Simple plug and play! Awesome results even a monkey can do it.

the wiring harness arrived quickly after I ordered it.
I am happy with the harness' quality and, although I have not installed it in the car yet, I have every confidence that it will go well given the complete online video guidance and the written instructions supplied which is even specific to my vehicle - I couldn't ask for more support or product quality.

I cannot recommend this too much!

2009 Toyota RAV4

Received my hitch, trailer tire, and wiring kit for our 2009 Rav4 this afternoon about 1:30. Because I had already checked out the installation process on he etrailer website. Everything went just as indicated so it was no problem. One pre-drilled and tapped hole in the frame was a bit rusty but I was also prepared fo that and I used a toothbrush with WD4 to clean the threads then chased that with one of the old bolts so not to mess with the threads of the new bolts. Believe me, etrailer has this stuff already figured out and there are few to no "unexpected" surprises. This was the 3rd etrailer hitch I've installed and all have proven to be very easy.

2010 Toyota RAV4

Worked the way it should and the instructions were clear.

2014 Dodge Journey

I've just finished my installation of my new hitch and wiring kit from and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. The instructional videos on the web site were spot on

This kit has performed perfectly. The instructional video was clear and showed everything I needed to do.

Haven’t had one single problem. Relatively easy to install the hitch. Suggested preferred routing of the wires to the battery would be helpful for people who have lost the auto-mechanic touch ;)

It works perfect. Couldn't be any simpler to install. The customer rep is amazing!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Cross cross applesauce. This trailer hook up was a cinch! took maybe an hour to run all wires, find secure zip-tie locations around rear axle. Anybody who can read with a bit of mechanical know-how should have no issues. Any product is reliant on a good installer, take your time and read the instructions.

This review is a year after the purchase. Everything still works great. Quality Products, Great Prices, and awesome customer service.

  • Routing Modulite Power Wire to Engine Compartment 2010 Toyota Rav4
The sub frame tube is located just forward of the rear suspension. The tube is approximately one inch in diameter. I have asked the installer that appeared in the video if he could recall how far up toward the front of the vehicle the tube extended, but he could not recall. There is no one correct method of running that wire to the engine compartment, as long as the wire is kept away from any moving parts such as suspension components and anything hot, like the muffler, exhaust and exhaust...

The kit comes with 20 feet of wire to reach from the rear of the vehicle to the front of the vehicle. If everything is wired up correctly this Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118412, should not be drawing any power unless the key is on or an accessory is attached that would draw power. The first thing to check is always the ground wire, if the ground is bad you can see all sorts of strange behaviors on the trailer lights. You will also want to check the grounds on the trailer wiring also just to rule out the trailer causing the problems. The best way to test the box would be to get a circuit tester like the part # 3808 and test the wires going into the box and then out the other side. I would start on the left blinker signal wire on the input side of the box. You will...

I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready about the trouble you have been having with the Trailer Wiring Harness, # 118412. He stated that on some Toyota Rav 4 models, the chassis ground is not a sufficient ground for the converter box.
