Will the Tekonsha Wiring Work on My 2025 Santa Cruz? Complete Tow Package for 2025 Santa Cruz

Hello, I am trying to see if this will fit my vehicle. I have a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz 2.5T Limited. The compatibility says it does not however we have the factory tow package and the installation video looks exactly the same as our vehicle. Thank you, Matt

Thanks for writing in! I'm glad you found us.
We did originally have the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118784 listed as a fit for the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz. However, we had to remove it from our fit guide after hearing from some customers whose vehicles did not have the connector needed for installation. We also noticed Hyundai changed the factory wiring part number from the 2024 model year to the 2025 model year, which tells us there was some sort of design change.
With that said, the wiring harness we know will work on your 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C93DQ. This harness installs by connecting directly to the wiring behind your tail lights, so it does not rely on the factory tow package connector being present.
If you're planning to tow a trailer with brakes, you'll start with the # C93DQ and then build on that by adding the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This installation is a bit more involved since you'll need to run a power wire from the battery to the rear of the vehicle, install the included amps under the hood, and run the brake controller output wire from the front of the vehicle (where your brake is located) back to the 7-way connector.
For a brake controller, I really like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness - Dash Knob - Proportional # RED52VR. It's very user-friendly, and I like that the control knob is always within easy reach if you need to make an adjustment or manually apply the trailer brakes.
Of course, it wouldn't be a complete tow package without a hitch. The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e59ZV is an excellent choice. I actually installed one of our hitches on my own vehicle this past weekend. I've installed plenty of hitches on lifts here at etrailer, but I wanted to experience the process the same way our customers do. I used a couple of jack stands to help support the hitch during installation and was able to get the job done by myself without any issues.
I chose our etrailer hitch because I really like the matte black finish. It blends in nicely with the vehicle and has a clean factory-style appearance. One tip I picked up from Brad in one of our install videos was to leave the fish wires attached until you're ready to install the nuts. That ended up being very helpful and made the installation go much smoother.
Last but not least, take a look at the etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball - 2" Hitch - 2-3/4" Rise - 7,500 lbs # e38NR. Once the hitch is installed on your Santa Cruz, the receiver height will be right around 14 inches. Most trailer couplers sit near 16 inches, so the rise will get you to level towing.
So now that I put together a complete package, I am curious to know, what do you plan on using the wiring for?

I can't speak for the Santa Cruz but I have a 2021 Santa Fe. My kit plugged directly into the factory harness outlet located behind a plastic cover under the vehicle by the rear left tire. There are two bolts to remove to take the cover off and you'll see the harness female connector is capped off. If your truck has the ability to have the factory tow package, this connector should be present. I simply plugged the connector into the harness and snaked the wire back to the hitch. No need to remove tailights and do additional wiring. Again, this was a 2021 Santa Fe that was prewired for the trailer hitch option but did not include a factory hitch at the time I purchased it. I installed the hitch and wiring harness in less than 2 hours with a little help. I can't imagine that the Santa Cruz would be any different.

Matthew, my experience is the same as described by E trailer above. it's a simple matter to remove the taillight.Assemblies, and patch into the wiring to connect your wiring harness to the SC. Installing a trailer harness the way the factory suggests is a nightmare The only disadvantage is that you must manually push the tow button to let your SC know that you are pulling a trailer. I use my sc to pull my twenty two foot aluminum fishing boat and my thirteen foot fibreglass duck hunting boat. No issues.
