Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C40035. This is the 2 and 5/16th-inch hitch ball with the 1-inch platform. The high-rise design is going to let you easily match the hitch ball to the trailer height. The trailer hitch ball's going to sit an extra inch above the ball mount platform. This unit's going to feature fine threads that are going to provide an exceptionally tight, strong grip. It's made from a steel construction with a nickel chrome finish to help resist rust and corrosion. The lock washer and the nut are both included. When installing this, the instructions indicate that this unit needs to be tightened to 450 foot-pounds of torque.
The ball diameter's going to be 2 and 5/16ths of an inch. Take a measurement of the shank length. That's going to give us a measurement of 2 and 5/8ths of an inch long. The shank diameter is going to give us a measurement of and inch and a quarter. The ball rise platform's going to measure right at 1 inch, and then the height from the bottom of the base, this point here, to the top of the hitch ball's going to measure 3 and 11/16ths of an inch.
The hitch ball's going to feature a capacity of 10,000 pounds. That's going to do it for our review of part number C40035. This is the Curt 2 and 5/16th-inch hitch ball with the 1-inch ball rise platform.

I like everything about this ball except the plating wore off the first time I used it.
I always apply a small amount of grease when pulling my travel trailer but the plating still wore through.

Well built ball with 1" rise. Only downside is the lack of a faceted part of the shaft to be able to put a wrench on for tightening the nut. Still able to grab it with locking or slip joint pliers, but some flat spots to slide on a wrench would be ideal.

Pair this with a forged ball mount and you could tow a tank!

Although I have not had the chance to use the ball yet, the added 1 inch in height should be perfect to help level the Boy Scouts trailer I occasionally tow.

My poor rating is all about the product and no reflection on etrailer - As others have commented this hitch ball needs to be made available in Stainless Steel. It has, so far, functioned as advertised and fits my requirements. However, the material and finish are poor. I use this to tow a 2000lb GVWR trailer (Hélio O2). I routinely clean and grease my hitch coupler and this hitch ball. In the short time and relatively few miles I've used this the finish and base material are wearing away rapidly (see attached pictures taken at time of this review).
Also, to be nit-picky: It does not make sense why the 2" Rise (Item # C40034) is priced less than the 1" rise (Item # C40033).

- Availability of a Forged Ball Mount with a 6 inch RiseOut of the ball mounts we carry that the manufacturers have labeled as being forged, the closest one to a 6 inch rise is going to be # 40332, that you have referenced. To get that additional inch, you could use a ball with a 1 inch rise like # C40035. This is a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball with a 1 inch rise and 10,000 pound capacity.

It works great as a ball. However, the chrome wore through on the first use. So now I have a chrome ball with yellow brass lines on it.
