Specs:
Note: This actuator is compatible with the Demco manual reverse lockout kit (DM5939). If you choose not to add the reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
The coupler portion of this trailer brake actuator features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic.
Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction
Made of sturdy steel, this hydraulic trailer brake actuator features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This zinc coat has a 200-hour salt spray rating. In addition, the composite master cylinder is made of corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced nylon to further ensure durability.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the drop and the zinc finish. It is designed for disc brakes, has an 8,000 lb. Weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes with the tow vehicle slows or stops. The included coupler right here it uses the easy-latch mechanism for simple, secure hookup and disconnect. Basically what it allows you to do is it will let you hookup even when the latch is in the closed position.
You just drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place. Now on the actuator, I'm going to rotate this so you can see the very back. This is where the composite master cylinder is. It's very durable and efficient. It's made of a glass reinforced nylon construction to help resist rust and corrosion. It has a large reservoir so it provides increased capacity for the brake fluid. The very top here you'll notice it has the automotive style diaphragm cap and that will help create a completely enclosed system to help prevent contamination of the brake fluid.
I'll rotate it back here. Now right on the inside, I don't if you'll be able to see, but on the inside it actually has an acetyl coat polymer lining and that provides a nice smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out. You can see it has the built-in drop to match your tow vehicle's height. The break-away is included right here. The snap hook on the safety cable ensures a secure connection to the break-away level. This is all made of a heavy-duty steel construction.
It all has a zinc plating to offer corrosion resistance. It will meet the 200-hour salt spray rating. This is a bolt-on installation. It does require Grade 5 bolts to bolt the actuator to your trailer. Now it does come with the 3 Grade 5 bolts for installing the coupler to the actuator.
Those bolts are included. These parts are made in the USA. Again the specs on this, the application is for trailers with hydraulic disc brakes. The coupler is designed to fit on the ball diameter of 2 inch. This does have a gross towing weight capacity of 8,000 lbs., maximum tongue weight capacity of 800 lbs. It is designed for mounting on a straight 3-inch wide trailer tongues. The drop on this is a 4 inch drop and this actuator does have a Model No. Of DA-91. One last thing I do want to mention to you is that this actuator is compatible with the Demco Manual Reverse Lockout Kit, it's Part No. VM-5939. We do sell that separately. It can be added to that. Now if you chose not to add the reverse lock-out it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without this actuator triggering your trailer brakes. That should do it for the review on the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the drop. It has a zinc finish designed for disc brakes and has an 8,000 lb. Weight capacity.
