Question:
I have a Tie Down Engineering LP8000 actuator that needs replacement. The LP8000 housing is welded to my trailer. Are there any actuators that will slide into the LP8000 housing? Or must I have the LP8000 cut off the trailer tongue? Thanks

Hey Rick! I'm sorry to say there are no replacement parts that will fit the old actuator. Any inner member or other parts from other brands wouldn't line up correctly in that housing for an easy swap. The only solution is to remove it and install a new brake actuator like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc # DM8669113.
It is probably worth looking around to see if there are any parts or rebuild kits still floating around out there first since cutting that off and replacing it may also require adding to your tongue based on the space you have available there. Some people opt to cut that off and then add a coupler hinge kit like # FHDPB230101 to extend the tongue back out with stock steel so they can avoid welding.
