Solid washer, 1/8" thickness. I used as roller washers. They are a little less outside diameter than designated "roller washers", but I needed the 1" inside diameter which ETrailer didn't have in a roller washer. These actually fit my roller BETTER because of the slightly smaller outside diameter and have more than enough coverage against the hog rings. Thanks for a great site and the phone assistance. 74532

They arrived on time and were as desctibed. Turned out I didn't actually need these. There wasn't enough space on the spindle after I put them on. Guess that's why there weren't any there when I took the wheel apart. But, that's certainly not etrailer's fault. 895572

  • Where Does Flat Washer Go
I was unable to find an order number so I'm not certain exactly what you are referring to, but in general a flat washer such as Washer For 1" Spindle # SW1000 will go between the outer bearing of your hub and the nut that holds it on, which essentially works to protect the bearing. These washers are used on spindles with a spindle nut such as Spindle Nut 1" # 165686 and Cotter Pin # 165649.

  • Spindle Washer Compatibility With 1 Inch Spindle Without D-Shape
Since you don't have the D-shaped spindle that will allow for a D washer, a regular washer for a 1 inch spindle like # SW1000 will work. This washer not having any type of tab will allow it to rotate and without proper grease could cause damage as with any other washer. Many axles come with this type of washer. Not having a washer and allowing the bearing to come in contact with the back of the castle nut would be a much bigger issue unless you have Dexter Axles which were made for use...

  • How To Fix the Cotter Pin Not Catching the Ears On Spindle Nut For a Boat Trailer
I do have an option for you but I do not recommend drilling a hole into your spindle in order for the cotter pin to catch the shroud on your spindle nut. I would first make sure you have the washer installed behind the spindle nut between that and the outer bearing. If you do then it might just be easiest to install more washers, part # SW1000 until the gap is filled. There is also the option of obtaining a longer spindle nut at your local hardware store which might be a better option for...

  • Is Spindle Washer Needed On Reliable Torsion Axle?
Many smaller spindles do not require a washer. You can add one if you desire, but many spindles like the 2,000 lb Dexter axles do not come with a washer and don't require it. If you want to add a washer like # SW1000 it will not negatively effect the assembly or spindle as long as you have the room for the threaded nut to be secured.

  • Should There Be a Washer on Trailer Spindle Between Spindle Nut and Outer Bearing
There really should be a flat washer between the outer bearing of your hub and the nut that holds it on. The washer protects the back side of the bearing from the edges and points on the back side of the spindle nut. The Washer For 1 inch Spindle, # SW1000, is typically used on spindles that have a castle nut, like # 165686, and a cotter pin, # 165649. If the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 8-91-05UC1 is what fits your axle/spindle then you can use the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles # RG05-100 for an EZ Lube spindle or parts # SW1000, # 6-190, and # 165686 for a standard spindle.

  • Does a Washer go Between the Outside Bearing and the Axle Nut?
Yes there should be a thrust bearing/washer between the outer bearing and the nut that goes on to protect the bearing. What you want is Washer For 1" Spindle part # SW1000. This will replace the missing one and get you back on the road. Keep in mind this is for the very common 1" spindle diameter which is what the hub you looked at uses if you have a different size than this let me know.

  • The Washer from TruRyde Bearing Kit # BK1-150 Does not Fit on the Spindle
The tang washer included with the TruRyde Bearing Kit, # BK1-150, was designed to work with EZ Lube spindles. Easy lube spindles have a flattened portion on the threads (see photo) so they can use a tang washer to hold the nut in place. Non-EZ Lube spindles will have a hole through the threads and use a cotter pin to hold the nut in place, rather than a tang washer. • Replacement Spindle Washer Recommendation for a Trailer Spindle
Sounds like you have a 1 inch diameter spindle and would need the part # SW1000 as this washer has an inner diameter of 1 inch. There is no specific torque rating for the castle nut that holds your hub in place. We recommend tightening the castle nut down until it stops, and then backing it off slightly. Having it too tight would prevent the hub from spinning.

  • Are Spindle Washers Needed if the Trailer Axle Does Not Already have Them
The 2,200 pound axles that I have seen all had a spindle washer. It is possible that your trailer didn't come with one but it is unlikely. The ends of your spindles are likely 1 inch in diameter since it is a 2,200 pound axle so you can use washer # SW1000. Spindle washers protect the castle nut as well as provide evenly distributed force when tightening the nut.
