will this protect for low power?

Hi Roy,

Yes, the 30 Amp Portable Power Watchdog # HU32VR will protect your RV from sustained low voltage as well as power spikes and high voltage. If the incoming voltage drops to 104 volts or below, or climbs to 132 volts or higher, the watchdog face will turn red.

That low voltage warning is especially nice at a campground where everyone is running their AC and the pedestal voltage starts sagging. The Watchdog gives you a way to keep an eye on volts, amps, and watts from your phone, and you can get an alert when the voltage moves outside the range you set. Just keep in mind that this protects by disconnecting you from unsafe low voltage, it does not boost low voltage coming from the pedestal.

Which gear matters most to you to protect in your setup, the AC, fridge, or electronics?

I’m a travel nurse and in a different park every thirteen weeks plus places I go to enroute to a new assignment. I bought a watchdog a little better than a year ago. It has served me well with not one minute of trouble. If the unit detects low or high power it will automatically shutdown. Major plus is it will reset itself when it detects the power problem has been addressed. What more could you ask for? Love this unit. Be sure that you buy from a trailer supply company if at all possible. A lot of RV dealerships will sell you old inventory to move it off their shelves. They won’t bother to say the unit is several years old.

Roy, My wife and I travel in our pick up truck camper. We use our watchdog everywhere we go, it has saved our rig several times for example. We stayed for a few days at 1000 trails campground when we first pulled in the sign red pardon our dust, we are renovating. When I found our spot, the first thing I noticed was the power box seem to be bent on the pedestal before I even turned off the truck I grabbed my watchdog and plugged it in and sure enough the power was bad. We drove around the campground and tried three more sites before we found one that the watchdog said was good without my watchdog. It could’ve destroyed our rig we buy all our accessories from etrailer, it gives me great peace of mind to know that the people on the other end of the phone have put their hands on and in many cases tested and used every product they sell good luck on your journeys

@RayB Thanks for sharing your experience, Ray! I've never thought about needing to check the pedestal before getting completely settled into a campsite. Having to try four sites before finding good power is pretty wild! Have you run into questionable campground power like that anywhere else in your travels?

We love ours. Gives us peace of mind when hooking up at power and campgrounds with unknown power quality.

We're full time RVers (just hit the 5 year mark) and picked up the Watchdog 9 or 10 months ago after it was recommended by a mobile RV tech. VERY happy and pleased with this product.

@Matt Great to hear the Watchdog is still working well for you after almost a year! And congrats on your 5-year full-time RV-versary! That’s quite a milestone! What is your favorite adventure so far?
