What Adapter do I Need to Use My Furrion Camera System with My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

Updated 09/23/2025 | Published 03/26/2022

Question:

I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited that tows a travel trailer. This trailer has a Furrion rear camera system. The system does not work with this truck and research indicates that the reason is due to the way that power comes from the truck to the trailer. Anyway there are some work arounds but do you know of this issue and do you sell any systems that would work with the GMC truck?

We definitely know about the issue you are referring to. We have just the part for you! Furrion recently came out with a brand new adapter for your 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited to work with your camera system. The part you need is the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR.

@Jose The Furrion # FR87PR is the correct adapter for 2021 and newer models with PWM wiring. If you would rather not have to connect this adapter every single time you tow you can just splice in the PWM Filter # VGR74VR behind the camera on the trailer. Both of these adapters just store or transfer power over to the running light circuit for constant power instead of the pulsing power that PWM wiring provides.

@Josr No, the Furrion Vision S camera system is a closed network and would only work with their monitor.

I have a GMC 2022 2500 HD. I’m not exactly sure what is going on. There is power to the camera. It has been paired however the new 7 inch monitor that came with. It does not show any picture at all. I have seen others mention that Feron has a new pigtail that has to be used so that the camera works. I just want to make sure before spending another $60 that this will take care of the problem.

@Paul Hey Paul! The newer trucks like your 2022 GMC Sierra have a power management system that does not send a stable enough current to power back up cameras. Installing the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter w/ Power Switch for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR will fix this issue. If you do not want to mess with the 7-Way adapter every time you tow your trailer, you can wire in the 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems item # VGR64VR, directly behind the camera. It's got a capacitor that stores up voltage and serves the same purpose as item # FR87PR.

I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and I've had the same problem with my Furion Camera since it was installed by the RV dealer. I was operating under the assumption the signal from the camera wasn't making it from the back of my 32-foot RV to the front of my truck cab but perhaps this is the problem. Would this adapter work with my truck, and should I give it a try?

@Goodscout the Vision S has a massive range so it shouldn't be an issue at 32'. I'm sure it is the PWM on your Silverado causing the problem. You can use the adapter # FR87PR or permanently install the # VGR74VR on your trailer to fix this.

I purchased the adaptor for the Furion S+ camera and my 2022 GMC SLT. I was able to connect to the camera however the camper running lights did not work. I got a reading from the truck that said no cable connection. Any suggestions?

@TimS I checked with Furrion to make sure that this adapter will work with the new Vision S + system and they advised that it would be compatible. It's possible that it's a faulty unit. I wasn't able to pull up an order number with your email address you provided so I'd recommend reaching out to where you purchased from to get a replacement.
