Recommended Parts to Flat Tow a 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor

Question:

I noted a prior question as to whether the 2024 Ranger Raptor could be flat towed behind an RV. The answer was that The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit RM23DQ fits the Ford Ranger starting with the 2025 model year which is why you arent seeing it listed as a fit.inch Can you confirm that this fits the 2026 Ranger Raptor also, and that the 2026 Ranger Raptor can be flat towed?

I sure can Scott! I verified with Roadmaster that their Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # RM23DQ does fit the 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor. It can indeed be flat towed and there are no other restrictions. This baseplate kit comes with all hardware necessary to complete the installation.

Here are the rest of the parts you'll need to flat tow a 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates item # e84ZR

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights item # RM38FR

Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes

Charge Line - Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Line Kit for Demco Air Force One and Stay-IN-Play Duo Braking Systems item # DM66VR. This one only works with the Demco braking systems. If you go with another manufacturer's system you'll need item # RM-156-25

Stop Light Switch - Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit item # RM64TQ

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

I have the 2025 Ford Ranger Lariat. This is my third set of Roadmaster base plates for my newer cars. The first two were a perfect fit. This one for the Ranger had to have one hole on each side drilled as they were not aligned. They were off about ½"-¾". Other than that I really loved them. Also when enlarging two holes make sure you drill straight and not at an angle. It makes installing easier.

The Roadmaster base plate kit is very satisfactory. I found that video on etrailer was accurate and very helpul, the specifc instructions from Roadmaster instructed me to remove multiple shields and light harnesses from the engine compartment and this is not necessary - again just follow the video. The install would be much easier with a vehicle lift but I was able to accomplish the job using a set of ramps - without this you will not have enough room to work. I had one hole slightly out of alignment, most likely from warping due to welding
