Recommended B&W Companion Slider For a 2024 GM Puck System Over a Curt A16 w/ Adapter

Updated 08/11/2026 | Published 08/06/2026

Question:

Looking at a fifth wheel camper and wanted to price out some of the other things needed. Looking at the curt hitches. We have a 2024 Chevy 2500HD LT already puck prepped but the 6 10 bed and looking a a cougar half ton fifth wheel. Figured we would need the C88KR, C58FJ, and 16721 nylon disk. Wanted to confirm or see if there were other suggestions.

Welcome back Anthony! The Curt parts you were looking at are compatible with your Silverado and each other but I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3775.

The B&W Companion w/ Slider item # BWRVK3775 is one of the best 5th wheel hitches on the market. It's got legs built into the base that'll attach directly to your Silverado's pucks. This system doesn't require the use of an adapter like the Curt item # C88KR, so you have less parts to worry about.

The Curt item # C88KR adapter will also raise the height of the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider item # C58FJ by 3-1/2". This means the hitch height will be 21" - 25" instead of 17" - 19" high with the Companion item # BWRVK3775.

With how tall the Silverado 2500's are this additional height will most likely give your 5th wheel trailer a nose up stance when towing. Not sure which one you're looking at though but I highly recommend checking the kingpin height from the ground.

The Companion item # BWRVK3775 also has thicker cast 1" jaws that surround the kingpin for a better more secure connection. The Curt A16 item # C58FJ uses 360-degree interlocking dual jaws that focus more on shock absorption. The Companion uses polyurethane bushings under the coupler to absorb road shock and minimize chucking.

At the end of the day you'll also save quite a bit of money going with the B&W Companion w/ Slider item # BWRVK3775.

The Curt Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # 16721 is a great option for both hitches.

Thoughts on the pullright superglide auto slide in comparison to the b&l?

@AnthonyB It's a great hitch. You can't beat the auto-slide feature that's for sure. The PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch item # PUL83RR is going to be the correct one for your Silverado's puck system. It'll also give you more clearance for making tight turns. The PullRite has 14" of travel, whereas the Companion item # BWRVK3775 only has 12". The only real issue we've had with the PullRite's is matching up the capture plates, which you will need. They're extremely pin box specific so we'll need to wait until you decide on a 5th wheel trailer to figure that out. I would need a part number or the exact model of the pin box to find the correct capture plate if you've got your choices narrowed down. The year, make, and model of the trailer won't be specific enough.

@JerredH we ended up going with a cougar 29mbd which has the curt helux pin box. Would you recommend the above pullright or the demco auto slide? I like the adjustable height on the demco. And I understand I would need the collar adapter for the demco.

@Anthony That's awesome! Congrats on your new 5th wheel trailer. I would go with the 18k Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider item # DM79GV and the Autoslide Locking Plate for Helux Pin Boxes item # DM53KV. This is the correct one for your Silverado's puck system. Like you said the PullRite is not height adjustable so any height adjustments have to be made at the pin box instead of on the hitch. Comparably they offer the same autoslide features and the Demco is going to save you some money.
