received the 30amp. surge protecter 2 days after I ordered it , very fast service.
I went to the Chicago RV show and bought a new Rockwood Mini-lite , which I have not picked up yet from the dealer, because I have not got a call to say that it is in.
I plan on using the surge protecter on this new Rockwood , and I am sure it will do
the job it is intended to do . Thank you! You have great customer service!

by:

Very easy to use product. Have already put it to use on a camping trip. It shut down once during a voltage drop and restored power when voltage was restored. Well worth the money.

by:

Camco Voltage protector worked works good

Found
unit at lower price and etrailer Low Price Guarantee worked well
I will be getting all my trailer needs from them if they offer what I need

Thanks

by:

I have not had any damage to electronics or anything else since I started using this unit and there has been a few power outages and surges of power off then on again quickly which is usually when the voltage spikes would occur and possibly cause the damage.

by:

Worth every penny!. Use it every time power is hooked to TV wether at rv park or at home on generator. Works everytime as it should

by:

Have used it to monitor and protect my Airstream from electrical surges, etc. at campgrounds and private residences across both the USA and Canada without any mishaps or issues. It’s easy to use and does what it’s supposed to at a reasonable cost!

by:

Possibly too sensitive. I was at a site and it kept resetting, knocking out the Air conditioner in late June in Houston.
Gives good peace of mind and I've used it at every other site since.
It's a sizeable and heavy piece of equipment.

  • Troubleshooting Camco 50A Power Defender Not Allowing Power to Go Through
I reached out to my contact at Camco who said that if you didn't give the Camco RV Power Defender # CAM55306 2 minutes to run through diagnostics after plugging it into the power source then that would cause the lights to act like what you described. If you plug it in and let it sit for at least 2 minutes it should then either give you one of the different light indicators and/or will work properly. If this doesn't solve your problem let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.

  • Troubleshooting Sidewinder Pin Box that Angles When Backed Up
If when you back your trailer up straight the Sidewinder arm turns at a slight angle then you have a wedge issue. Since you have a B and W Patriot the correct wedge is the part # SWW-06 which you'd want to verify is the one you have and is installed properly. Make sure it's facing the correct direction and that all of the install bolts are torqued down to spec. Could you send a picture of the jaws of your hitch and the wedge as well possibly?

  • Troubleshooting Open Neutral Reading Only When Air Conditioner Is Running
The Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector - 50 Amp # CAM55306 is reading correct when you are in basic use. So we know the shore power is not the issue. We know that AC units do pull a lot of power, so the momentary open neutral wouldn't be a concern but if it says that way the entire time you are running your AC, I would have the wiring looked at to confirm you are safe in its use.

  • Recommended Surge Protector for 50 Amp 5th Wheel Trailer Connection to Shore Power
For your 50 amp system, you will want the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Monitor - 50 Amp # CAM55306. This voltage monitor disconnects when dangerous voltage levels are detected and then reconnects when it stabilizes. This is much better than the cheap surge protectors that need replacing and are only good for one surge and then leave you disconnected or vulnerable. You won't need a different surge protector for your 50 amp RV wiring. For sites that won't have a 50 amp service, I recommend...

  • What is the Difference Between a Power Analyzer and a Surge Protector 50 Amp Adapter
An analyzer such as # CAM55313 has diagnostic lights to indicate faults so that you can avoid damage to your RV. This model also offers surge protection. A model that offers only surge protection would not have any diagnostics. But some have both. There is also the Power Defender # CAM55306 that takes surge protection a step further by having the ability to detect too much AND too little power and disconnect and reconnected as needed.

  • Camco Power Defender Showing Open Neutral When Plugged Into RV
If you are plugging the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector # CAM55306 directly to the shore power outlet and only getting the "Open Neutral" fault when plugging in the RV then there is an issue either with the outlet itself or your RV cord. The reason the error is only showing when plugging in the RV is because it will only detect it when power is being sent back to the RV/trailer. It is basically needing a bigger load placed on the circuit to identify this fault. I recommend inspecting...

  • Joules of Surge Protection for the Camco Voltage Defender
I spoke to my contact at Camco and he informed me that the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Analyzer # CAM55310 that you referenced offers 1,050 joules of surge protection but it's primary function is to determine if a power outlet/pedestal is wired correctly. For more voltage protection you may be more interested in the # CAM55301 that offers 2,450 joules of protection or the part # CAM55306 that provides 3,850 joules of protection. Review videos for all three products are attached.

  • Differences Between Camco Circuit Analyzers and Power Defenders
You are correct. The 30 Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector # CAM55301 is like a circuit breaker and automatically resets if there's a surge whereas the 50 amp Circuit Analyzer part # CAM55313 is like a fuse and it only can handle one surge. For a 50 amp breaker style you'd need the part # CAM55306.

  • Recommended Adapter and Surge Protector for 50 Amp System to 30 Amp Shore Power
With your 50 amp camper system, I recommend using the Power Grip RV Power Maximizer - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male and 30 Amp Male # CAM55025 to allow you to plug into 30 amp power supplies. Then you will use a surge protector like # CAM55306 for multiple surge protection or # CAM55313 for single time surge protection. Many people use the Camco Power Grip Cable with Lock # CAM44290 to protect their investment. Unless you convert your entire system to 30 amp, I don't recommend using a...

  • Troubleshooting Low Power from Shore to Transfer Switch
It sounds like you have a short in your Power Cord wiring as there isn't anything between the power cord and the Go Power Transfer Switch # 34270278 as they are directly wired. I've attached a video of the Go Power Transfer Switch - Quick Connect - 30 Amp # 342GPTS which shows these connections. If you don't use and in-line circuit breaker like # CAM55306 then there has to be an issue with the wiring or the ground on the transfer switch itself.

From your outlet, you will first use the Mighty Cord Dogbone RV Power Cord Adapter - 50 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male - 12" # A10-1550VP or the Power Grip RV Power Maximizer # CAM55025 and then the circuit protector # CAM55306 to protect your RV electrical system followed by the 50 amp power cable to your RV. There is nothing you need to do differently inside your RV as it is already designed for your refrigerator and other appliances to function.

  • Comparison of Camco Circuit Analyzers and Voltage Protectors
Camco Power Defender voltage protectors, parts # CAM55301 and # CAM55306, have a bit more protection than the circuit analyzers, parts # CAM55310, # CAM55312, and # CAM55313. Both the analyzers and protectors have diagnostic lights for faults but beyond that the analyzers are just surge protectors. The voltage protectors go a little further by detecting the voltage and shutting off if the voltage level falls below 102V or goes over 132V. The voltage protectors also reset themselves...

For your particular setup, starting at the RV's 50 amp plug, I recommend the Camco RV 50 Amp Voltage Protector # CAM55306 followed by a power adapter cord like the Mighty Cord # A10-1550D90VP that will plug into the surge protector and give you a 15 amp male plug on the other end. Then from there you will just need an extension cord like the 25 foot # A10-2514E that will reach to the shore power hookup at the storage facility. This extension uses 14 gauge wire so that would be my recommendation...

  • Comparing the Camco RV Power Defender Circuit Analyzer and Voltage Protector
The Camco RV Power Defender Circuit Analyzer part # CAM55313 and Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector part # CAM55306 are similar in that they both work to protect the trailer from power surges and have diagnostic lights to help with troubleshooting. However, the Voltage Protector goes a bit beyond this as the voltage detection system is much more sophisticated sensing both high and low voltages in addition to surges. The Circuit Analyzer can only detects power surges, not high and...

With this particular setup you would still want to use a 50 amp surge protector like # CAM55313 for one time surge protection or # CAM55306 that will automatically reset and can be used again and again. You want circuit protection to protect your RV's wiring which is rated for 50 amp....so you'd want to go with 50 amp circuit protection. For that we have the part # CAM55306 which automatically resets or the part # CAM55313 which is more like a fuse and is internally damaged and needs to be replaced in the event of a surge.
