Hey Ed, congratulations on the new motorhome! For a surge protector I would stick with the Watchdog models from Hughes Autoformers. These are nice because the surge model can be replaced if you actually experience a surge instead of replacing the entire unit. They have various options at for 50A so you can choose from the following:

-Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth - Portable - 50 Amp # HU47FR

-Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth and Emergency Shut Down - 50 Amp # HU87FR

-Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth, WiFi, and Emergency Shut Down - 50 Amp # HU62VR

-Watchdog Power Center Surge Protector and Voltage Booster - Bluetooth and WiFi - 50 Amp # HU74ZR

The first option is just your basic surge protector. The # HU87FR adds in the emergency power off feature which protects you from low voltage and bad connections as well. The # HU62VR has Wi-Fi in addition to the Bluetooth if that is important to you.

The Watchdog Power Center # HU74ZR goes beyond the surge protection and adds a voltage booster to keep things running when low levels are detected, but still includes the power off feature when volts drop below usable levels.

Personally, I would get the Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU87FR. The emergency power off feature is nice to have over the basic surge protector, and you definitely want solid protection on your Pasadena.

Where are you headed first with your new motorhome?

I have the 50 amp model. I use it with two 30 amp connectors. My airstream is 30amp but i added an additional ac unit so i carry a 50amp load. The app shows the split as two units. The app allows you to monitor the park power. One guy thinks idraw from other rvs. I can tell the difference. The app shows when it is boosting because rv park system is not able to keep up with the load placed on it by large motor homes. I can also hear how the acunits are running because i do not have ceiling ducts. Just get it. It has a surge unit that is replaceable.

We’ve always run Hughes Power Watchdog 50 w/EPO on our campers. This summer we ran into several low voltage issues at beach campgrounds during the afternoon at @ 103V Which cut the power to the rig. We purchased the 50A Hughes Power Station and with its approximate 10% voltage boost it keeps good range voltage flowing!! Excellent product

I have used the progressive industries EMS on my last few RV's. They work great with not issues; however, they don't have a wireless/Bluetooth controller/monitor. My current RV has the progressive industries EMS and I also added the Watchdog power center this past summer. If I had to do it all over again, I would only have the Watchdog. It does everything that the EMS does but also boosts voltage while lowering amps and can be controlled and monitored with a smart device.

I ordered this power center after having low voltage problems at 2 consecutive campgrounds. The first problem took place in the UP of Michigan. Low voltage was causing the rv’s transfer switch to trigger looking for a generator. My rv was prepped for a generator but never had a unit installed. With voltage falling to 94 volts at the post, the switch was looking for generator power. With no generator installed, all power to the rv was being cut. Not knowing what was going on, I had a mobile rv tech drive 2 hours to diagnose. To make a long story short, I was loaned a Watchdog power center to fix the problem. The problem was immediately remedied. This unit is amazing in its performance. Upon returning home, I immediately ordered one for myself. I realize it’s a little pricey, but I can honestly say that it is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

I recently got the new 50 amp ems and autoformer. Weve stayed at numerous campgrounds and many have voltage sag on one leg. I know low voltage is a huge problem for appliances with any motors like ACs and fridges and even washer dryer. The autoformer under normal use bumps voltage 2 volts..once incoming voltage drops to 112 it boosts it 10 volts on the leg that is low but not both unless needed. It cuts back to normal once incoming reaches 115v. If the voltage drops too far it cuts power I'm not sure exact voltage level maybe 102 but not positive. I still monitor voltage with one of hughes autoformer plug in voltmeters constantly to keep tabs on voltage but the app on your phone gives more info on the autoformer. My only ding is the autoformer only uses 2.5ghz on wireless which is a pain with starlink router but I use Bluetooth option to monitor anyway
