This kit includes a junction box so you can quickly and easily connect the wires from the included trailer connector to your trailer's wiring.

by:

My wire colors did not match. Old plug did. The correct light function I had to use trail and error.

by:

This item was shipped in the same box as a 12K jack. The junction box was destroyed. After calling etrailer, they promptly shipped out a new junction box so I could finish wiring my trailer.

by:

This 7-way upgrade kit with junction box came a mere 2 days after I ordered it, which is great. The entire connector set came nicely assembled and it has everything I need to easily connect it in place of my damaged 7-way cord & connector. This upgrade will assure easy replacement should I squish my cord with my tailgate again. All I will need to do is solder the provided connectors to my existing wire set and get 2 bolts to bolt the box to the 5th wheel hitch. This kit is very robust and is even better than I expected.

by:

A quality made item. The description was not clear to me. I misunderstood the RV Connector therfore I couldn't use the item

by:

Over-all it seems good. I was missing one nut on one electrical connector and the plastic seems a bit cheap. I will wait to see if it holds up over time.

by:

Very nice junction box. I like all the options included for trailer wiring installation.

by:

Junction Box is flimsy, difficult or impossible to seal and the studs inside rust.

by:

Installation of this product was extremely smooth. Installed on a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. With the harness it was plug and play.

by:

Great item to replace your old trailer hook up. I did fine the almost same 7-way kit and junction box for less than etrailer charges $26.00), but the kit did not include the connectors that you can purchase for less then $5.00 at HF.

by:

Easy mount and came with labels for each color wire to match up your wires on your trailers. Recommend for anyone with a newer truck with the 7 plug.

by:

Fast shipping!! Everything was in good condition!! I will leave a review when I get the new lights and 7 way hooked up!! Thanks again guys!!

by:

Good quality, took a long time to arrive at etrailer which held up my whole order. Ashley though was very helpful and kept in communication

I'm glad to hear Ashley kept you informed and was helpful to you, even though there was a delay in your order Michael. What are you hauling?

by:

The quality of the box is amazing. I ordered another one for a different trailer and the plastic box construction is much thicker and heavy duty feeling. The other one I ordered was from Amazon

I better not find out that you're using the online jungle next time you need something for your trailer, Andrew.

by:

This product is very nice, check the connectors inside the box to make sure everything looks great. My ground wasn’t crimped well but Joann immediately sent out another one without question getting it the next day. Great customer service! And this one was perfect.

Joanne is awesome! Ill make sure she gets to see this review. Thanks Anne!

by:

Made rewiring the trailer easier with all wires going into the junction box, the trailer now has a very clean and professional appearance instead of the mess of wires that were originally on it.

by:

The product’s are exactly what I needed and the service is excellent, timing was as expected . Great experience over all

by:

Product as described and quality - note you need to purchase 2 mounting screws. I used 1/4-20 self taping metal screws and 7/64th drill bit for pilot hole.

by:

Fairly stiff cable, especially in the cold. Box is thin, flimsy ABS that cracked during install. Box has no gasket or seal of any kind to keep water out. Rubber grommets/wire pass-throughs fit loosely in their slots. lightweight ring terminals, and they're crimped on rather than soldered. Not a lot of real estate in the box to run wires. I ended up soldering the ring terminals on and covering everything with RTV sealant when I finished wiring to keep water out. It does its job, but I wouldn't buy again.

by:

Easy to install, used to upgrade the wiring for a 1963 Travel Eze.

by:

This really helped keep all the wiring from electric brakes, interior lights, trailer lights, and breakaway switch in order. It would have been a mess with out it. I thought the 7 foot cord might be too long but its not at all.

by:

Let you know when I put it on

by:

I loved the whole process of installing this product. Having an electrical box for all the wires makes connecting them super easy, plus If I ever want to add a wire to run something else it would take me 5 minutes to install. I couldn’t recommend this product more.

by:

perfect for what I needed

by:

Wow, this connector was built with heavy duty in mind.

Hi Dale, I'm glad you can tell the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit was built to withstand the elements.

That thing is the best thing since sliced bread. If you're going to rewire a trailer, this is the only way to go.

  • Can Hydraulic Brakes of Demco Tow Dolly be Converted to Electric Brakes
Since Demco uses 3,500 drum brake assemblies part # DMSB24429M and # DMSB24428M what you'd need is similar 3,500 electric brake assemblies like the etrailer part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left hand side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right hand side. To wire these up you'd just need 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. Then to add a 7-way the easiest way to do that is with the 7-way junction box # e99011.

Yes, it will work. You'll just need to cut the Lance 6-pin connector out and rewire it into the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector item # e99011. Here are the individual functions of that Lance 6-pin: Black Wire: 8 Gauge, 12-volt power White Wire: 8 Gauge, Ground (-) Green Wire: 14 Gauge, Running Lights Red Wire: 16 Gauge, Left Turn Signal Brown Wire: 16 Gauge, Right Turn Signal Yellow Wire: 16 Gauge, Back-up Lights

  • Looking For Cord For Trailer That Plugs Into Truck
Hello Pat, thanks for getting in touch. We deal in all sorts of cords and plugs for trailers, so we most likely will have what you are looking for. Can you tell me exactly what you are needing this cord for? What kind of plug is on your truck currently? Is it the standard 7-way round plug like part # e99011? Let me know what you need it for and as much other information as you can and I am happy to look into it.

  • Parts Needed To Add Brakes To Single Axle Boat Trailer
Hey Steven, thanks for reaching out. It may be possible to add brakes to your trailer. The first thing you will want to verify is that your axle has a brake flange. It should look something like part # 4-35. If no brake flange is present, they can be welded on by a shop, or you can replace the axle entirely. If you do have a brake flange, this means brakes can be added. From there I will need to gather a bit of info from you. I will need to know the weight capacity of your axle, as that...

Hey Will, thanks for reaching out. What I recommend for replacing your 7-way is the following: - etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # e99011 Wiring your connections thru the junction box helps keep them organized and out of the elements. This plug has the double prong design I believe you are looking for. Take a look at the picture I included. Is that what you are looking for?

  • Should I Put a 7-Way Blade or Round in Place of 6-Way
Hey Nick, since the 7-way blade is a lot more popular than the 7-way round I would definitely recommend going with a 7-way flat. For that we have the part # e99011 which comes with a junction box to make installing on your trailer as easy as possible. What does your tow vehicle have on it?

  • Parts Needed To Add Electric Drum Brakes To My Boat Trailer
Hey Brian, For electric brakes on your trailer I recommend the etrailer Electric Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA. This comes as a kit for 1 axle with both assemblies ready to slide onto your axle. those pair well with the Galvanized hub and drum assemblies # AKHD-655-6-G-K. These come with all necessary bearings, races and seals and the galvanized finish is great for marine applications. A good breakaway kit option I recommend is the Bright Way # 3802346 which comes as a full kit with the battery...

  • Parts Needed To Add Electric Drum Brakes To 1994 Jayco Pop-Up
Hey Dan, thanks for reaching out. We do have the 7" electric brakes and drums. Electric brakes are typically less expensive and easier to service than disc brakes. Both could work but for a pop-up camper electric drum brakes would do fine and be relatively easy to set up. As I said we do have the 7" brakes and drums but there are a few different spindle sizes so I will need you to confirm either your spindle diameter or bearing numbers. Also confirm the hub bolt pattern you want. The...

Hello Allen, thanks for reaching out. We do have the parts you will need to convert your trailer from surge to electric brakes, but there is no way to look up your trailer online to know exactly what parts you will need. The main thing we need to nail down is which brake assemblies and hubs you will need. If you can provide me with the casting number from your hubs, I should be able to use that to look up the info I need. Basically I need to know the weight capacity of your axle, your...

Hey Paul! I can recommend a few of the parts you're going to need but you're also going to have to replace your hubs. In order to do this I need you to tell me the part numbers stamped into the side of the bears on one of them and also what your lug nut pattern is. If you could get this information around and comment below I would be happy to find you the right hubs. A brake flange is definitely going to be needed. If you don't have one, you'll need to measure the diameter of your axle...

  • What Type of Trailer Wiring Harness to Upgrade on Boat Trailer for Adding Reverse Lights
Hey Alex, yes you would need to add additional circuits to your 5-pin setup to allow it to carry the reverse light circuit as well. The most common style of connector for this would be to go with a 7-way so that would be what I would recommend. The 6-way is basically only really used with horse trailers so it's not very common at all. We have a kit for this with the etrailer junction box part # e99011. You'd run your current 4-way wiring to the matching terminals and then run the extra...

  • Looking For Good Quality 7-Way Trailer Side Pigtail
Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out. In my experience the most durable 7-way plugs are the "double prong" style like our part # e99011. They tend to make better contact and the plug typically stays more securely inserted compared to other "single prong" designs. This also comes with a junction box which I definitely recommend adding if you don't already have one. It will help keep your connections out of the elements, and will make replacing the 7-way much easier in the future. Although hopefully...

  • Parts Needed To Add Brakes To 2033 Coastline Aluminum Boat Trailer
Hello Ron, thanks for reaching out. I can certainly help point you in the right direction. There are two routes we can go here. We can set you up with electric brakes. These are more cost effective, but not as durable for boat trailer applications since electricity and water do not mix well. We can also do a hydraulic brake setup. This would be more expensive, but will be much more durable and better suited for marine use. Do you have a preference for the brake type? For starters...

Hello Rick, You're looking to swap out the surge brakes for a more reliable electric brake setup, great move for improved control and ease of use. I don’t have access to a specific parts database tied to every trailer model, but based on my research, most Jayco 1406 campers are built on a single 3,500 lb axle (if this is not your axle capacity please let me know). Hello John. Yes, it sounds like the bearing kit for the the 3500 pound axles and the 3700 pound axles are the same. The 3500 pound axles typically use an outer bearing of L44649 with I.D. of 1.063" (1 1/16"), and and inner bearing L68149 with I.D. of 1.378" (1 3/8"), so if those are the bearing sizes you are pulling out of your current hubs then this set up will work great for you. Hey Bob, great question. It was about 7 degrees here in Missouri this morning, so I can relate to the cold. I do have a good solution for this too. What I would do is replace your current 7-way cord with the Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ. This cord is made from a flexible thermoplastic which will not become rigid in the extreme cold. It feels a bit more like soft rubber than hard plastic, even in temps as low as 40 below. Hello Kyle, Yes, our etrailer Electric Trailer Jack - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3,500 lbs # e23ZV would be an excellent fit for your 2-horse trailer at 3,000 pounds. A 4-flat trailer connector only carries lighting functions (tail, turn, brake, and ground), so it does not provide a 12V power source and therefore cannot be used to power an electric jack.
