How to Replace a Lance 6-Pin Plug w/a Standard 7-Way Connector

Updated 05/21/2026 | Published 05/16/2026

Question:

I just bought a used2022 Lance 650 truck camper. I realize the cable hookup from the Lance is not compatible with my 2021GMC truck bumper inlet. What do I need to purchase from Trailer for an adapter cord and plug? Thank you!

Hey Michael, congrats on your new camper. I have a solution for you but we do not have a simple 7-way adapter that is compatible with Lance's proprietary 6-pin plug. What I recommend doing is replacing your Lance 6-pin connector and rewiring it into the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector item # e99011.

The etrailer item # e99011 includes a 6' long 7-way cable and a convenient weather proof junction box. You'll be able to use the junction box to rewire the Lance plug following the wiring orientation below:

Black Wire: 8 Gauge, 12-volt power
White Wire: 8 Gauge, Ground (-)
Green Wire: 14 Gauge, Running Lights
Red Wire: 16 Gauge, Left Turn Signal
Brown Wire: 16 Gauge, Right Turn Signal
Yellow Wire: 16 Gauge, Back-up Lights

The etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box item # e99011 is not labeled by function but the wire colors on the 7-Way do match up with the ones on the Lance 6-pin. The only one you won't use is the blue wire because you won't need a brake controller.

Do you need any tie down anchors for your Sierra? If so I would just need to know your truck's bed length and what kind of trailer hitch you have installed on it.
