Versatile BarBed
The SkyLine's BarBed is specifically designed to work with Yakima's entire line of crossbars.
The BarBed is curved to accommodate the elliptical shape of the CoreBar and JetStream crossbar. The CoreBar includes brackets that slide over the bar and secure to the towers with bolts. The JetStream attaches directly to the tower with bolts.
The towers also work with Yakima RoundBars with adapters . The adapters slide over the bars and secure to the towers with bolts.
The crossbars mount to the SkyLine towers with the included torque tool. The tool clicks 3 times once you've reached the correct amount of torque so you don't have to worry about over- or under-tightening.
Simple Installation with Landing Pads
The towers install with custom-fit Landing Pads . To mount a tower simply open the cover, set the tower on the Landing Pad, and close the cover.
Mounting posts on the bottom of the tower extend when the cover is closed to lock the tower in place on the Landing Pad.
Each tower's pitch can be adjusted up to 6 degrees forward or backward during installation. This lets you create a level mounting surface for your gear even on a curved roof. Simply loosen the bolt near the top of the tower assembly, adjust the position of your bar, and then re-tighten the bolt.
Same Key System Locks
SkyLine towers are compatible with Yakima SKS lock cores (Y07204 - sold separately) that allow you to secure the roof rack to your roof. The SKS locks are all keyed alike so a single key opens all the locks. The locks can also be swapped out to make all of your Yakima products keyed alike.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Toyota 4Runner we're going to be test fitting the Yakima RoundBar Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers Y00408, these are the round 48 crossbars, part number Y03536, this is the RoundBar SL adapter kit and part number Y00147 and these are the Timberline towers for the Yakima crossbars, particularly for factory raised side rails. The Yakima RoundBar Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle. This can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. The RoundBars are strong and durable, however, you may experience some sound and noise while you're driving around with these. Yakima does have fairings that they offer to cut down the wind noise and drag, which you can find on etrailer.com or you can upgrade these bars to either the CoreBars or the JetStream bars as well.Our end caps are lockable by knocking out these plastic portions here. Not only can you secure it to your factory raised side rails but you can also make it keyed alike with your accessories.
They're very easy to install. They simply wrap around with these straps your factory raised side rails and they tighten down into place. And the tool to do this is included as well. To give you a couple quick measurements here. Measuring from the center of the roof to the top of the bar, it's going to be about 4-1/4".
From the center of the roof to the bottom bar is going to be about 3-1/4". You're not going to have a lot of issues of clearance with your accessories at all from the bar to the top of your roof. Also, these two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds. But you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand those weights.Now that we've gone over some of the features of the RoundBar Roof Rack System, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our front one already installed onto our factory raised side rails and then we have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here.
In front, we have our Timberline tower, our adapter kit, the tightening tool, which is included, the end cap for our RoundBar and the two end caps for our Timberline towers. Our first step is we're going to take our tower and install our adapter kit first by placing the plastic piece on top here. It just snaps in like so. Then we'll take our RoundBar adapter, put that in the center. Then take our tightening tool going underneath and tightening it until you hear three audible clicks.
And that's a pretty neat feature about this tool is that is does have those audible clicks. And this is to ensure that you don't over tighten it inside the actual tower itself.Next we'll place this onto our RoundBar and slide it in. And now we can set this onto our factory raised side line. And there's no particular place that I'm setting this down because later we're going to measure from center of the bar to center of the bar to get our crossbar spread down. And we're going to do this on both sides to keep it even and also make sure that the crossbar overhang is even on both sides as well. Now you don't want to go below 24" but what I would recommend is go by whatever accessory you're putting on your roof and go by its recommendations, as far as crossbar spread. Okay, with that done, now we can go to the inside screw and tighten that down so the bar will no longer shift back and forth. Again, we're going to tighten this down until you hear those audible clicks. Then we'll bring our strap and wrap it around. You may have to loosen up the screw at the end here. And we'll do this on the driver's side as well.Now we can tighten down our straps again until you hear the clicks. We're going to place our end cap in place and put our end cap for our crossbar in place as well. Now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. And there you have it for the Yakima RoundBar Roof Rack System on our 2017 Toyota 4Runner.

I have been using Yakima racks for around 40 years and have never had any problems. However, I am amazed at the price increases over the years. Etrailer prices were by far lower than most. Overall, a very excellent purchase.

etrailer is excellent...however, not too pleased with Yakima and these cross bars - second set in four years...they make them out of a steel that rusts quickly...better out of stainless or aluminum. Maybe that is their idea of planned obsolescence. I also learned not to install end caps...that accelerated the corrosive process.

Ive had the rail system on my truck for about a year now and its been a tremendous help. It allows me to still use my bed and provides much needed extra storage space, mostly for all the dog items we carrycrates, gates, beds, food, etc. I like the fact the rail locks to the truck so I dont need to remove them at home or at our destination.

I ordered the Yakima roof rack, with the Hullyrollers for the back crossbar and the Mako saddles for the front crossbar to use with my kayak. It arrived just like they told me and I put them on my car the eveningit arrived. Got to finlly use the roof rack on June 22 to go out kayaking and it worked great. Only thing is I did not know about the air reflector piece for the front crossbar. Now I will be ordering it to help with the wind noise.

These crossbars were easy to install and adjust. Be sure to get all the pieces you need. There is no mention of the Landing Pads necessary to use these.

Great rack, go on fast, easy to install and work well on my VW TDI wagon. Care has to be given and follow the instructions for the install to what type of rails you have. Works great carrying the VW luggage carrier and plan on using it to carry kayaks as well. Just have not decided what kayak rack type to get yet.

The Yakima roof rack system is an Outstanding product. I purchased the product to replace the OEM roof rack because it was too flimsy to carry the tandem bike mount and my bike. The Yakima roof rack is solid and provides me the peace of mind while hauling my bike on the roof of my car. etrailer provided the product for the best price as always.

I've attachec a few pictures of the Yakima rack on my Audi Q7. It took a few attempts to find the right combination of attachments, but in the end, the pin attachments work best with the access points on the factory flush-mount rails. Great product!!!!!

2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Yakima SkyLine Towers are well-designed and well-executed. They easily fit into the Yakima Landing Pads and form a tight fit when closed. And they also fit nicely into the Yakima JetStream Crossbars when following the Yakima instruction manual and various YouTube videos. I did run into a snag at first where I found the rubber seal on one SkyLine Tower getting caught on the JetStream Crossbar track, but after that I was careful not to let that happen with the other towers.
I find the appearance of the Yakima SkyLine Towers to match their level of quality in materials and design.

2007 Toyota RAV4
Have been rocking my Yakima rack from etrailer.com for a year now. I am using rack in conjunction with a Tepui tent. Once I added the air deflector, I would say it's the perfect setup. The Yakima gives more clearance over the factory rack, so I was able to get my hands under it to secure the tent hardware. If you're thinking of upgrading your factory rack, I would not hesitate to use etrailer.com
